Great review - thanks. It's made me think about booking these seats instead of Economy. More researching to come before I book!

Thank you for this I found it helpful. I always wondered is it better to be in Economy and keep the cash or save up for Business or 1st for a long flight like this. Premium Economy is an interesting option.

Thank you! On long flights, especially eastbound ones, I personally value the flat bed of Business very highly as I can't sleep as well when sitting. But on flights where I don't plan on sleeping, Premium Economy is just the right balance of comfort and price for me.

Very useful. I'm hoping to head to London in August and I'm still torn between Virgin Atlantic and BA/American. On one hand, VA looks much more comfortable and seems to have better value for the money, but they don't have any non-stops. BA/American do, but they're way more pricey and all of the reviews are rather meh towards them. If you've done both, which would you choose?

I think it really depends on how important a direct flight is to you. If I understand correctly, you are flying from the US, so it will be a feeder flight in the US and the direct flight to London. In this case, I would value a comfortable seat for the longest leg more than anything else. As you may have seen, I personally wouldn't choose BA Y+ again on a flight which I want to catch some sleep, so I'd totally go with Virgin. That is, unless you consider mileage programs... :P Hope I was able to help you!

That's a good point, but I actually like the pen, as I can fill out arrival cards or things like that without standing up and grabbing my backpack, which is kind of nice imo.

After spending fortunes over the last 20 years on business class flights , last week I flew to Manchester from Atlanta Virgin Atlantic on a A 330 the worst plane I have ever flown on and decided that from now on I will fly out business and back premium economy and keep the extra $1000 in my pocket. You only want somewhere to sleep on night flights.

Too much take off and landing footage. Not enough inflight review. Pet hate I’m afraid.

I agree-way, WAY too much-especially with an obstructed view. Nobody wants to watch a wing, an engine cowling, and some dark clouds for that long. Also, I doubt anybody cares much about walking behind people and staring at their backsides on the jetway or deplaning. These problems are not unique to you. Many, if not most, vloggers suffer from them. What people DO want to see is the seat, storage, amenities, and food. I fly BA from California to London and connect to other cities on the Continent exclusively because they are the only nonstop from my mid-size airport. Most of the time I fly in Business, but a few times when last minute prices were too high, I went with Premium, which for an 11-hour flight kind of sucks. You were quite on the mark about the food, in particular, which was dreadful. Their promotional materials make it sound like you get the same food as in Business, just with fewer choices-two entrees to pick from instead of four, for example. Quite simply untrue. As a business flyer I KNOW what Business food looks and tastes like and this is NOT it. Like you, I was appalled at the aluminum foil. I suspect what is closer to the truth is, as you pointed out, they slop Economy food on a plate (instead of a paper box) and think that makes it "premium." I am quite bored with Business at this point, and on my next European jaunt next year I booked a First Class seat for $200 less than I've paid for a Business seat, and something like 80% off their top price of $17,500. You got a great deal from London to Tokyo for $300. How one can find those fares would make an interesting video. I am thinking you are probably pretty young and new at this. You will get better over time, I'm sure. Keep your target audience in mind: seasoned travelers, whoo already know how a plane takes off and lands but who are looking for ways to find good prices on premium products and avoid travel nightmares. Hope this helps. It's blunt but honest.

@@Andrewatlanta Thank you very much for your detailed comment! I will try to keep the segments you mentioned shorter and focus more on the product onboard. My next report is going to be Business Class on AA HNL-DFW-MAD, so I'll try to implement your suggestions there. I'd be happy if you could give me some feedback on that one as well, once it's up.
