Grab lossless scaling here: store.steampowered.com/app/993090/Lossless_Scaling/ Also sorry I guess the video didn't capture the FPS counter for lossless but it showed 40/120 on my end. Give it a try. If it doesn't work, refund it! Drop testimonies below
Been playing elden ring forawhile for the upcoming expansion and decided to try this today as the game is capped at 60 and im using a 144hz monitor. Jesus christ its a difference of night and day and the game became so much more enjoyable to play than before
@@daethmer7834 playing with it all day yesterday i havent had any issues really. Works like a charm. For input latency havent felt anything major other than its easier to track of attacks now due to the higher frames
Been trying to use this but for some reason when running the upscale on 1440p Lorerim it cuts off the screen. Like I can't see my HUD anymore and misaligns the Better Third Person Selection.
Not sure if the enb is conflicting or what but I’m using lorerim and whenever I enable loss less the fps counter shows my 40 frames go to 120 frames but the screen goes black and I can’t see the game anymore just the fps counter
I don't know. I've tried several times using it for rdr2 it does not double or triple the frames at all, lowers the frames and makes the game more stuttery and choppy. If anyone has succeeded with red dead redemption 2. Please share.
Unnoticeable while playing Parasite Eve 1/2 and 3rd Birthday. As long as you stick with the gamepad it's super playable, but when i tried Tekken 6 on emulator it felt a bit weird and i was missing some button presses (maybe i couldn't keep stable 120fps i dunno).
Wdym, NASA pc? 6700xt is really cheap, it runs my heavily modded Skyrim with 60-80 fps outdoors, so yeah 120 stable is a massive difference.@@randomthings1293
I'm speechless... I saw your video and I thought, there's no way in hell that works. I'm currently playing Nolvus in 4k and was averaging 40fps. I decided to give this app a shot and omfg. 100+ fps right away. I don't know what to say.. Stared at my screen for a couple of minutes as I couldn't believe it lmaoo
@cleverlikem3218 that's where it's capped at, however I'll have it drop to 35-45 depending on what I'm doing & where I am. With this, it's STAYED at 59/60, never dropped once! & since I run with a RTX 4080 laptop, I noticed a HUGE difference in graphics quality. Prob cause I had thus thing set on Auto 😂
BIGGIE PIN THIS lol. Just wanted to comment and say I use a 1660 super and it DOES indeed double my fps but I had to use the AMD FSR setting so much older cards DO INDEED work!
Does this also work good with variable framerate? For example I got a 4080 super and i5 12600KF. And while most modlists work just fine with 60FPS in 1080/1440p in the wilderness the FPS can drop pretty segnificantly in the cities. With Lorerim I had 29FPS at some point in Solitude 🥲 think that was the worst example Ive experienced. Usually its still above 40 tho even with much trouble going on. If this could fix those eternal Skyrim FPS problems in cities thatd be great. Also is this a problem everybody has? Bcs even with a 4090 I couldnt see it alw being 60+FPS in large cities when you enter. The FPS stabilizes once youre in the middle of it bcs not everything is loaded infront of you. It seems like as no matter how strong the PC is at some point the game just cant keep up. The GPU as well as the CPU are at 50% at best in FullHD and even switching up to QHD barely changes anything. Maybe some drops in the wilderness. Only in 4k you can see the GPU reaching its limits pending between 50 and 60FPS. That makes me believe that even a more powerful GPU wouldnt change toooo much. Maybe a bit. Its a bit like with Oldrim back then. Just not as drastic. The game is still playable :^
Ok, i just bought the thing on Steam and .....IT WORRRRK so WELL!!! i know i shouldn't say that with my 3090 ti but even a heavily modded game like Skyrim can put my 3090ti at 40 fps in some area. This is a big deal for the Skyrim community and for gamer in general. Thank you so much for showcasing this software.
To be fair, it does produce artifacts, especially with transparent things. Thin UI elements gets blurry while in motion. But... those are small prices to pay! This software produces extra frames for you easily, it's almost magic.
Just realized this myself, I'm playing Wildlander as my main list right now and all the UI elements are at the bottom of the screen where most of the blurring happens. I can play the list without it at 72 FPS capped with almost no FPS dips in most places so it's not a big deal but it really makes the Wildlander UI look bad unfortunately. Still glad I bought it though might be useful for other lists or other games later on haha
I'm going to assume it's similar in what fsr and Nvidias frame gen does. It adds fake frames in-between real ones, these are fake as they are of a lower quality and will also introduce input lag. It's why 60fps is recommended as a baseline as the artifacts and input lag get worse the lower your fps, this isnt really a thing for going from 30 to 60, it's more about going from 60 to 120 or hitting 200+ on high refresh monitors.
