He is a legend. When i was 18 i had drunk too much and my car had broken down in the middle of the city in Perth. I staggered to the local burger bar called Fast Eddies where i fell asleep at the table. The joint was packed and i awoke to two strangers sitting at my table, Mark Waugh and Michael Whitney. I told them my story of despair that i had run out of money and my car had broken down. Mark to his credit said jump in the cab with me and Mike and we will give you a lift home. In my eyes Mark was not only a legend on the field, he was also a legend off the field as well.
@@Elmo1989xx certainly is, send him a message or Mike Whitney? Both were playing cricket for NSW in a shield match against WA in 1988. The NSW team was staying at the Burswood Casino which is not far away from my parents house.

Like i said.. bowling attack of the 90s-2005 is way better than what we are seing now. Ambrose Akram Kumble Lee Bond Warne McGrath Walsh Murali Vaas Donald Gough Harbajan Waqar Akhtar Saqlain Pollock etc.. batsman now will excell because we are exposed to Luke-warm bowlers
One of the most elegant and stylish batsmen to ever have played the game of cricket. He made cricket look so easy and simple in every department of the game, be it batting, bowling or his immaculate fielding. If it was not for his casual attitude after scoring a century and throwing away his wicket, he would have certainly averaged in the vicinity of 50 than 41.81 in tests. But the sheer joy and immense pleasure he provided to the spectators was inimitable. I really miss his presence on the field. My all time favourite cricketer.

Mark Waugh - Elegance, flamboyance, and style. Mark W was one the most talented batsmen ever to have played the game of cricket. He was also the one of best slip fielders who took some exceptional catches during his career. I’ve been a huge fan of the Waugh brothers 🙏
my all-time favourite Aussie player..... 90s....... every place in the world where they played cricket there'd be a lot of mark Waugh fans.... though I'm an Indian whenever India vs Aussie match goin on I'd wish a Mark Waugh century and an Indian win....
Hey, I've also been watching the game on tv for nigh on 40 years but I could not possibly narrow it down to 3 or 4 players ... Mark Waugh is one of my favourites none the less.
Mark waugh...what an awesome cricketer...sheer delight to watch him play...perhaps one of the most stylish batsmen to have played the game. Had an air of nonchalance about the way he played his shots. One of all time greats no doubt...n my fav all time batsman...thanks for entertaining us Mark.. 💞
Mark Waugh the most intelligent and calm player i have ever seen. One curious thing i observed was that he never ran around or ran towards the bowler or anyone after talking unbelievable catches. Very complete player. Scored centuries when needed. Symbol of elegance and quiet toughness.
My all time favourite Australian batsman. It was a pleasure watching him bat, bowl and field especially when he toured the Caribbean. I will always remember shouting his name from the scoreboard when he was fielding close to the boundary and he looked up and waved at me twice during WI vs Aus at Arnos Vale St. Vincent in 1999. Deserved a WC (99) ring as well after missing out in 96.
i'll never forget that catch Mark took at first slip of Inzi ... I couldn't believe my eyes as a 12 year old that it was even possible what he did. Mark and Steve Waugh were the ultimate competitors. One full of grace and elegance and talent and the other the complete street fighter. Aah those were good days, good memories

just about the perfect cricketer! Capable of big scores in both ODI and Tests. Stylish, impeccable timing and most importantly, an All-Rounder Handy slow spin bowler, excellent slip fielder.
He was my favourite batsman to watch. Don’t think there will be another one like him in the game. Just elegance personified on the cricket field. Graham Thorpe was close, but Mark was my favourite.
One of the best batsmen against the spinners. His 153 in bangaloru speaks the volumes of his class as Ausies were under tremendous pressure having gone down by 2 nil and eventually had lost the siries. 1996 world cup witnessed his class as an alround cricketer. He scored 3 hundreds and got some wickets as well. His hundred against Kenia exhibited his prowess of accepting challenges under pressure. Australians were jolted as lost both the openers on 26. Undaunted by ennormity of the task, He rose the occasion in quater-final against Kivies and scored 3rd hundred. Australia entered the semis chasing 288 the mamoth score in that era. It was a treat to watch for the knowledgable Madras crowd.
Mark Waugh was one of the very best. An outstanding all round cricketer and a ripping bloke when I met him in Darwin, NT, all those years ago. A credit to himself, his family and Australia.

We cannot find players elegant as Azhar & Mark Waugh. They made me feel. They were born for cricket. Flick shot they play, not able grab the work of their wrist. It seems there won't be any Mark waugh or azharuddhin in future also. Yes others MAKES More runs, from the point of class play. Only Mark waugh & Azhar.
Have to disagree with you there. Although I'm a huuuge Mark Waugh fan, and speaking strictly of players back then in the 90s, and from the point of class play, SA batsman Darryl Cullinan was one of them...
