@dmail00

The right handed knife is intended for right handed people. It allows you to use the knife in a comfortable and natural position which is with a slight camber to the right, yet giving a straight cut through the leather. This goes for using with a rule (plastic really?) as well as free hand, see Terrick's video on the subject ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7xDOuyOHIHM.html

Thanks, I just ordered a blade for my CharterMade L'indespensable holder. Just as you said about the bevel. I want the flat side of blade on the Left because I am right handed. I ordered the blade before watching your video. I ordered the right handed blade but I wrote a description explaining what I want. Now I'll send another message to them hoping they understand and get me the correct blade. Also, I have a terrible time cutting leather peices to correct size. I will try your idea about trim allowance. That may solve my accuracy problem and let me make some better quality items. Thanks, Subscribed

I really enjoyed that intro. For my workflow, I usually sew my pieces together before I do my final trim. I've been trying out the trimming before sewing, but sometimes the edges don't line up afterwards. Perhaps it's a tension thing with how I'm pulling my thread. Question: what unsexy parts of being an entrepreneur have you faced and how did you overcome them?
@LowTideLeather
@LowTideLeather 5 лет назад
Thanks Jan! If I had to choose my top 3 unsexy parts of the biz I would probably say the inconsistent nature of selling handmade products, the discouragement that comes from it, and being overwhelmed by managing EVERYTHING. The physical and legal aspects are manageable. Its the emotional ones that get ya. I wouldn't say I've totally overcome them, however once I stopped comparing myself and my work to other makers, I gained a ton of confidence that makes it way less discouraging. Ive accepted that dry-spells with sales are just part of retail, and to not take it personal. Stay busy during those slow weeks. As for managing everything, im still trying to figure that out, haha. Thanks for the Q! Hope that helped

@LowTideLeather

I have really liked water based glues over the contact cement because its less messy, thinner and the fumes are pretty strong with the cement. Both are great for adhering leather, I just prefer the water based glue. I use Aquilim 315
