Ustad Nainawaz was a renowned Afghan singer and composer. He was instrumental in the success and popularity of many Afghan singers. His compositions were sung by Ahmad Zahir, Ahmad Wali, Ustad Mahwash, Ustad Sarban and many other Afghan singers.
Ustad Nainawaz was born in 1934 in Kabul and disappeared, presumed murdered by Khalqee communist regime shortly after 1979 coup.
This short documentary explores his impact on Afghan music and concludes with an account of his final moments as he and his cousin were taken to the ministry of interior in Kabul and never seen again
