This is the first video I have seen where the sponsorship promotion is not annoying but actually interesting to watch! I discovered your channel 8 months ago with the Delta A330neo video, and I believe that it is the best aviation video on RU-vid (Best quality)! Hopefully we can see a report such as AMS-MSP or AMS-GVA on KLM!

Thanks Benji, that was exactly what I tried to achieve! Glad I did! And I actually do use it, so it was far easier to explain without having to act and pretend. I’m booked on AMS-ATL next week, does that count?!😇 Not KLM though but Delta..

3:03 I recently read an article that explains why a great deal of airports use carpets. There is some kind of psychology involved. Many passengers who are afraid of flying use to feel more confident and there is a feeling that they are almost at home when they walk in a carpet. Well, at least to some people who live in countries where most of the homes have carpets. But overall, this is the core of the idea: to make the airport more comfortable and welcoming.
@TheLayoverAviation

WooooHooo! Congrats on your first sponsor! Nice! Here's to 10 more soon! The crew was so nice to you, all those extras, amenity kits, I thought the bear and cards were the coolest! It never fails to amaze me how good economy meals are on other large airlines outside of the U.S. Makes some of the domestic Box meals I've gotten lately in so called U.S. FC look like rubbish. Sure looks like Changi airport is an amazing place for sights and food! I'll be there in a few months ;) How are the airport prices as far as food etc.? Thanks again for sharing and doing such an amazing job on your video!
@TheLayoverAviation
@TheLayoverAviation 2 года назад
Thanks Miles! It helps investing it further into our hobby, so quite a milestone. The crew were top. I also think that meals on Delta were quite something (depending on which catering station). One of the best meals I actually had with them in Amsterdam. Prices in Singapore are spectacular, for 5 Bucks you can have a proper meal. I don’t think I paid more then 3-4$ for the food you saw in my video. It’s by far my favorite airport and can’t wait to transit there again. Have a lot of fun during your stay there!

I flew SIN-AMS back in 1989 with a KLM B747, the aircraft was amazing but KLM had such a crazy schedule: SIN-KUL-BKK-DXB-AMS...it took us 21 hours to reach the Netherlands with all these stops inbetween and guess what? Our onward flight from AMS to BUD (also KLM but a 737) was landing in PRG... By the time I got home I was so tired that was sleeping 11 hours and first woke up on the afternoon the day after :-))

It’s refreshing to see an aviation RU-vidr suggesting that there’s too much storage space even in an economy seat back .. over the years I’ve watched plenty others, (especially those who usually fly in Business class ) , complain about the lack of storage space for their multiple cameras and all the other paraphernalia etc , as if everyone else also brings on board endless amounts of stuff … and those same trip reporters often then proceed to try to drink the bar dry - especially on long haul flights.. anyway I like your work .. thank you 🙏 .. Peace ✌🏻

As far as Singapore Airlines goes ..one can only say this ( and I speak from personal experience).. no matter which class one travels in...no matter how long or short the flight is...be it on the ground or in the air...SQ is an airline that other carriers can take lessons from... Itai! Was just thinking about you 2 days ago, I found myself in Tel Aviv and missed 3 flights in a row for the first time in my life. The security lines were the longest I had seen so just kept missing flights despite rebooking them. 2 people even passed out behind me in that line. Do you know if it’s normal? Cause I missed out on flying El Al so I want to try again, but not if those 3 hour lines are normal😱 Nobody sitting next to me is not luck! It’s a long process I actually work for! I always prebook a seat, pay for it and ensure to move as soon as I see someone next to me on the map. I also try to board last, wink an eye to the gate staff and ask to see the seat map to confirm any empty rows for last minute no show passengers. Have a great weekend too, hope you get to try SQ soon!

@@TheLayoverAviation oh buddy! sorry for your experience at tel Aviv airport :( yep, there are crazy lines in the airport due to low staff like all over the world but here in tel Aviv it looks like they(airport management) are all "surprised" there is a crazy demand since the Covid "Slow Down". now they are saying you need to come to the airport 4! hours before the flight, pure maddnes. did you travel across Israel? or only took the flights. hope you filmed something! and next time the experience will be better :)

Hey Itai, I had to go for a lightning trip to prepare for an event ahead for next week. So I went in the morning and came back in the evening. I’ll return this week 2 more times to Tel Aviv if everything goes as expected. The lines were madness. I don’t have 4 hours extra. Neither did I have last time. I wasted 8 hours at the airport. Each time I missed a flight I would have to go back to the beginning. And the fact that I hold multiple passports and travel a lot made me a target, so I was under extra scrunity and checks. Now I’m prepared for the next time. Will fly with 1 passport and pretend I don’t speak English 😝 I only managed to film 1 flight, the inbound one. The rest I just slept throughout. But this week it will go better! See you!

This vid is right on time. I’m planning to do something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, and that’s attend the Singapore Formula 1 race in October, and this year looks like it’s going to happen. I’ve been looking at either Singapore Airlines for the experience, or Oman Air because they have cheaper fares for biz class. I live right across Sh. Zayaed highway from Abu Dhabi Int, but I’d rather take a 90 minute car ride to DXB than use Etihad in most cases now.

The best fares I’ve found by FAR to Singapore are with Gulf Air, did you check there yet? I paid like 900aed for a ticket in Economy and later around 1200aed for Business Class bidding, and I got it. So imagine how cheap. Let me know what you eventually do! Have a lot of fun.

the A350 wing is a handsome piece of engineering. it is very streamlined thanks to the carbon fiber construction? the flap fairings are quite long as a rule, arent they? however even in full flaps config the wing looks very aerodynamically smooth. FYI the architectal firm of DBX is a chicago operation, Murphy Jahn. makes me proud as a chicagoan.

Another great review... Thanks for your high-quality and informative Trip Reports Question... On take-off and once airborne, do the wheels continue spinning whilst being retracted ? Do they continue spinning even after the gear doors are closed and what stops them ?
@get2dachoppa249
@get2dachoppa249 2 года назад
Aircraft engineer here. The main gear wheel brakes are applied automatically during the retraction sequence to stop them from spinning before they go into the gear bay. The nose gear bay has two rub strips that rub against the nose gear tires to stop them from spinning since the nose gear doesn’t have any brakes.

Well really enjoyed this video on Singapore Airlines like you mentioned there should have been another service . So was this a dry flight as I did not see what other drinks were available it would have been nice to have had a beer before the meal. On other airlines after take off they will come round and offer a drink and some peanuts how lonq did you have to wait from the time they gave you water to when you got the meal I really love flying and enjoy all the hospitality that you may get and even chatting to the crew as well. As I live in the UK so when I travel to Asian there are only two Airlines I would use that is Singapore and Malaysia Airlines would never use BA. Well that plane I believe is a Low Cost Airline (Flydubai) it is either parked there from the time of the epidemic or company could have gone Bankrupt . I thought when I saw this first that it may have been a Russian Airline which had been impounded . Looking forward to your next travel report.

Hey Stewart, I thoroughly enjoy a drink or more while I fly, but on this particular day I was recovering from food poisoning so I wasn’t feeling 100%. They offered a tray with juices and water just after take off. The meal service did not commence until 2 hours after departure. There was no beverage service with snacks, but that has disappeared at quite a few airlines.. The flydubai plane is parked where Dubai Sheikh’s B747 for horse transport is usually parked. So it’s at a private terminal. That’s why I was wondering..! Thanks for watching!
