I’ve watched you for YEARS and it’s awesome to see you collaborating with Brent and Matt!!! Im sooo glad to see you working together to capitalize on your experience and Brent’s knowledge - what an amazing combination!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
We used that exact Greek revival moulding for our 1850s farmhouse. We went top of casing to floor with it on a plinth and it looks amazing. Added a 3/8” staff bead to act as a stop bead on the old windows and finish out the panel below the window. So happy I found you a year ago!
Happy to see Richard in this video. I'm sure it was encouraging for him. Thanks for the run down on moldings I like how you mentioned you kept the proportions right but played with the theme of the moldings.
So glad you guys brought Richard into this. I was just thinking Matt and Richard needed to do a video or a podcast, but I realize Matt does mostly construction related stuff and may not really fit.
Not sure how common my opinion is but I far prefer a Shaker or Craftsman style molding over many of the classical moldings shown here. These moldings make me feel like a need a suit for dinner.
I love the look of these older trim packages. It's hard to emulate that style in a modern production-built house, though. What would you recommend trim-wise to put some 'old soul' in a newer house with typical 8 foot ceilings? For example, an 8" baseboard might seem too tall.
If you get into the classical orders it will allow you to lay out proportions on any ceiling height by just learning a little bit of maths (little geometry and proportions). Also Brent Hull has a video on his channel about this very subject. I hop back with a link. . .brb

Kuiken brothers in NJ or Windsor One will ship. Only drawback is they only ship finger-jointed material. You can not get clear poplar runs. We had a local shop make us a set of knives. Cost us an extra $600 but completely worth it.
