Greatest Music Director Shankar ji ( of Shankar Jaikishan duo). Shankar ji was senior most, highly talented, Versatile and singlehandedly created a team comprising himself, Jaikishan, Hasrat, shailender, Dattaram and Sébastien. This team gave priceless music melodies to Hindi Cinema since 1949. Their songs are ever lasting.

Shankar and jai kishan! Great duo that has done great work, in the field of Hindi film music will be remembered for ever! Today they are not with us. This hurts me a lot whenever I listen their songs.They are alive in their music and in my heart!!

wo daur hi aisa tha jab 1949 me ek chamatkar jaisa hua aur shankar jaikishan ki entry hue Bollywood music industry me. Shankar jaikishan ki barsat me kissi ka bhi thehrana jaise possible nahi tha. There after shankar jaikishan and their team mainly shailendra,hasrat, Sébastien, Dutta ram and many others permanent associate keep establishing their authority time and again that they are the now force to reckon with and their music stands fifty years ahead of their rest of the compitators, soon after barsat. Shankar jaikishan were writting the new rule of orchestra and composition, for remaining MD have left with two options, either follow them or perished. The monotonous and orthodox style of classical music all of sudden becomes old fashioned and new India was prepared to embrace the refreshing and breezy new sensation named shankar jaikishan with open arms. The socialism, shailendra, rajkaapur with shankar jaikishan composition were not only complimenting each other but become guarantee for success of any film . This team rajkaapur was not became very popular in newly independent India but the war torn world as well particularly in Russia lead communist block countries starting from China, cheezchaslwakia, Romania, China, Bulgaria, polland and last but not least the USSR. Every where you can listen 'awara hu' or mera joota he Japani'. And and this grand magical streak continues uptill the untimely and sad demise of jaikishan. I can safely infer my writing by saying that 'bade gaur se sun raha tha zamaana tumhi so gaye meharvaan kahte kahte'but shankar jaikishan and their creation will be remembered by one and all forever. Long live team and music of shankar jaikishan. Sochta hu kya likhu aur chodu but for me Shankar jaikishan means adbhut, advitiya, shaandar, shankar jaikishan means Simply superb,SJ means beyond comparision and Shankar Jaikishan means all time great na bhoota na bhavishyati.

I am love of the greatest music master beloved Shankar and poet cum great Lirics writer Shalender since my child hood when I was hardly 9 years old and quite onpsired from their All Toll songs sung by Lata didi. Even after passing around 63 and odd years I am proud to confess that I am reciting their Songs only!

Nobody in whole universe can compete SJ.why they left us heartbroken?come back superb duo..

It is nice you have remembered Shankar. When SJ worked as a team, it is difficult to say who composed which tune. But there are certain clues like who worked with which lyricist most which enables us to make an intelligent guess. The film world is wretched, and no wonder it forgot Shankar. Unfortunately, he had not cultivated public relations . But that Raj Kapoor ditched him is unpardonable, especially when we know that he used the tunes which SJ had composed and which he had stored.. Similarly, Mukesh working against Shankar is also inexcusable, when we know that it was SJ who gave him work when he was in the wilderness, following his acting-film producing fiasco. ( And for his own production, he had not chosen SJ as MD). However, SJ created very good music outside RK fold. It was said that SJ manipulated the Filmfare awards. But it is also true that after Jaikishan's death, Shankar too lost his touch. However, this has happened to most MDs in course of time- they all lost their touch except SDB. See how Naushad, CR, OPN, Anil Biswas -all faded away. It is also said that after Jaikishan's death, producers did not allow Shankar to use his usual large orchestra.But they all live in the music they created in their day. Shankar (Jaikishan) gave us many hours of wonderful music. Their music will live.Thanks for uploading this tribute to Shankar.

After listening to the songs thousand times each song appears as fresh as one listened to it for the first time, there is always something new to note and get thrilled with the magical note, semi note or a quarter note. Shankar jaikishan ji was creative mind they belive to give every time new composition they are master in classical as well as western music salute to him but after mera naam joker & kal aaj aur kal rajkapoor never used sj. In earlier days (1950 t0 1970) raj kapoor ji said that sj was their heart but how can you give up them even though mera naam joker & kal aaj aur kal music was hit the problem of mnj & kal aaj kal movie was flop so rj has taken lp for their new film Bobby in 1973.here I remembered that song is Dost Dost na raha pyar pyar na raha .

All music directors in hindi films industries in the past were excellent , Bur Shankar is genius. Shankar was one class above them all. Thats fact!!!

It was Shankarji's greatness that he gave space to Mrs Pallvi Jaikishan & her son (escorted by Mr Raj Kapur) while receiving Filmfare award for Best Music director under the name of S - J (although Shankarji alone composed music for films Pehachan, Beiman & Sanysi). Mr Raj Kapur & Mr Mukesh back stabed Shankarji . These men attained name, fame & richness because of Shankarji (&Jaikishanji). Shankarji died unheard & uncared. So much ungrateful men in hindi film industry. Can any one tell as to what happened to his family and siblings for the purpose public knowledge......?.

All well and good. They were very innovative and to me the top ones. But I have always been sad since I read about how Shankar was left exposed and fending for himself after the death of Jaikishan. He must have felt very hurt in the way he was treated by the cinema during the years leading to his death. He died almost in the wilderness.
