Having watched a couple of other Rouge flights, they really provide a low-cost type of flight, noting the tight legroom, the minimal meals and the lack of IFE. For some people, the long-haul flight is part of their vacation (a disappointment here), but for others it is something to endure before arriving at their vacation destination. That's what we have here.

Really amazing video my friend! I loved the wing view you had, and that's good news because I'll be 2 rows ahead (34A) in a couple weeks! Your editing continues to stun me... Keep up the fantastic work!

The comment at the end of the video was interesting because that is exactly what my parents said. Back in August my parents went to Croatia and took Air Canada Rouge from Toronto to Zagreb and they returned in December with Lufthansa since Air Canada Rouge stops the Toronto to Zagreb route in October (basically it runs that route from June to October) and it was like night and day between the Rouge and Lufthansa. They said there was nothing wrong with the Rouge flight itself, it was a smooth flight and that's all that you really want but the rest of the flight not fun for two senior citizens in their late 70's they basically said what was mentioned at the end of this video that they won't take Air Canada Rouge again. The funny part was that at the time the round trip with Rouge was $771 each but other flights weren't that much more, if I remember British Airways was just over $800 US, Lufthansa was $850 US, Virgin was similar in price to British Airways, and others weren't that much more expensive either but I chose this one because it was direct to Zagreb from Toronto and since my dad's cousin lives in the Toronto area, I drove them up a few days earlier so that they could visit with him and he sent some gifts to family over there with my parents.

I can never understand why people love flying rouge. It's literally an oven on those planes, they don't have personal vents so you'll feel like you're dying after the 2nd hour of flying.
@theflyinggoose-tripreports1114
I feel you. I was lucky enough to fall asleep shortly after dinner. Woke up close to the UK again.

5:06 The A220 is manufactured at YMX. Not at YUL.

Very cool trip report. Was the food included? I just booked 4 flights BCN-FRA-BOS-YUL-BCN (last flight with AC Rouge 767) - all that for 178€ :D Also liked and subbed!
@theflyinggoose-tripreports1114
Yeah, the meal was included. FRA-BOS is on LH, isn't it? Lufthansa is great on longhaul flights. Thanks btw!

Rouge includes meals on TA flights but not on flights within NA including Hawaii. Those flights have buy onboard meals which are OK.

I have a long haul segment as part of a United booking, didn't pay much attention at the "Rouge" part while booking lol. Do they have charging ports for phones, or should I plan for the battery to last 8+ hours?
@theflyinggoose-tripreports1114
They have charging ports on their 767s, usually between the seats in front of you.

So you got duped by United too. Never again.

Hi, i am thinking to tak this route from Bogota -Seattle, and looks like this is the most low fly cost finding! So i would like to know how is the experience, we usually fly by air europa.. Thank you
@theflyinggoose-tripreports1114
I'd give the flight 4/10 tbh. The legroom was minimal and the food was mediocre and do not forget the missing IFE screens. If you can book a legacy carrier, better book with them. Can't compare with Air Europa though, since I've never flown them before.
@HKberg
@HKberg 5 лет назад
He I just booked AMS-TOR TOR-BOG. AMS-TOR is with Air Canada, TOR-BOG with Rouge. I also had the chance to fly with Air Europa, however you have to pay €100,- for luggage extra with their light fair (KEEP THAT IN MIND cause Air Europe was only €30,- more expensive initially....till I saw the extra charge on luggage!). Considering TOR-BOG is 5,5hrs it should be doable

Thanks, When it comes to AC, I don't take chances, I have my own entertainment and have my own food, snacks, apple, etc, As long as I get to my destination safely and on time. I also try to avoid any type of communication with the unionized staff and only talk to them when absolutely have to.

Does the seats have USB for charge the phone?
@theflyinggoose-tripreports1114
They had universal power outlets in the seats, don't remember having seen USB ports though.
@annagalati34

You are better bringing a portable phone charger.

The fares are cheap for a reason!!!!!! Rouge is a discount LEISURE airline and it is less expensive then mainline Air Canada and other major carriers. Know before you go to avoid surprises.
@steffenwengorz4035
@steffenwengorz4035 5 лет назад
May be less expensive out of Canada, but e.g. Berlin-Toronto is not a tad cheaper than mainline AC, booked Rouge anyway since it is direct vs change in Heathrow or Frankfurt. I knew Rouge before, but in the booking process you're not even seeing it is not the real Air Canada since they use the same code for flight numbers, and the "operated by Rouge" shows up only when you click on the details button. I bet that's well hidden on purpose. It's going to be a leisure trip anyway so that fits. Long haul coach is not to enjoy but to endure, screens or not. We'll bring our handbags full of gadgets, all we need is power, plus I forked out more for extra legroom. Survive we will, the fun begins after landing. And then some.
@iVince905
@iVince905 5 лет назад
But the problem is they don't charge like they're a leisure or low cost airline!
@annagalati34

Surprised after booking with United. Found out after it was through Air Canada Rouge and got stuck with it. So surprises happen ny being duped.

Rougerhea = terrible airline and dinosaur 767s and no cheaper than mainline AC. I would hate to see how these Crew would deal with an emergency onboard, it would be terrifying. No cofffee? probably the machines were broken. Thanks for sharing!
@theflyinggoose-tripreports1114
Well, they had coffee but they've offered it for dinner. Which obviously isn't the smartest choice if you want to sleep.
@jonathandpg6115
@jonathandpg6115 5 лет назад
also they do the safety training as well just like AC or jazz etc. Also it IS cheaper than mainline, just some routes are no longer served by mainline because they where losing money flying it. It was rouge or get rid of it.
@theflyinggoose-tripreports1114
@@jonathandpg6115 And do not forget that Rouge mostly flies to tourist destinations, i.e. they need a higher capacity than on their normal 767; 279 pax on rouge vs. 211 on the mainline.
