As a 53 year old Australian, my earliest memory of Bob Willis was this tall streak with bouncing hair and a weird action running in to bowl us out during the '81 series. You just knew that he would bowl until you prised the ball out of his hands - a great team man and that's the highest compliment I can give. Not embarrassed to admit that tribute made me tear up.
His performance at headingley in 1981 will never be forgotten. Without Bob no miracle wish they gave 2 man of the match awards and I didn’t know much about Bob until I saw this video great personality and iconic player never forget
A wholehearted giant of a performer for England, and a true hero to any schoolboy who witnessed his efforts. What an inspiration, and example. His family should be so proud, and remember the real love the public felt for him.
Good to see how he gave it a right go when it was rampant. My daughter was 2 when he took 8 wickets in the 1981 Headingly Test v Australia. A couple of tests later Bob was bowling and she shouted at the TV “Come on Bob”.
RIP Bob. A Top Bloke and a Good sense of Humour a nice family and a Rather good Cricketer. Not everyone has all these. Thanks for the Entertainment you gave to us.🇬🇧🏏😊
