David, ah shadowin' yuh eh. I'll be home in 12 days and right now you're schooling me on where all the good eats are. 😋 I can't wait to touch down meh mouth waterin' alreadie.
I observe that you are experiencing east indian, chinese, syrian and chinese. However the African population is a very large population and has a very large influence also. So im hoping you got to experience that. Bless.
I really appreciate you doing the Venezuelan food I am Trinidadian or Venezuelan heritage as much as I enjoy the east Indian cuisine which most people focus on a lot of people don't focus on the Spanish heritage or the Creole heritage as much when talking about Trinidad
I was shocked as well to see Venezuelan food being tasted because I've never seen anyone venture outside of Indian cuisine here I'm really hoping he got to try creole food or at least Sunday Lunch
@@crunchychicken2 yes I was very shocked also my great-grandmother came to Trinidad from Venezuela to learn English married a blackened Indian man and had my mother my family is very mixed but we're all trinidadians. And my mother married a black American who loves the Trinidadian culture
Yes, that Debe truck will be my, Plant-based stop, for delicious plant- based food. The woman who explained the different food choices was very thorough and genuine. She, truly is connected with the food she's selling. Let's watch how we use the word, Vegan! Love you, Mr. Peru!
Some of the comments on your feed here is truly out of this world. I don't know why people have to be so negative and make inappropriate comments. This is for enjoyment not to air your pet peeves. If you don't like something, go to another site. They comment on how you eat, who you have in the video, how they eat, how they talk, who you visit, who you do not, etc. etc David, be yourself. You thoroughly enjoy all kinds of food and all kinds of people. There will always be haters or self righteous ones who think they should be given a platform to air their degrading comments. You cannot cover everybody and everything. Just don't give in to the nastiness. There is a lot out there.
@@Davidsbeenhere Thank you for showing 🇹🇹. If anyone is to blame, I remember recommending Jason to you. I thought and still think he’s great to show you around…🙏🏽
If I used these videos to learn about Trinidadian culture and Cuisine, I would think Africans had little to no influence or existence in Trinidad. I’m mixed of Trinidadian heritage Indian, African and Venezuelan, but please don’t be biased. Expose our African roots too!
David I like how you enjoyed the saheena and those ladies were super friendly, also the Venezuelan food look appetizing, and I like that you know so much about it. Every new Video is getting even better,Thankyou so much,
I went to this same Venezuelan restaurant at 11:20am today Sunday May 29th because David highlighted them so I had Venezuelan food in Caracas and Magarita and it was amazing so I was excited to know I can have it in TRINIDAD 🇹🇹 I'm disappointed the service was piss poor it had one Venezuelan family seated I entered the dining area and sat I spoke to a lady and she said someone would take My order no one did I was waiting for awhile it's not like the place busy so I realized wait so your not Venezuelan so your presence isn't important so I got up to leave and that's when they decided to take My order I said don't bother TRINI PEOPLE DON'T PATRONIZE THIS PLACE DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU... THEY'RE UNFRIENDLY!!!
These videos are insightul however limited in variety concerning different ethnic foods of Trinidad, because Trinidad is a melting pit. Yes,we all love roti and doubles, but too much heavy concentration on roti and doubles. There's a host of creole food that was not highlighted except for souse. Tobago has excellent creole food, such as crab and dumpling, provisions and stewed fish and callaloo. It was not highlighted whatsoever. Mostly, indian food which is not correct representation of Trinbagonian food on a whole. David kept saying Indian food, Trinidad Indian food is not Indian food from India it's different in taste and appearance. I believe the tour guide should have been someone who knows about the full culture and history of Trinidad and Tobago and her cuisine, the presentation in my opinion could have been alot better .
Janese: I quite agree 💯% with you. I am not sure about bias but I can tell you one thing for sure, every single video that I have seen about street food in Trinidad is about roti and doubles. Trinidad is an island country of many cultures and every one should be highlighted. If that wasn't done in this case, then I blame Tourism Trinidad and anybody else who was responsible for his visit to Trinidad. Let's wait and see the other videos and then we can really criticize. Let's not blame David because it's what was arranged for him. He is doing a good job, though.
