Tricks to Become a Fastpass Expert 

If we leave the park a little early, we use our tickets to get fast passes and give them to another group of people in the park. That way they can use their own tickets to get fast passes for another ride they also want to see!

Thanks! I watched your video, it's great! It's slightly unfortunate that the Cast Members are enforcing return times this year though.

They're being really strict about when you return lately, my family used to get a bunch of fastpasses and because you were aloud to come back past your time window, we would be able to ride multiple rides and our day would be very flexible, now it's a little bit harder, but we are still very grateful for the fastpass system, it's very handy! I have heard that on the new magic bands, where you are aloud to reserve only three times each day as your "fastpass+" is going to overrule fastpasses and they're not going to have the actual fastpasses anymore! Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy that Disney is coming out with new technology, but if that totally overruled fastpasses, I would be devastated! I also heard that the less you plan in advance, the less times you get to reserve! Say you plan 120 days ahead, you get three reserve times, but if you plan only 20 days ahead, you'd only get 1 or possibly 0 reserve times! I find this very annoying to be honest! This new system I feel is just going to complicate things -___-

I'm Still Confused lol. I will be going to Disney World This Weekend and would love to use the Fastpasses service will there, but I still don't get the 2 Times printed on the tickets

We used Tip #2 and our Uncle (who didn't ride any rides along with our 2 grandparents) was trucking us from ride to ride so we wouldn't miss fastpass times :)

Yeah, "Soarin'" always fills up really fast. So does Toy Story Mania at Hollywood Studios. Those extra magic hours really help :)

As of February of last year, cast members are being trained to allow guests in 5 minutes before their FP and up to 15 minutes after the 1 hour window. After that - you're out of luck. If the line is short a CM may be more inclined to let you in but it is on a cast by case basis. It is still 1 every 2 hours or once you've used your FP :)

Hi Renah, Yes, Disneyland Paris does have the fastpass system, in both the Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney Studios parks. I would recommend getting Fastpasses for Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, and Buzz Lightyear's Laser Blast. If you have young kids be sure to get one for Peter Pan's Flight in Fantasyland as well!

I remember when the FastPass system was first put into effect, you could get as many as you wanted at once just using one Disneyland Entrance ticket. My family constantly used that to it's full advantage and we would have FastPasses for five different rides. It's a shame now that they no longer do that. Especially because I've seen when there's only a ten minute difference in the wait times for certain rides.

Well them enforcing the FastPass time slots is actually a good thing. This keeps everything more organized and avoids making Stand By lines from getting too long at any given time. One of the biggest things that makes Stand By lines so long is the FastPass, Its like a virtual addition to your Stand By line because they will let them in before you, and that is precious time taken.

Now that you mention that, they are indeed working on a new system to put in the parks. It'll use RDIF tags and scanners, and so far they have tested it on the Epcot entrance and (publicly) some of the Magic Kingdom rides.

Yeah, Disney started enforcing the one hour window earlier this year. I believe they are going to be introducing a new system similar to the fastpass exclusively for resort guests in the near future.

Yes, at WDW the return times are strictly enforced now. This is because of the new FastPass+ that is currently in trial. However, at DLR, the return times are not enforced and you can still take advantage of this trick.

That's true. I try to avoid the standby lines for the Fastpass rides as much as possible because of this.

I believe the limit is one every two hours, unless that was changed. You can also get a new fastpass for another ride once the time window on the first one is reached. (For example if your fastpass says to come back between 3 and 4pm, you can get a new fastpass at 3pm).

You can't use your room key as a fastpass in itself, however, assuming that your park tickets were digitally put onto your room key, you will use your room key in the fastpass machine to get fastpass tickets. You will still need to get a fastpass from the booth.

I was told by a Disney cast member that the guest is not restricted by the one hour window on the fast pass at all. The time printed on the fast pass means the guest can return any time within the hour or after.

You're right, other parks like Six Flags or Universal Studios offer systems to help you skip lines, but you have to pay for them in addition to your park admission. Disney offers it for free, and the new system they are starting to implement is free for Resort Guests.

What I used to do is from 9am til noon I'd go grab a fastpass, ride some rides repeat so I'd end up getting fastpasses for most of the big rides and I'd use them all to close out the parks. :)

Yeah, you definitely need to be wearing good walking shoes to do that. But in some situations it prevents you from having to get a second fastpass for a ride later on. For example, if you can get to Splash Mountain in the morning before it gets too busy, you can wait in the standby line instead of having to go grab a fastpass for it later.

Actually, you can hold multiple if the time slots allow you to do so. Once I held one for Toy Story, Rock and Rollercoaster, and Tower of Terror all at once because of the times. You're able to get new fastpasses two hours after you get the first.

