One thing i find funny is how people say "One Piece is too long, it shouldn't take X amount of episodes to find it" while pokemon is just as long or longer just for Ash to become a pokemon champion
Pokémon is longer. It did start 2 years before One Piece though. It ended with 1,269 episodes. One Piece isn't close to being done and will probably end in 5 years with a total of 1,400+ episodes. Making it take longer than Pokémon to end and One Piece just hitting it's final arc. Still making it the worst pacing anime to exist. Neat thing abkut Pokémon, you can just watch the seasons and not need context for the others.
Difference is pokemon feels more episodic so it doesn’t feel like you have to constantly be invested in it like one piece and personally I have a lot of anime friends and idk any that watched EVERY Pokémon episode😂 just the earlier seasons
The story isn't necessarily a sum of its episodes. Firstly its possible to watch one season or island or whatever without watching the rest there may be references but it aint vital. And also the episodes themselves have minor arcs or conclude themselves so its more of a cartoon kinda thing

Tbh people who complain about one piece being long is just hating for no reason. And kishimoto mainly focuses on naruto and sasuke and that took 700 chapters so imagine how many chapters it'll take for kishimoto to give side cast their props and explore the Naruto world even if he rewrited naruto it'll still take at least a 1000 chapters to explore the whole world if Naruto and characters. It seem like when someone says One Piece is too long OP fans always think it's from the prospective of Naruto fan or DBZ fan, they're all long and that doesn't make it easy to watch at all. At least Naruto/DBZ/Bleach fans ain't going tell you they're series isn't long. Also One piece is significantly longer than Naruto, if you take out the filler in OP its still just a 1000 episodes mean while if you do the same for Naruto, part 1 is like a 150 while Shippuden is like 300 that's a total of 450 which isn't half as long as OP. Also we know that OP could be shorter if not for the horrible pacing they decide to go for. Like look at Bleach with it's 698 chapters basically the same as Naruto in length but it has a much shorter anime. I agree on the first one , but isekai anime is yes , usually trash , but there are some exceptions like moshuko tensei or slime , yes they also make characters op , but they have an amazing story and the animation is always great , and I literally have never ever met 1 person who Hates slime , maybe mushoku for how he praises underpants ( which is understandable ) , but it is impossible to hate slime , especially with the fact that he grew threw out the series and wasn't just straight up god level

If im being completely honest, one piece was my first anime and has been my favorite since the beginning, but I went into one piece unknowingly it was 1000 plus episodes. Im glad I started to watch one piece cause it’s PEAK FICTION.
I agree that Digimon’s anime is better than the base Pokemon anime, because Pokemon just rehashed Ash’s journey over and over not really progressing it until the end. While Digimon had characters grow and age whilst dealing with some dark/hard subjects. But in the end I enjoy both👍

Honestly, I can agree with the Isekai take. It can produce lots of good stories, but most that are coming out nowadays are light-novel-to-anime, overly long titled, self insert gimmicky overpowered protagonist-having, harem-focused stuff.

I think AoT is a better anime in the way it was presented, but in what world do people compare Lelouch to Eren and think it is a contest? The protagonists are so different that even if the story itself has close plot points, it's completely different

Not finishing a 20-episode per season of a 5 season show is a lack of patience. Not finishing a 1000+ nearly 500 hours of content show is a legitimate time constraint for most people. The two are just not the same thing. The older you are the more responsibility you have and the less free time with it. Unless you work part time or are an anime reactor on RU-vid, it's just not feasible to catch up. Every time I've tried to watch one piece, something gets in the way and I have to put it off, only to forget what happened by the time I get back. Here's to hoping this newly animated remake or whatever is going to make the show more accessible.

I am going to somewhat agree with Choji on isekai. At this point it is very played out with just a gimmick. Get reincarnated or summoned to another world, get very op abilities, fanservice/waifu bait characters, harems, rpg mechanics when it would make more sense to just not have it.

Tracy, it's not that I don't have the patience to watch One Piece. It's that I've been watching it since I was in middle school, and I'm tired of catching up, stopping, and then having to re-watch the damn thing to remember what's going on
I’m not a massive anime fan. Besides from watching a few like Pokemon growing up until XY ended, every transformer generation including the anime’s like Beast Wars II which is criminally underrated for me as a humongous transformer fan who’s watched every transformer generation. But my anime hot take is that I simply like Transformers way more than Gundam. Because I collected a lot of those toys, DVDs, and comics from IDW growing up and I still do. And anime exclusives like Leo prime when he worked with Optimus Primal in beast wars II. I found it awesome when they defeated a giant mech together. Definitely an underrated prime and one of my favorites too. I do like other anime’s like Yu Yu Hakusho that is my favorite because of the action and characters, hellsing which is my second favorite due to Alucard being a badass character, and Hunter x hunter because of the characters like Kurapika and Killua. But I even find the hot takes like with one piece with it being “too long” or “too many episodes”. I find that reasoning way overdone, for me. I’m just not that interested in watching it because it’s not really my taste, but I do respect people who like it, even though it’s not my cup of tea.

I used to think I wasn't a fan of isekai til I thought about it and realized that 2 of my favorite and earliest introductions to anime were exactly that. Inuyasha and .Hack//sign.