Awwww maan!! David, Chaguanas is my hometown (where I was born). Wish you had done more down there especially roadside oysters and a visit to the market. As usual love your videos. Keep on trucking maan!
So great to see you enjoying the diversity of Trindad and Tobago foods David. Its wonderful to see you enjoying our doubles, bake and shark, and other dishes. Continue to enjoy your visit, with delicious food, touring our islands. This makes me proud to be part of TT .💕💕💕
Sahenna is my favorite even more than doubles, can wait to see some cowheel soup fish broth trini style stew chicken and marcorini pie and so forth, I'm turely enjoying all these videos David. It really does put a smile on my face 😀😁😂😊😉😇
@@p.branker6325 try all those dishes in Tobago, eat curry couch twice , went spear fishing etc did alot there, he is just doing the videos in order when he came so have to be patient for those to come.
David I just loved how you ate the doubles, straight out of paper that’s how I typically have it . I grew up in El Dorado , Trinidad and doubles from the doubles guy in front of Foodmasters grocery store in Tunapuna was it for me so happy to see this common go to street food being showcased on your platform Saying hello from Oceanside California . I just love how original you are in showcasing the food of Trinidad & Tobago and Jason Peru is doing an excellent job in explaining the distinct taste of Trinidad cuisine . Thumbs up to both of you Awesome!
Same things over and over. Haven't seen African influenced cuisine yet but I seeing Venezuela. And dont tell me these people don't know proper African restaurants to go to. And dont tell me bout Tobago because is not only Tobago have that. Making it look like that is all it have here.
@@reeneljoseph a series with the same things over and over..I watched mark and also sonny go to Jamaica. Every day they had different dishes from african to Indian rastafarian and also different techniques and styles that really showcase Jamaica's culture. This here is just redundant
@@trinimama971 I know he is going to go Tobago and show African dishes and stuff but the way this is done is showing a divide imo. But it is no fault of David though.
@@timothyjohnson7476 that clearly shows you don't have paitence he is doing the stuff in order when he was Here , tried Trini Chinese, obviously indian, bake and shark, vene , but I get it , you see those stuff when he went to Tobago.
How's the market for Venezuelan cuisine in Trinidad and Tobago? Trinidad looks like the Singapore of the Caribbean. Lots of cultural cross fertilisation going on that's reflected in its cuisine.
Search images of Saheena and you would see it in the original form which most people know. Growing up the dasheen/taro leaves were chopped and mixed into the split pea batter then fried.
Most of our Indo- Trini dishes are inspired by the relative culture/tribes that came from india to the Caribbean through ibdentureship. Doubles is inspured by chole bhature. However most of the East Indian diaspora are not aware of the native roots of their food styles because we are not aware of our ancestry or where specifically in India our ancestors came from. Our common hindi dialect spoken is bhojpuri that I do know.
Seeing you all over enjoying doubles which is one of our most loved meals is amazing. I think doubles at the price , texture and flavour it is really one of prized foods.
These are some of our food, but you are only focus on Indian food. There is Pelau, Coocoo and fish, provision and fish. You promoting Venezuela food and other country food.
I visited Trinidad 🇹🇹 in December 2017 Watching these videos is making me miss the energy and FOOD! I almost forgot how delicious it all is. Thanks for reminding me lol. I’m from Brooklyn NYC and we have a lot of Caribbean people here and restaurants but nothing is better than island food from the source! and of course cheaper lol. Jamaica is also high on my list to visit
yeah the food here in nyc does not compare to getting it in trinidad or jamaica. there are some good places out here for sure, but nothing compares to the islands
@@Ajm833 Just saying not directing to anyone but just providing facts there is “curry hill” in NY top of the line Indian restaurant, curry hill in London , Gordon Ramsay did an entire show on Indian restaurants in London plus he went to India and learnt to cook there is an entire series on that Plus Rick Stein India series , not to mention Indian food in San Jose , New Jersey wow ! I have worked in Wall Street in NY for a world famous personality Mr Avi Sivan , he is now retired, he is Israeli and his favorite food is Indian food palak paneer and the vegetable curries he loves it , most companies I have worked at Indian food is the number one take out the company orders for staff lunches etc that’s with no budget , budgeted is subway sandwiches and pizza there are michelin stars Indian restaurants in NY and even in Thailand and like I said CTM as the late Anthony Bourdain used to call it is the National dish of England CTM - Chicken Tikka Masala
I like how you enjoy your food and definitely how much you love Trini food. There is little that compares. Your eyes were rolling in your head while eating the doubles. Now I want my Trini food!
