John Noakes was the undoubted star of the best Blue Peter lineup Noakes, Singleton and Purves. A TV legend. Happy childhood memories.

John Noakes - total telly legend. Thank you John - as Kids we loved You and Shep - and still do.

I recall watching an interview with John Noakes shortly after Shep had died. The man was genuinely broken hearted. Blue Peter in the 70s was fantastic TV.

I grew up watching John, Pete and Val, and all the pets. Much respect, especially to John, and the whole Blue Peter team.

“Sporks and foons” 😢 RIP John Noakes. You were a true highlight of my childhood viewing.

Remember John with much affection. what a role model for a boy, fearless self deprecating with the minimum of fuss and sense of humour, a big heart and all done with a unique style and panache. He knew what it was to be human.

Courage and humility, the mark of a man. John took television presentation to another level. I was fortunate to have watched those wonderful Blue Peter moments. A great time to be a child. Thank you John for your contribution towards a wonderful childhood. R.I.P.

Purves and Noakes were a great team.

In 1973 the RAF Falcons asked John Noakes if he would like to make a five mile free fall jump. He successfully completed the jump on 15th May 1973 and achieved three “firsts” in the process: the first civilian in Britain to make a five mile high free fall;

John Nokes and Shep, both remembered with much affection, they were Blue Peter for me 💕

I salute you mr John Noakes a proper dare devil. Watching him climbing Nelsons columnTrafalgar Square was one of the greatest achievements. I have ever seen when I walk past the square I salute him. And Nelson of course thanks John for the entertainment you gave

I grew up with Blue Peter loved every minute of this great program and of course John noakes was are heroe great man l will never forget him thank you Blue Peter for making good and happy times for me 👏👏👏👍

I was infatuated with John as a schoolboy in the days when it frowned on to be a puff in those days.. it was a lonely world.... John was the man who I both fancied and respected..... He was my true heart throb.

I always remember his parachute jump, Bobsleigh crash and of course the elephant. Also the Hercules simulator at Brize Norton. I think as kids we thought of him as a old man, if he could do these things, so could we. Inspiring to the young.

Absolute LEDGEND to a certain age group, of which is sadly missing in this day and age.

Peter purves summed him up perfectly at the end a TV ledgend of which we’ll not see again!

John was the big brother that we all wanted; the big brother of our generation

John Noaks was brilliant. I can remember as he walked through a tunnel pushing a narrow boat through, walking against the wall (whilst laid on his back) of the tunnel.

Yes I remember John Noakes well, and Blue Peter. I did'nt know that John Noakes had died in 2017. R.I.P. John Noakes. I also remember Peter Purvis and was shocked to see how he's aged.

Great man, great to watch. I love blue peter because he was in it.

John was indeed a daredevil that i loved to watch. But Peter was the older brother i wanted but didn’t have. When i see him now i have. Wave of affection that he might find hard to understand. In difficult childhood times, Blue Peter was a safe space and one where I was entertained, taught, and nurtured. Val, John, Pete and Lesley were family to me.

Jeez, that's Peter Purves. I didn't recognise him. How I miss the days of the old Blue Peter.

John Noakes said BP producers had never taken out insurance on his stunts! He only found out after he retired, he was livid! I remember some of these producers/directors, a more arrogant, pompous bunch you couldn't meet anywhere! RIP John!

By Jove, John Noakes' demise was only five years ago. I remember him on Blue Peter very well during my formative years. His antics would have been really bad news for the Health and Safety brigade, as in those days people were allowed such daredevil ideas! When Noakes died, I was nearly forty seven!

The story about the RAF spontaneously sending a C130 Hercules to collect a film camera is astonishing.

Blue Peter was never as good after John and shep left ..

Oh! yes I forgot to mention, that I also rember the dog "Shep."
