Been dreading losing the Stones for a while and sad to see Charlie was the first "Old Stone" to go. We don't know life without them and how lucky we all are to have been alive during these years and be able to see them live. 500 years from now they will still be popular and Charlie will forever carry the beat.
Mick Taylor's ascending notes after each chorus are like a perfect musical reply to the slightly downbeat lyrics. Like it's saying, yes, time slips away from us but life is still a beautiful thing. A little touch of genius. It reminds me a bit of Carlos Santana's playing. And then at the end when everything falls away and you're just left with Charlie's beat, like a ticking clock. Absolutely brilliant. Charlie was like their anchor. He helped keep their feet on the ground. I don't think they would've kept going as long as they did without him. I've always loved this song and it seems so underrated and overlooked. One of their best pieces, I think. God bless that man.
I wish this didn't make me tear up and feel so sad. There's NEVER been a "Rock Star" more cool than Charlie Watts. No pretentious ego 💩 from Charlie which made him the BEST and longest drummer in the greatest Rock N'Roll band EVER. Easy to understand why his passion as a Jazz drummer being he was so naturally laid back COOL. RIP Charlie 💔.
A self taught drummer playing for the greatest r&b and rock band. Not to mention having his own jazz band. The best drummer there was, and perhaps ever will be. Rest in peace my good man. You've earned it
Emotional Homage a the Unforgettable GREAT CHARLIE WATTS 😪 the Best Drummer of the 🌎 With the Wonderful Song Time Waits For No One 👌 a bit unknown but Stupenda Canzone of the Best Band the Rolling Stones ✌️ and the MERAVIGLIOSA VOICE of the Wonderful MICK JAGGER ❤️ RIP DEAR CHARLIE 😥💙 You playng in Heaven Again for we all Yours FANS and the Yours Splendida FAMILY ✨🌟🌟✨ Thanks for this Video 👍
This was the end of a truly great era for the Stones. Album after album were all major hits. After Taylor left only a few albums could live up to the Majesty that was The Rolling Stones! R.I.P. Charlie Watts. Perfect song as a tribute to a very talented and gentle man.
Perfect Song....Epic...Existentialist...The Most Philosofically in the Lirycs and Music when Taylor fly high with his guitar...😳😳😲❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️🎤🎸🥁 "It's Only Rock n Roll" 1974 ballads are the greatest Masterpieces Over All ❗️❗️❗️❤ 🪽🪽🪽🪽🪽🪽🪽🪽🪽🪽
Charlie actually has a huge collection of the drums of other great drummers. He always said he felt that he should "keep them safe." I wonder what will become of them now? 😥
@@billw7417 r&rHOF isn’t about rock n rock anymore anyway. Political enabling puppets! Once you let Rap crap in it’s lost ALL CREDITABILITY as being a Music Icon symbol!
"Time can tear down a building, or destroy a woman's face..." I never forgot that line from t 1st time I heard this song decades ago. Ya, I hear this song in my head as I get older. Not destroyed yet...but "Time waits for no one+it won't wait for me" RIP Charlie 💔💫 MY FAVORITE drummer, always looked like it took no effort. So casual. Missing you already!!!
I've been a Big time Rolling Stoner now for 55yrs. Charlie Always Been my Favorite of All of them. Hands Down the Greatest Band Ever" The ROLLING STONES
Charlie was playing with Alexis band when a dude wanted to sit in, his name was Brian, played "Dust My Broom" and blew everyone in the place away, from there it was Ian, the man with the Plan, then came Keith and Mick, and they were Blown away also, now four of them in picture, Charlie, Brian, Ian, and last but not the least, Mick and Keefe, a good group of people, course Bill had not made his arrival yet, but Ian is the one who pulled it all together, My Little Three Chord Wonders,
Why has Mr.Watts passing hit me so hard?I cannot understand why I feel such loss of someone I have never met.RIP Charlie maybe I will see you in paradise.
It's my favorite song from my favorite Stones album: "It's Only Rock n Roll." This song flew under the radar but was a recurring theme in their music. Every " time" song from them is classic. "Tiiiiiiiiiiiiime is on my side,"" Baby, baby, baby you're out of time. " (this one has been in about 500 movies.) "Time Waits For No One" is the deepest, most thoughtful. Charlie Watts tick, tick, tick with his sticks was a stone cold genius. Mick's plaintive yearning says it all, and Mick Taylor's soloing and meshing with the almighty Keith Richards maybe the best two-guitar combo in rock history.