That aloo stuffed thing is called aloo pie. But we also have aloo paratha too. If no one told you, half of Trinidad’s population consists of Indian descendants who’s ancestors came to Trini as indentured laborers during British colonization. Our country is multi-cultural..🇹🇹
Bro there is no comparison between Cachapas and Indian Dosas! There are two completely different sides of the spectrum in terms of taste, ingredients, texture, etc. They are both excellent in their own way.
ok Chef Jason. let the man eat the saheena how he want it nah man...lol. I know you want him to taste it without channa because you do get the true taste of the product that way..you shuould have recommend to David to eat one without channa. btw ( napkino= servilleta.) .haaa , loved it though!
@@ryanalfonso9004 Yes I looked at the video again and I am pretty sure it is opposite Price Plaza along the Endeavor road not too far from the entrance of the mall.
People don't visit they're UNFRIENDLY I just visited today Sunday May 29th service wasn't nice I waited 15mins the place wasn't busy and only when I was leaving they suddenly found time to take My order I said don't bother TRINI PEOPLE DON'T BOTHER PATRONIZING this restaurant I'M WARNING ⚠️ YOU
Jason i didn't expect that fake american accent from you, you sound quite silly!!! If Trinis only know much people abroad love our accent they'll never fake an american accent.
I hate the taste of Katchori but you made it look tasty.i am a saheena person. Trinidad has some of the tastiest food. I don't know I felt like you've tried doubles 100 times..lol it's good but everyday. I hope you got some unique bites, a pork chow, Sunday lunch, oil down and fry fish some differences. You'd be suprised to know the Afro Trinidadians cook differently, I have cousins who've never had Dhal. The breakfast consist of Saltfish and Fry bakes , with avocado sometimes. Coconut bakes and anything, smoked herrings etc.
Just so you all out there with the negative comments I haven’t been to Trinidad in almost 16 years and nobody could have done a better job than Jason Peru I don’t know the guy I never met him but his descriptive contact is excellent, he is an amazing host and presenter this is the only country that has such comments so that’s not a good reflection of T & T so maybe you all could work on that Amen ! & Hallelujah!
Did Candice and Peru have to exaggerate everything? Chef Peru up in the man's face explaining every detail as if David didn't understand what the vendor showed him. Maybe Chef Peru should work in Tourism. Doublesology?? This isn't the first time David is earing doubles. But Peru have to say the same thing over and over
Me too .. it’s actually pretty mixed but I also though it was like Jamaica, with mostly blacks people .. I can’t believe how many descendant of Asians are there 😍
If David didn’t cover the cuisines that you are hoping he would in this series. There is always a next time and you all can take him around to have him cover it He is a very nice personable individual who truly loves people , you can see that in all of his you tube videos countries like Pakistan he shows the worlds how kind and friendly the people are there , Oman Be knowledgeable and encouraging in all aspects of life say words to encourage and uplift the effort here
@@KMBganpat28 he is going in order so most of his time here will be indian and African etc see he had Chinese cusine and vene cusine now, tomorrow will he crispy pork I think but he did try African food here but more in Tobago , so paitence you see them!
@@KMBganpat28 well Trinidads population is mostly Indian (I just looked up the demographics) .. however, I believe when he goes to Tobago, they’ll be a lot more african(creole) influenced cuisines .. I mean I didn’t even know some speak Spanish and make Venezuelan and Lebanese food in Trinidad .. yummyyy 😋
I had Venezuelan food in Margareta and Caracas and the food was terrible. They literally try to put corn and cheese in everything. Venezuelan food is not Caribbean food.
