I like both, I really enjoy the explanations of the trimming procedure. I would love to see the entire horse (or mule) in a before and after so we can see the difference in their stance. But thank you so much for your content. ❤️

These mules are in rocky Country its not a good idea to remove to much sole. 2nd The periople serves as a transition between the soft skin and the hard hoof wall. It starts as a band of soft, rubbery horn a few millimeters thick near the coronet and becomes a thin glossy layer distally (toward the ground). We rasp the outer layer to get rid of flare doesn't effect health of hoof
@@caleberickson_The_Dying_Breed I can't understand your comment 100 % because I am not an English native speaker. My dictionary doesn´t show the translation of the technical terms of a hoof (exception: "frog" - it is mentioned in some videos).
I think you may have a Hinny, not a Mule. Horrible History; During WWI the English prefered Hinnys over Mules. Hinnys are bigger, stronger, more docile than mules. Also the skull of the hinny is far more horse like than mule, so is the hoof. You can use a horse shoe on a hinny without issue, but for a mule you need to bang on it so it ovals and, in the military where standardization is the key to victory... means you have to have premade shoes for both the horse/hinny and another inventory for mules. Thats why the British went with hinnys over mules. Here is where the horror lies and why I know this. My grandfather was a Georgia Cracker. He grew up driving mules, he started at age 8 walking behind mules. By the time he was 18, he was sick of mules and the family farm was ...where the Great Georgia Badlands are at now. No farm, no education, so he joined the Army. They said he was going to be an Infantry Man and a Cook. 1916? The cooks used chuck wagons. The chuck wagons were pulled by mules. His unit was one of the first to go over there. They had mules, and they were give horse/hinny gasmasks and told "If the animal smells gas, they will bolt right down the track dragging that damn wagon across everyone killing people, breaking legs, wrecking the front lines. Get the gas mask on the animal first while you hold your breath, do NOT let that animal loose. If it even looks like its going to bolt? Shoot it in the head as quickly as you can". .....the 'roads' were beaten down by tens of thousands of feet so the 'road' without excavation was a trench. Gas shocked mules.... mowed down hundreds. The damn gas masks the Brits gave the Americans simply didn't fit.... my grandfather had the names of every town he fought in on his left upper arm, all the squadmates he lost on his outside right forearm, and 6 names of mules on his inside right forearm. He was glad the day came when the first Model T pickup came to camp, he was devastated when the head cook shot the mule saying "We're eating good tonight boys!" ...............................so....anyways, I think you got a hinny there, not a mule.
