I'm not actually a huge Star Trek nerd, but I have such strong opinions about DS9! TNG is my favorite, but my husband and I are working on watching through most of the Star Trek series, and we both LOVED DS9. The thing is, a lot of what's great about it is the long-term plot stuff going on. Watching it on TV when it originally aired, one episode a week, you probably wouldn't get as much of a sense of it as you would the way people tend to watch shows online now. I do have to admit that Sisko is mostly a boring character, but there are lot of episodes where the actor really gets to shine. The 20th century Earth episodes are probably some of the best time travel episodes in Star Trek. And the alternate universe episodes? So much better than you'd expect. Quark and his family have some good comedy episodes. The one where Nog does a bunch of trading, one red paperclip-style, might have been my husband's favorite. Miles O'Brien basically turns into a Bruce Willis character with MacGyver skills, which is kinda fun if you can ignore that he spent all of TNG standing in the teleporter room. I have one big issue with the show that my husband and I call Chekhov's clock, but I haven't seen anyone else complain about it, so maybe it's just us. When it comes down to it, though, whatever else you think about the show, DS9 has one shining beacon of light that can't be dimmed. It's the series with Garak, and you could never have a bad show with Garak. I rest my case.

You guys won't believe me on this, but there actually are health benefits to leeches. Not because you have "too much blood" but because they increase the blood perfusion in your skin.

Btw how did Pyrion manage to watch the unwatchable newer star treks, but cannot get past S1E1 of DS9?

I love TNG, but DS9 is absolutely the better show. Great characters that actually have arcs throughout the show, and a great overarching story over the latter few seasons.

I like how so much of this podcast is pyrion poking holes in the fact that there's too many monsters for civilization to exist in the Witcher, when a big plot point in the Witcher is that there's not enough monsters for witchers to make a living anymore.

omg this episode had so many false claims. Young blood is certainly better for transfusion, red blood cell labelling and phagocytosis occurs when cells are too rigid. The NHS uses practices set in place 60 years ago based on observation rather than science and as such blood is transfused still cold which reduces its malleability resulting huge percentages of transfused blood being destroyed by the body after transfusion its really not an efficient procedure... So young peoples red blood cells which are certainly more plastic result in higher efficiency rates and lower immuno pathology rates. secondly trepanning is still a modern surgery method for brain hematomas its just of course much more refined..