The time windows are enforced now so this can no longer be done. However, doing that didn't make wait times longer. Basically if all the people that were supposed to return at 3PM chose to come back later, that would mean that the wait times at 3PM would be a lot shorter than they would have been otherwise.

How many hours is an FP good for? I've used FP before at Disney's Hollywood Studios for the original Star Tours in 2003.

True, though if you really like a ride you can get a Fastpass and wait in the standby line, thereby riding a great ride twice without too much waiting or walking around. Say you head to Splash Mountain first thing, you can ride it when the line is short, grab a fastpass for an hour later then do Haunted Mansion, Pirates/Carribean, browse in a shop and come right back. Easy!

is fastpass+ only for disney world? im going to disneyland (anaheim) this summer and i looked it up and no where does disneyland talk about fastpass+. we were planning on getting many fastpasses but if this new system only allows 3, we're screwed hahah xx

Yes, you can get many fastpasses per day. If you got a fastpass that says come back to ride from 1:00-2:00pm, you'll be able to get another one any time after 1:00pm. :)

I did not understand ..if u get a fast pass with time stamp between say 2:00 to 3:00 then Is it that I can go on a ride at 2:00 ?Or at wat time I shld make it to the ride ?Please advice..

The fastpass allows you to go into a special line that is less crowded, so that your wait time is very short (ranging from zero-ten minutes). You can get them using your park entry ticket in the special fastpass machines, and all you have to do is return at the time printed on your ticket. Now that they have gone to the Magic Bands and FP+ they have become VERY strict on everyone returning to attractions within the time window. I wish they we still lenient on the fp times, but unfortunately (at least at WDW) they will not let you.

Riding during the parade definitely cuts down your wait time! Although your fastpass idea would be desirable for those with fastpasses, I think those without the passes would get pretty annoyed. They have to make the wait times fair for those in the standby line as well, otherwise that line would never move.

I was just there last month and a Cast Member told me they are now enforcing the times on the Fastpasses. If you are more than 5 minutes after the time listed - you will be sent to the stand-by line. Might just be for the holiday crowds.....

Heres a great tip, on the back of the fastpass machines theres a little button in a hole. Sometimes the whole will be locked due to disney catching on, but most of the time there open. you can press the button as many times as youd like and get a ton of passes. For example, i got a pass for space mountain with my dad, we pressed the button and got like 6 passes out. We went on the ride, got off and hoped right back on. (disclaimer: Be careful for a cast memeber not to see you!)

You know what I do? Since my brother and my mom come with me to Disney during the summer, we get the fast passes, do the stroller swap, use the fast passes, and wait in line again.

In other parks like six flags fast pass coast more but seems to bee free at disney world

never been to florida but since i live in San Diego, CA which is about an hour & a half away & have been to disneyland many times & i got a tip for u fastpass users it doesnt always work & im not sure if disney has fixed the problem yet but almost all of those fastpass machines have a little button behind the machine & SOMETIMES (NOT ALL THE TIME) when u push that button the machine might spit out fast pass tickets. its better to do this with at least a group of 2 so someone could keep watch

Yes, as I mentioned in the video you can only hold one fastpass at a time. You won't be able to get a new ticket until your first Fastpass time window has passed.

sometimes the machines break and a person does it manually for u. if they do this they cant scan ur card so u can immediately get another fastpass for another ride

Just wanted to let you know, since this video was made back in 2011. WDW is being a bit more strict about the fast pass usage now. Just got back from there in January, and I don't think going back at 8pm like your example would work anymore. Just letting you know in case you wanted to update your video. =)

Yes, I did. I stayed at a Disney resort so when I purchased my tickets, they loaded them electronically onto our room keys.

Fastpass Return times are being strictly enforced now, they check your pass as you enter the line then the CM actually at the ride will take them.

I've only been to DL twice so I can't really vouch, but I didn't have any of those problems. In terms of what happened with your son, maybe the cast member was just concerned for his safety (doesn't justify the rudeness though...). In terms of the characters, I think sometimes they are in a rush to make it for a parade so they're not allowed to stop otherwise they will be late. I really don't know though. I'm glad your WDW experiences have been better!

Great tips!. But the cast members seam to be much more strict in Disneyland Paris, so you sadly have little chance in getting away with attempting to ride after your fast pass time :/

Due to the implementation of the new FastPass+ system, which relies on individuals arriving within their time slot, neither resort will accept any late pass. The new system is much more advanced allowing users to preschedule passes long before they enter the parks. It will also be use for dining. The system is currently in testing. Look for the mickey mouse circles around the park which light up. The new system uses RFID.

It's very possible at 9:00AM in early November :)
