Trip To Quiet Island In MALDIVES (Thoddoo Island)

I had arrived in the Maldives on the island of Male and from the airport I went to Hulumale and stayed there for a few days. Then I came to Guraidhoo and in this video you'll see my journey to the island of Thoddoo in the west part of the all the atolls in the Maldives. You can take speed boats for 25 us dollars to most of the islands. Some cost 35 if it is a bit further out. I might go to Mumbai in India after this trip but I'm not sure as I have not planned almost anything. The video series I have uploaded form the Maldives have had some information on how to travel the Maldives on a budget.

Most shops will accept usd but you may come across local shops that will not accept smaller denominations like 1 or 5 usd.

Hey, william. Other than the last guy you spoke, they are not from Maldives. They are Bangladeshi people. Most of the people from Thoddoo knows how to speak basic English. And mostly people from this island works morning and evening on the farm. Maybe that's why you find all the roads empty. It's quite peaceful and free here. Thank you for featuring Thoddoo island.

I can't help but mention, Most of the people you meet in cafe's and other working places aren't Maldivian's. They are Bangladesh expats and speak little dhivehi. Just didn't want you to confuse them with Maldivians.

The reason why , you will find less people in day time and less recreational activities is because it's 16th day out of 30 of Ramadan, which is the fasting ( dry fasting from early morning prayer around 4:45 am to evening prayer at 6:14 pm ) month of all Muslims around the planet . You should try fasting one day , 1st or 2nd day you may have headache but slowly your body will adapt and will make you more energised. You are in Alifu Alifu atoll which is the northern part of the atoll , the southern part is called Alifu Dhaalu Atoll. Mostly all islands have very beautiful reefs in these 2 atolls . Where less people and less commercial activity means more preserved reefs . Most are untouched underwater gardens . And you are lucky you are in the biggest 🍉 watermelon plots , which have good tasting watermelon

In some weird way, this has to be my favourite video of a traveller. There's something so moving about someone being alone in a big beautiful island. And it's not like a survival show, you have everything, but it's like you just accidentally walked into a different planet altogether and are now wondering where all the people went.

If you are interested in a local island with more tourists, overseas visitors, and activity visit Maafushi. It's south of Male, speed boats go there frequently. But still there's Sharia law, so no liquor, bibles, or bacon (pork)!

Thoddoo is one of the agricultural islands in Maldives. This island is known among the locals for their watermelons.. U should have checked out their water melon fields..they have tons of big red and juicy melons

Regarding the nature of life on Earth, scientists will never be able to understand as long as they are working from a materialist perspective which does not consider intelligent design and the non-physical dimensions. What if the Sun and all the planets in our Solar System were placed there exactly as they need to be to create the perfect conditions for life on Earth? And what if God loves us so much that He/She created Earth specifically for us! Random chance could never explain the beauty and perfection of the natural world.

Hey William, there's a website that explains all about ferry transfers in the Maldives. You've taken speed boats which go back and from Male. There are also local Dhoni ferries that visit different islands in an atoll group. They are less frequent, slower, but cheaper. You can catch one of these to visit Uklhas and Mathiveri both have cheap guesthouses and house reefs.

Most of the people you met are bangladeshis, most of them don't speak english. In maldives it is mandatory to learn english as second language. So most us at least can understand, or fluent in english.

William. You need to talk a little bit with islanders. There is always a group of "sea life" lovers. Get along with them, ask them to show around. There are people who talk english so well but little bit shy as its unusual to see a man from Sweden. Once they get a long, ask them to give a good "island experience". You will be surprised to see the fishing trips, berbaque, local food etc. Every island is different in a way. Only the islands with special guest houses for tourists expect people like you. Other islands are different. Do keep that in mind

Pristine white beach and water but tooooo quiet for me.No mental stimulation in these paradise like places for more than a short period of time. I find it interesting that u hated ur jobs.but not everyone hates working.Actually,I enjoyed working in marketing and advertising in NYC, LA,and London ( a lot of tourism marketing as well as working on campaigns for various charities) during my career and that funded my travels plus the opportunities for diverse cultural,food,and social experiences in the cities I have lived in.I enjoy following your videos,though.
