I'm new to your channel, I just bought a student Cello, and your channel is helping me a lot. I'm not playing yet, I'm just watching and connecting information. Because I already had some injuries on my carpo tunnel for other reasons, and I work with the mouse all day. So I would like to make the best for don't play wrong and get more injuries. I love Cello since I was very young... 18 years ago I entered in classes but life reason took my focus away. I'm 43y now and I will give a try again. After watching many of your videos, just today I arrived in this one! And I'm very happy that you are recovering. We can feel how passionate you are to teach and to music. Your path now is complete... Is the rise of the Phoenix! I wish your personal challenges keep moving you for the best of yourself, and inspiring us as well! Please forgive my broken English! 😘

Hello! I also did the trigger surgery on 2 fingers. It's been 2 months and I steel have not much power to lift something or play the violin fully. I'm anxious about it, and sad. After how long you were able to lift 5-10 kilos without having a problem? Thank you for your time and videos!
@CelloCoach
@CelloCoach Год назад
Two fingers? Mine was only one thankfully. Since I could lift 10kg after 3 weeks WITHOUT my middle finger, that would not be helpful to you. With the full use of my middle finger, it took 8mo, and to fully play cello again, 1 year.

Had my middle finger on my left hand done a week ago. I play electric and accoustic guitar in our church worship band. Feels really good, only problem is my incision seems to be opening a little and I haven't heard back from my surgeon. Been since this morning. She also did my carpel tunnel release on the same hand in jan of this year. It's doing great as well. Thanks for posting.

I am a long time guitar player and had trigger finger surgery just over 2 weeks ago. I am already playing some guitar, but the tendons in the 2 fingers I had worked on feel really week. Did you experience that? Were you able to fully fret the instrument without pain for over 30 minutes? I'm hoping its just too early to tell, but now that you must have had full recovery, was it in fact, a full recovery? Thanks - and I subbed!

Thanks for sharing your story man. 2 years?! Been 2 weeks and much less severe and I have to fight off depressing thoughts. I’m seeing a dry needliest in 2 weeks and counting down the days. I was really happy to see all your videos post surgery so I figured your surgery had a positive outcome but was really grateful you shared that here. I am a guitarist and I have a “minor” locking in my left hand (fretting) middle finger. Never had a problem ever before came outta no where. It has improved slowly but I have been way too impatient. I will immobilize it until I see the dry needlist and stop obsessively trying to open and close my hand as a test. I’ve been applying anti inflammatory cream and taking ibuprofen I feel that has helped but it needs to be 110% healed. but your video/story has given me much needed perspective. Thank you again. So glad your surgery was a resounding success!!
@CelloCoach
@CelloCoach 10 месяцев назад
I am happy you learned from my story. Like you, I tried anti-inflammatory creme and ibuprofen and immobilising every day, and it just needed to be worked one. My symptoms started slow and became progressively worse. After surgery took 6mo of PT to finally start playing at full potential. Today, I no longer use any of those remedies and can honestly say this surgery was a complete success!

Both my 2 middle fingers have trigger finger. Been so for past 6 months, havent seen a hand s Therapist yet but i might consider surgery. By the way, i play the bass guitar occasionally and it sucks now that i cant play fluidly

Glad you're doing well. My wife had that happen, and for her, they did a steroid shot into the tissue, and she's been fine since. Surgery would have been next step. Best wishes for a fast recovery.

I am an amateur mandolin player, and absolutely love playing Irish music, jigs and reels on it. I also play the piano. But I cannot play the mandolin at the moment, as I have trigger finger. I am going in for my operation to release my trigger finger next month in July. I am concerned as to how long it will take to heal. But your video has made me feel more at ease. I know that I will have to be patient, with the healing process.
@CelloCoach

Yes, that surgery was nearly a year ago. Lost some grip strength but my playing is better. It did take 8mo to fully extend my finger, so be patient.

Your words are appreciated Jake. honestly, never would have thought my entire life would be so empty and sad without the ability to play cello. Now, I can play again (a blessing) but the lingering despair from 2 years of pain and failures is very heavy
