Hey, this is so cool! What kind of foam and fabric do you use? The fabric used for the skin I mean. And do you make the eyes or get them premade? This is awesome!
Where do you get your foam and contact cement because I can’t find either of them :) would the contact segment from weld wood work because that’s all I can find ;) great vid the triceratops looks amazing keep up the good work
If you have any upholstery shop near you can easily purchase from them medium density foam as well as the adhesive glue. I haven't use weld wood so I can't give my opinion. I purchase my foam and glue from a upholstery supplier.
You do a really great job with foam construction. It would be nice if you could list the materials that are being used and possibly an update on what you are working on or what we might expect next. Could you do the dilophosaurus bust, adult triceratops bust, pachycephalosaurus bust, spinosaurus bust, ankylosaurus bust and stegosaurus bust? How would you go about doing a modern animal bust like a lion, anteater, deer, rhino, wolf, eagle, crocodile and such? Do you have more sculpts coming?
Yes I have sculpted a Legend Bust some years back. I have also sculpted modern animals Tigers , elephant, horses and gorillas out of foam. I want to do more videos. Believe!!
Quick question how big is the ball you used for the eyes? I want to make one of these with blinking eyes and I was just curious on what size ornaments I should use. Also how do you print out your template to the accurate size? I want to make mine the same size you made yours.
This was very useful. Funny Raptor cameo at the end too! A technical question, is the spray paint that you use acrylic based? Or the type used for graffiti art(which I assume is the same thing)? The reason I ask this is because I've created a hand puppet of my own(Raptor) and wish to paint it without compromising the flexibility of the fabric.
Thank-You! Yes it's acrylic based Spray paint...don't worry about the flexibility if you spray on light coats even if it becomes stiff when you use it regularly the fabric will loosen up still. Go ahead enjoy don't worry to much--Boon
Hi I'm trying to replicate this on a larger scale but I think my foam is to soft as the crown is to floppy, is there any trade secrets to firming up the foam I have at all without spending out to much. I'm using 1 inch upholstery foam, build should be around 6 and half feet nose to tail by the end haha
Yes no worries just trace the same templates for the Crown area out of cardboard material and stick it to the back of the soft foam that should firm it up.
Maybe your density is either too soft or too hard use medium density upholstery & colors does no difference. Check your existing foam density. Let me know.
Anyone Can Sculpt thank you. I’m almost finished with the construction and ready to start painting. I’ve been using 3M Super 77 spray adhesive to attach the fabric and Barge All Purpose Cement to glue the foam together but it doesn’t stick instantly so the head was pretty difficult.
I'm sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but what's that smoking stick you're using? Is it a special kind of burner? Also - I subscribed to your Patreon - how do I size the templates correctly? What kind of fabric do you recommend. Aaaand one more thing - what kind of glue do you use?
Anyone Can Sculpt I'm so sorry but one more question - how do you properly size the templates? I've tried and the pieces fit together fairly well but some were a bit clunky compared to others
Boon, you have done it again! I sure do appreciate the beautiful work you have done. I am working on my Velociraptor right now, but will definitely do this one as well. I would strongly encourage anyone interested in DIY projects to make a small investment in Boon's Patreon account: www.patreon.com/ACSTemplatesSculpt and make a small investment with great returns. I love these projects and am looking forward to doing some of this with my grandchildren this weekend. Again, thanks very, very much, Boon. You are the best!