When it comes to Ghibli films, in all honesty all of them are super good. I will admit that Spirited Away is Top 3 for sure but yes, I wouldn't even be surprised if folks put Howl's Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke above it. The depth each film has is amazing and teaches a story, but when talked about Ghibli films while I was in High school (31 yr old here) the major talk of films were definitely HMC and PM with SA coming into the topics third of the way. Maybe it's different of the newer Gen, but hey all of them are amazing films literally. Just my opinion.
Code geass is a master piece of series. It belongs in the top 20 anime of all time factually. But comparing code geass to Aot is like comparing sky diving to sleeping for 8 hours. They simply aren’t comparable. They both are dark stories, but that’s really where the comparisons end.
One that seems to be a hot take of mine (according to the anime fans I talk to, which admittedly isn't many) is that Princess Mononoke (specifically the sub, which is odd since I'm a primarily dub watcher) is the best animated movie of all time...
nah, you need to rewatch the end of aot. im pretty sure eren says himself that ultimately the reason why he did the rumbling had more to do with his selfish desire to see an empty world across the ocean. its true that he cared about his friends and wanted to protect them, but from the begining to the end what motivated him was vengance and the desire to destory his enemies to be free.
I actually agree with the Digimon vs Pokemon thing. Pokemon tends to not let their characters evolve and actually have them backtrack. With each season of Digimon the story is, mostly, self-contained in that season and the characters go through real development. Just look at Ken from Digimon 02
4:48 toe to toe is a strong word choice but I also still think that Sasuke is literally just a strong guy with a sword because if you compare him to the likes of Zoro who was an actual swordsman there's a big difference

Here’s my hot take: Luffy’s devil fruit should’ve just stayed as the gum gum fruit. We see these characters viewed as underdogs (Asta, Deku, Naruto, Luffy) who don’t have any natural talent who’s sole character arc is “Im going to train hard enough to be the best!” And that’s a perfect anime protagonist arc. HOWEVER, then the writers flip the switch and give them BROKEN powers (nullify all other magic, get the powers of the #1 hero, have the most powerful tailed beast’s chakra) and then they give Luffy the powers of a GOD?!?!?! It would’ve been more inspirational to the viewers if Luffy JUST had rubber powers and defeated Kaido and eventually become king of the pirates from sheer will power and training. And yes you can argue that Luffy had to go through all the training and stress and almost die in order to awaken his devil fruit. BUT, once he was granted those powers, it basically means all that training and stress and all those things you learned, yeah, they’re useless now. You don’t need them. Just sayin

Anti Heroes do a multitude of Bad Things that they didn't have to do for their own selfish reasons and gain. Then as time goes on they slowly start becoming good but tend to still stick to their own methods. Examples being Venom, Red Hood, Punisher, Deadpool etc.

Harems: the misfit of the demon king academy, fruit of evolution, the strongest sage with the weakest crest, etc 2. Unnecessary ecchi fanservice: the time i reincarnated as a slime, when I was reincarnated as the 7th prince, high school prodigies have it easy even in another world, etc 3. Back to back moral controversies: the rising of the shield hero, the redo of healer, Mushoku tensei, etc 4. Incompatible/boring protagonists that hinder exploration of world building (which is the main point of watching an isekai)

Like kinda agree with demon slayer hot take, like the anime has a blatantly open plothole, of nezuko becoming immune to sunlight without blue lily, the fact that the pursuit for the blue lily amounts to nothing and was kind of introduced for no reason at all. Kitsubiji being a dumb guy and killing of half of his own forces, the fact that tanjiro only fought one of the six lesser moons, while the rest conveniently disappeared from the plot. Like till the spider plot everything was great. Like till then the author gave proper exposition and fight scenes, but after Rengoku's death it seemed as if the show was only focusing on the fight scenes and flashbacks, basically parts that could be animated well and recieve good highlight. The characters in the later stages were introduced and killed off quickly. With the only build up given to them through flashbacks. The world building as well later on was abysmal. Hence dropped the show.

Hot takes: - The Digimon anime is overall better story(s) than Pokemon because Pokemon was held back by how the kept ending Ash's adventure each season. Ash was constantly in the new guy seat for most season coming up short against opponents with far less experience or simply blowing the ass out of the whole thing with shit we never saw before or since and while Pokemon only recently finally moved on from Ash Digimon constantly goes to new casts with new characters and new dynamics and should old characters appear they've often grown or changed noticeably - Bleach's latter half was bad, like really bad and people want to ignore or deny it because the animated final arc is good and the lightnovels were good even though both were created as a way to fix the obvious and glaring mistakes of the manga. if you dont read the supplementary material (like most people) it would just be bad and underwhelming - Eren was basically had a worse feeling Lelouch ending. he becomes the enemy of everyone even getting his friends to kill him only to have the peace he let them win get destroyed in their lifetime. it was so poorly received that somethings had to be changed in order to make Eren not look like such a btch and distance the destruction from the main casts' lifetime in order to make it a little less depressing. it also doesnt help that unlike Lelouch who gained the conviction to give his life after tramatic failures, Eren (if i remember correctly) was essentially railroaded into this choice and didnt want to make it -Tanjiro is probably close to if not the least interesting character that isnt a nothing demon - Soul Eater makes no attempt to reprimand Maka's mother for outright abandoning her and her duties even as the world itself was falling apart and Maka was hurt or dying at various point nothing comes from that end and that coupled with Maka's aggressive misandry towards men that arent her dad just made Maka look like an idiot