WHY DO I HAVE THIS SCREEN TEARING??? not tearing like no VSYNC...more like ripping apart. It's like it rips the screen apart when moving. Every model is moving very strangely...What feature is it conflicting with? It's like having a reeeally strange acid trip in 3 fps..
Enable VRSS support and put "enable tearing" on off. You could play with the API i'm using DXGI most of the time and it works great for me in Duckstation and PPSSPP
@@Dregomz02 Well VRR Support is outdated and it doesn't work now. I don't know what VRSS is but it's not an option...It's really like an acid trip on solid 3 fps... I don't know what to do..
Puredarks needs a certain minimum fps to work well, and does not work for everyone. Also it’s only a 2x at best in my experience. Also occasionally shits the bed requiring a restart at times. I’ve yet to try this but looks way more promising.
@@RiceCubeTech So I just tried it out and yeah, it's better than Puredarks. The only downside is the upscaling, which didn't look very good with it, so I just used Puredarks dlss upscale and lossless 3x FG together and holy shit it looks amazing and plays at a locked 144 for me at ultrawide. I' m playing this with a customized nolvus list and there's no issue, it's like butter lol.
@@SilentAssassin01234 Yeah that's the weird thing though. I went into SSE launcher and changed it to borderless windowed and it still did the black screen thing.
it is normal and cant be avoided with this type of framegen. for me it is not to distracdting, but if it bothers you to much i would refund it, because there is nothing you can do to avoid this.
Biggie, I wanted to know about the character ghosting issues. Are you facing them? Have you fixed it? Or can we overlook it since ghosting is the only downside of frame generation? I would like to know if you fixed it or are playing with it.
I have been trying Lossless scaling on plutonium launcher (free call of duty). One of the games i play mw3 i typically get avg 130fps on medium to low settings. When i use Lossless scaling it literally makes everything worse i go from 130 to 50 or 88 fps and sometimes the lossless app will dissapear and my game will be locked at 60fps when i fullscreen it. Need explanation or help please.
I think it's the best solution for low-end PCs, but if u have mid bakery it's better to use payed DLSS or FSR 3, cause lossless scaling has a quite noticible and not comfortable latency.
i get worse frames (altho the numbers say its higher, it feels worse, not as smooth) and it crashes my whole pc if i play around with the settings too much. using AMD RX7600 - even the native amd driver scaling makes my pc crash , i hate this cheap card
Do you cap your frames at driver level, with another program, or Display Tweaks or such? I tried lossless scaling frame gen a while back with iffy results but I wonder if it was just my setup
@@biggie_boss Gotcha thanks, was jw because I usually use the control panel and tend avoid using ENB’s cap but I know it works a bit differently with DLSS framegen (control panel cap caps after framegen rather than before), gonna try lossless scaling again now to see if it is different
Definitely gonna try this. I have been getting 144 frames for the most part, in interiors and outside in less intense areas, looking at the ground/sky etc. But they can also dip quite substantially. I like my game looking good but i really like my frames, while frame gen isnt technically extra fps, if the input delay is low then who cares I suppose. I know it can also potentially cause ghosting/artifacting i think. Hows you experience with it in general? Do higher drawcalls affect it? How is it in the notorious skyrim locations like falkreath?
Skyrim runs on DX11 so you still want to keep draw calls under 12,000 when possible. Anything over 12k will lower base FPS on any PC and the more info lossless has to work with, the better experience. Although I find that capping my fps at 40 and doing the 3x frame gen is ideal for me and I usually get 50+ fps in heavy areas.
I just used it and my mind is completely blown. It's literally free 3 times the fps. And there arent even artifacting unless you stutter. Once again, my mind is blown. And if you play around with the settings, the input delay is non-existent.