David you rock man. You make a great host and just are super down to earth. Thanks for the vids and keep up the great work brother! Cheers from Baltimore
Another episode that is 🔥. Good job boss. Can't wait to see the episode when he eats black pudding with bread and pepper sauce and his visit to Tobago. I like doubles but black pudding was my go to street food.
Love this video I never knew that Venezuelan food was available in Trinidad 😂 The roles changed when it came to the Vene food, David started teaching Jason David you are really teaching me about my own culture and I can't wait to try that food when I visit My trinis I wanna ask something The people who we refer to as Spanish, are they all Venezuelans? I thought some were descendants of the Spaniards that colonized Trinidad
Most are Venezuelans who have left Bc or the terrible economy in their country also bc of its close proximity (Trinidad is 7 miles off the coast of Venezuela).. but it’s pretty common to find cities, street names, and people with Spanish names and last names like Garcia, Rodriguez, etc
Not all are Venezuelans, some are Cuban or Dominican but 'Spanish' has become a kind of catch all term to refer to all Spanish speaking immigrants. There are some locals that we call Spanish but in actuality they are just mixed race people with light skin that have very little if any actual Spanish ancestry.
@@Rman775 oh wow You know what would be helpful When we teaching demographics, instead of saying "other" for minorities, listing at least most of them Then again maybe we teach it just at different levels, I left Trinidad after first form of high school (so maybe I just missed out)
@@jasminespencer2872 yes some are .. but the Spaniards were the first to colonize ( hence the Spanish name “Trinidad” Which means trinity)..so it’s not uncommon that descendants of slavery and “coolie” labor have European (Spanish) last names .. I think less than 3% of the population are pure European.. most are south Asian, East Asian and African descendants
My boy can EAT!! There's nothing like going to T&T and getting some doubles, roti's, KFC, Chiney roast pork at a parlor....maaaaaannn. When I die, if heaven don't want me take me to Trinidad!!!🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
Not sure how much of this series you have left, but I've noticed you've shown basically no AFRO-Trinidadian culture. Aside from this and the Chinese video, every video has been on INDO Trini culture. Is there a reason for that?
I just love when a woman is still down to earth and can stand on the side of the road and eat food the Trini to the bone way. Double salute Candice. And big ups to the man behind the wheel David from foodieruntt. Great upload guys. One love from beautiful Trinidad and Tobago ❤ 🇹🇹.
Be slow man, ur taking such big bites n eating to fast, looks like u hv eaten for a long time. Anyways Trinidan food looks delicious n tempting though. Bless u guys
David i do hope you enjoyed being in Trinidad and that you found out food delicious. I can tell you that of all where you have been Trinidad is the fire that I have heard you say so many times when eating that you are happy😋😋😋😋😍😍😍 .
Furthermore I just wanted to say the negative comments are so typical of Trinidad and I really thought you all have evolved I live in Oceanside California and there is actually no Trinidadian out here . My friends at church loves my curry dishes etc and often ask me how to make curry like that and I happily refer them to one of Jason’s numerous you tube videos . I thank the Lord for raising up a young man like Jason Peru in Trinidad he is doing an amazing job showcasing not only the Indian food but it’s culture hats of to you Jason and David also Candace from Oceanside California
david I'm from Trinidad and your visits to some places even open my eyes to visit. thanks for the great reviews and keep up the awesome energy. Be back soon! 🇹🇹💯💪🏾
why are you mostly highlighting indian food , trinidad has much more dishes from various ethnic background you are going to several places but showing the same doubles etc..this is not highlighting our varied food at all nor is indian food our main dishes of the island ..you showcased chinese yes, but what about african, pourtugese, amerindians etc. is your tour guide holding back
@@candyemporium to be fair, Trinidad is heavily Indian influenced more than any other island in the Caribbean.. maybe they wanted to highlight the diversity first since most foreigners, when they think Caribbean, they think either black or Latino
Glad that you went to my birth country! 🥹❤️ I was born in Port of Spain. My grandparents and family live in Freeport, pittyvale and saint james. Edit: go to my other countries “Jamaica and Spain” you will love it too!
