for a guy 5'7 and 12 stone to be world player of the year in the land of the giants is simply unbelievable. the size differential to when gerald or campese did their magic is incomparible. People critisize him because of his ball retention early in his career but this is based on jealousy and envy. he was the best rugby talent for a generation. one of the best ever.
I've been priveleged to see a lot of great players, both on screen and playing live. None, and I mean none have created that incredible sense of anticipation and exhileration in the way this man did. You could see his team mates gasp with expectation, the oppositon gasp with fear and feel the whole crowd take a sharp inward breath (whatever their hope for the moment) every time he got the ball. Greta attacker, great playmaker and a pretty good defender too (ask Matt Banahan!)

Inspirational! 5 6' tall and such quick acceleration combined with awesome side stepping! He is the best example that shows heart and skills rest above the physicality even in a contact sport like Rugby! (Y)
There will never be another 'magic daps' Williams. But then again, they said the same about Barry John, Merv the swerve, JPR, Nugget, & Neil Jenkins. Cymru am byth!!
Absolute legend, Wales will miss him tremendously, he would have been the difference against Australia in the recent tour & Wales would have come out on top without a doubt.
All of these tries are when he's playing for Wales or the Lions, some of the tries he scored for Neath or the Ospreys I'm pretty sure some rugby fans from around the world wouldn't believe. I was sat in the stand in St Helens once and he was playing for Neath and he made a break which was bordering the ridiculous. Brilliant brilliant player, but Wales will produce another world class back soon - We always have.

Personally I think that league as a game is far superior to union! I'm from up north in england so yo would probably say the complete opposite to what I say anyway! But one think I will say is quite simple Shane Williams is fucking AWESOME!!! Would av loved to see him play league he would av been great!
