According to the Bengali calendar, Today we celebrate the 163rd Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore. On this auspicious day, this will be my small offerings to the Great Poet.
Happy Rabindra Jayanti!! May his words ignite the flame of creativity and enlightenment in our souls.
Shantiniketan, Bolpur, subdivision of Birbhum district in West Bengal and is situated at approx. 152 km north of Kolkata. It was established by Maharshi Devendranath Tagore, and later expanded by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, whose vision became what is now a university town, with the creation of Visva-Bharati.
Santiniketan is an embodiment of Rabindranath Tagore’s vision and philosophy and was included on the UNESCO World Heritage List by the World Heritage Committee in 2023.
Though summer may not be the best time to visit Shantiniketan, but in my 2 days journey, I tried to explore the place as much as possible and capture my trip in this vlog, in expectation that, this should come in handy if any of you are planning to visit the place.
Additionally, entry to most places was restricted after the COVID period. Tourists must satisfy their expectations outside the gate or from a distance.