Mick Taylor's triumphant, but sad, exit song from the Stones. Charlie Watts' drumsticks tick tock into eternity as a fitting tribute to his quiet, classy and irreplaceable presence in an unforgettable band.
Keep Rocking In Paradise ( R.I.P. ) You left The entire solar system better for having you in it. My heart is broken & my Soul feels empty. I thank you for all the great memories, I will always love you. Mr. Charlie Watts 🥁🙏🏻💔😪✌🏻✨🪐
Charlie was so cool, humble, and the grooves he laid down for the Stones just perfect... Ringo Starr fit the Beatles like a glove.. Charlie the same for the Stones... please don't call him the "best".. what is "the best" with something like music... and he was so humble... - a unque gentleman who smiled a bit at the silliness of it all and didn't let it all go to his head, this one hurts... thanks for the gig Charlie - heck of a show
I absolutely always loved Charlie Watts. He was funny & had class. I once saw an interview when they were all asked (by a tasteless reporter), who had the highest number of conquests being a Rolling Stone & they all kind of laughing & then said Charlie’s # was 0 , since he was married to his wife since the 60’s & he said “that’s right & proud of it”.
The best song the Stones have done in years... Charlie is gone, the end of an Era. He will be beating out some rhythms wherever his soul has gone to... Deeply, sadly missed. What would the sixties have been without the Stones??
@@tzezontle Keith Richards said he saw Mick Taylor do the solo and said his jaw dropped to the floor. He couldn't believe what he just saw and heard. Well, Keith is right. This song is a FEAST of Mick Taylor. Charlie on drums is awesome as usual. So sad. He will be missed by all Stones fans world wide.
@@MegaMkmiller Mick Taylor, like other guitarists, is from another world. The stone sound is not the same from 1974 onwards. Rest in Peace, Charlie Watts
I don't understand what you mean with how he stole this song, I can't imagine anyone else voice in this? Or do you mean he didn't credit Mick Taylor? Though Mick Taylors part is so obvious on this song
One of THE most modest people in the music industry who felt more comfortable behind a drum kit than in front of a camera, who when told how much the rest of The Stones rated his drumming said they were being kind. Very sad news for everyone who loves The Rolling Stones and I am sure will be greatly missed by the rest of the band, a guy who's beat Keith Richards described as the engine room of the band. RIP Charlie, thoughts go to his wife and family.
So much too admire in the man. One thing I loved was how, even though the Stones stage setup became bigger and bigger. He kept the some size drum kit. Over the years they added more BV's and other musicians. Everything got bigger but Charlie kept it simple ❤
M.B.S. Great post. So sad to hear of Charlies passing. In 1964, my friend Perry N., had the Stones first album, as soon as it was released. In Spring of 1964, Perry N. told us he had the album and asked us if were interested in wanting to listen to it. Gary H. and me liked the Beatles and of course , we did! We all flipped out and listened to the album 3 or 4 times! All the while, we mimicked the Stones in front of his large mirror for about an hour! I was 13 at the time! Now at 70, approaching my 'twilight' years, and seeing a great musician of my life, pass, this song (Time Waits For No One), really puts this life we are blessed to have, into perspective! Never heard it before, but it really hit me. I just downloaded it to add to my itunes... RIP Charlie Watts and thanks for the post M.B.S.!
This is one of the best songs on the album. Mick Taylor is an incredible guitarist, his solo work is amazing, makes the guitar scream. Charlie dying has left a hole in my life, I couldn't be more depressed. A class act, a humble human being, a beautiful man. I will MISS YOU my brother you were not given the credit you deserved and nobody has ever had a style like you, a signature style, a hi hat & snare drum master. Just incredible style and sound. RIH my friend, there's no replacing you.
Can't believe its already 2 years since Charlies dearh. One of our first great drummers in Rock N'Roll AND Jazz. What a class act he was too. So real and down to earth. 😢,💔😢
Perfect song to show Charlie's craftmanship. His drumming on this song is awesome: he plays with feeling. Always loved his use of the hihat and cymbals, like on this one.
