if emperor can play death metal like this, they should try writing it. ihsahn is a very diverse musician he can probably write it. i love the sound and the mixing of this recording too.
@Torpedopimp Hey hey now I may be 16 but I know all those bands you mentioned. I'm not too familiar with De Syv Fjell, I fuckin' love Taake and Kvist is pretty sick too. Check out Deathspell Omega, Drudkh, Blut Aus Nord, Krieg, Covenant and early Samael as well! Pretty sick stuff!
@FLIPPITYFLOOP You're not dumb man! I guess T.S.S was a band that was influenced by both Black and Death. Back then, the Death Metal music could be very dark and ugly, like Sadistic Intent , Order From Chaos and Autopsy. -I always regarded T.S.S as a dark / cult Death Metal band . -in -92,I didn't have any information available ,I just had a copy of a demo-tape..
@tingtongnidnoi ah i see. at least you once had those and were around back then. i was born in 94 and im just starting to get into the black metal scene, im actually more of a death metal guy. unfortunately i started to get into black metal too late-ill never get to see emperor live :( ya thats right xD im in grade 10 and i listen to Emperor. and im probably the only guy in the school that KNOWS them, let alone likes them...
@Torpedopimp Hehe I'm the only 16 year old I know that listens to as much Black Metal as I do, or extreme metal in general. I have some friends as well that may like one band or another, but not nearly as much as I do. Funny thing is, my favourite black metal band is from Illinois USA (Nachtmystium), yet most of the black metal bands I listen to are from Europe. And by Europe, I mean Norway. A couple bands I also like from other European places (Drudkh, Blut Aus Nord) but its mainly Norway\m/
@FLIPPITYFLOOP Well I had a lot of tapes and demos, ufortunetaly most of them are lost or worn out. It was different times in early 90-s ;no internet .. -dedicated fans updated themselves by reading the underground-zines,communicating with other fans by mail and tape-trading..
someone shouldve done a version of Quintessence. that song is badass i love the riff throughout. except i always laugh when fenriz (he does the vocals on that song right? i dunno i only really listen to their dm stuff im not the hugest fan) screams FEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!
You are right, but if you read my comment once more, you will see that I wrote "re-inventors" not "inventors".. ok? -in other words; A Blaze in the Northern Sky kick-started the second wave of Black Metal.
I find Darkthrones version alot better, but this cover is still pretty good. Ihsahn is doing a decent job, I just miss the deeper and more singing from Nocturno Culto.
See, the magic in here is that Femmeperor could never write a complete genial song like this. They can copy it half decentely I must admit it though, whether it´s Trym or Faust on drums - good fucking job at honouring Gylve!!! .
@FLIPPITYFLOOP -Well I think its great that you like Emperor and Darkthrone. -Believe it or not,Black Metal is not very popular among the youngsters here in Norway neither. They are getting brainwashed by the rap-hiphop-crap before they learn to walk ..
sorry even if its emperor i have to say its an epic fail, im sorry drums are just horrible well i guess no one could play those drums like fenriz in soul side journey best drums in metal!!!!!! period!!!
