TRIM, EDGE and BRUSH before REEL MOVING the lawn 

Today is Saturday, the 13th of April. Temperature is around 16 degrees and the sun is out.
Lawn is in need of trimming and edging, so I use a string trimmer for round edges and other places where the blade edger is not ideal. I normally edge once per week, but I have skipped this task for a couple of weeks, being more focused on other lawn stuff.
Before mowing the lawn, I use my 160 cm wide DIY brush to remove worm casts, which are still high in numbers this time a year in my area. Another benefit is that the grass blades will stand up.
When I have used the brush, I prefer to go over the lawn with a rotary mower before reel mowing, so I use the Honda at its lowest setting at 19 mm (can go lower when applying washers :-).
Using the Toro Greensmaster 1000 afterwards is a breeze, since the 11 blade reel will not be struggling with cutting any long stragglers the brush has risen to standing position :-)