Starting and ending the song with the ticking of a clock is just perfect. One of the most outstanding examples of the quiet way Charlie contributed to all the Stones songs.
From as early as I can remember, I was brought up on a diet of Farley's rusks, trumpton and the rolling stones. Charlie was my mother's favourite stone and his passing has stirred up memories. Maybe he'll give her a drum lesson up there....
What an unbelievably sad loss of such a talented and lovely guy. Those of us that have had the great pleasure of seeing the Stones live are graced. The word “legend” is used to freely these days but Charlie Watts was the meaning of the word, a legend of legends! You’ve entertained us so much over these many years Charlie and now unfortunately it’s time to rest, rest well Mr Charlie Watts and thank you so very much. Your not gone, you’re just not around anymore! 😔 ❤️❤️🇬🇧
THIS "IS"....THE STONES MASTERPIECE !!!!! THE MICK JAGGER LYRIC IS AMAAAZING ....THE MICK TAYLOR'S GUITAR SOUND FLIES HIGH......TILL TO TOUCH THE SKY.........AND OUR HEARTS...!!!! I GET CHILL.....😳😲😲😲❗️🙁🙁🙁🥺🥺🥺🌷
The closest, best besties ever. It will no doubt be very different for the band without their soul behind them...but im a believer in spirit and i just know Charlie will always be with them. Miss you Charlie. Rest easy.🙏❤
This is such a unique song in the Stones catalog, multi-layered, beautifully executed, and would be very difficult to replicate in a live performance. In my opinion, it was M.T.’S greatest performance, and beautifully presented as a tribute to Charlie. I’m sad.
And I thought I was the only one crazy about "Time Waits for no One." It is so damn profound: "Time can tear down a building, or destroy a woman's face." You know, underneath all the hoopla, spectacular goings on of the Rolling Stones and the business of rock n roll stardom there exists two very thoughtful philosophic poets named Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. And they had a drummer who knew exactly what each song needed. What I like the best about "Time Waits" besides Mick Taylor's solo is the song starts and ends with the immortal Charlie Watts groove.
@@timmiller5913 Thank you, the compliment means everything. You know, the line that haunts me through the decades is "hours are like diamonds, don't let them waste." We don't personally know the Rolling Stones. Never will, and why should we? I would never see them live, I'm not the mass adulation type. But they seem like good people. Charley Watts lived a good long life, with wealth and fame. It's touching to see the affection for him from the other Stones, knowing that's earned. If I out live Mick and Keith seeing them go will be sad. But those two hard asses would probably say "save your grief for the ones you do know."
what a beautiful tribute to Charlie Watts! My favorite Stone. And seeing this I realize what a amazing life these guys had/have. I hope they enjoyed every minute... I enyoued them the last 30 years of their existance. Epic
I bought the Stones' High Tide and Green Grass album when I was 10 or so. Still play it. It starts with Satisfaction where Charlie plays an amazingly tight fast beat. Gonna play the whole album today. Hey Hey you you get off of my.........
I’m big fan or Rolling Stones already 10 years, and all of them was like a big mountains for me. I started to listen Time wait for no one just about week ago before mountain fall. Found this video on RU-vid and feel myself not so lonely. Thank you, now I now I’m not alone.
I can't believe Charlie is gone. I've listened to him for decades and thought he'd always be there. Well his music will, he left a huge impression on rock and roll music. I will miss him greatly. Thank you for all of the great music and memories Charlie.
Charlie Watts was never the most flashy drummer. He wasn't known for the frenzied solos of Cream's Ginger Baker, or for placing explosives in his kick drum like The Who's Keith Moon. Instead, he was the subtle, stoic heartbeat of Rolling Stones for almost 60 years. With Bill Wyman and Keith Richards forged some of rock’s deepest grooves on “Honky Tonk Women,” “Brown Sugar” and other songs, for example. We all fans here in Brazil will miss Charlie 🇧🇷
I feel as though I’ve lost a close friend. All my deepest lows and highest highs have been with Charlie in one form or another. As the words I type tears of such profound sadness fall from my eyes. Thank you for the most beautiful gift of music for the last 47yrs… My hearts is a little heavier…
La canzone perfetta per ricordarlo...la inizia e la finisce lui...con un omaggio lungo e profondo che solo la squisita chitarra di Mick Taylor poteva fornirle.