@@biggie_boss you don't mandatory need if you enable vertical sync in LS because that way LS will only generate frames up to your selected settings (X2 or X3) OR you monitor refresh rate (the first that is reached). So even if you can reach eg 45 fps flat and your monitor is 60 Hz then you will not get x2 (90 fps) or x3 (135 fps) but only the needed to get to 60 fps (less generated images might be wanted for less artifacts for example) but if you cap to half or third of your monitor refresh rate you might get some artifacts but you will also use far less power from your gpu (good for notebooks). matter of tastes and priority :)
@@starly1974 i mean PureDark has to create it's own Motion Vectors to function its fsr and dlss and DLSS frame gen + Upscaler is still superior in every way
@@ranggafirdaus8932 i just tested it on my 1660 super and got a stable 120 fps on my heavily modded skyrim (Locked the game to 40 and used the x3 option), there is some not so noticeable imput lag but holy fuck, literally free fps for non modern gpu users like us
This sounds really good, but how big of a visual difference is there? I already tried fsr3 for Skyrim, from some dude's patreon, and it worked amazing, byt even on ultra quality the game looked too bleah for me.
@@gyro0232 Heavily modded Skyrim is demanding. We are talking about 2K+ mods with 4K textures and extra clutter w/3D LODs. Also a bunch of stuff to make it more "current gen" such as physics and ray tracing
7 USD in US but 4 USD where I live. The Devs just straight up killed AFMF which is insane. AMD's method of driver-level frame generation would put a strain on the GPU, it is also super inconsistent and adds noticeable input delay. LSFG does a better job at consistently (although janky) generate frames while not affecting input latency in games. Speaking of AMD, since they acquired the baseline for FSR tech from an Indie Dev's app that features dynamic resolution in games in the past, I'm curious whether the same thing will happen to Lossless Scaling.
Framegen stacks with this btw. So what you can do is get the DLSS frame gen by puredark, use that to double FPS, and then enable lossless scaling. You end up with a stable 4x frame rate with SIGNIFICANTLY less screen artifacts. The DLSS does a great job at keeping things looking good for the first pass of framegen. Then lossless scaling has a high enough base framerate(double your actual from DLSS) to scale off of resulting in a SURPRISINGLY clean visuals. So basically as long as you can reach a fourth of your monitors frame rate in game while running 2 upscalers, you will have a very awesome experience. 1440p Quality DLSS with framegen/lossless scaling results in me keeping a steady 36FPS with most mod packs using my 4070(*2*2=144).
im having cpu bottleneck anyone know best settings for cpu intensive games? also my lossless scaling app is crashing sometimes and cant tell if it even works in general
Can anyone help me, I have an RTX 2080 super and i am currently playing nolvus. I have a 4k monitor but i play at around 1440p Without this program i get aroun 30-40 (Maybe even 50-60 fps at times) I tried using this program with the settings in this video, and after some intense alt tabbing it does seem to work once in a blue moon. but the moment i got from map to map, the screen either freezes or goes black while the game runs in the background
Okay so far Its not perfect yet still a bit jittery I am experementing with the scaling types (FSR, NVIDIA etc) i have made some strides by putting the game in 1440p windowed mode and in the program i set the scaling mode to Auto -> Full Screen. As for the options, Enabling Adjust Cursor Speed, Scale Cursor with Vertical Sync on (Max) with Tearing Enabled. but it was upscaled to 4k at a decent frame rate as opposed to 1440p, which wasn't something plausible so far. though i have limited my frame rate to 30 fps so i am not sure and i've enabled "Multi Display" since i have two monitors. I may try to set the game resolution to 1080p and let the program upscale it to see how it goes. If that does fail i might try the Vramr mod in conjunction with this program
For me PureDark DLSS (quality) + Losseless Scaling FG is the best option (RTX 3070 Laptop). Upscaling from LS is worse in image quality (tested all options, got a little less fps than PD + LS) than PureDark, but PureDark FG is not working on my RTX, so Im getting best from both worlds. Ive noticed some blurring on edges of screen, but acceptable. And yes, input lag is noticable, but ok for me. FPS locked on 48 (144Hz screen), resolution changed from 1920 to 2560 and got lik 80 fps in Riverwood (heavy modded, mostly 2k textures + ENB)
rtx 4090: 2000 USD lossless scaling: 7 USD makes sense from an economic standpoint. this tool is incredible. i was able to achieve 60 fps with pathtracing on in Cyberpunk with a 2080 ti. all because of lossless scaling. it's crazy because that's some cards on par or similar to the 3090 struggle greatly with. with that being said capping my frames to 20 and putting the frame gen mode to 3X it produced alot of warbling and artifacts even making my character's head flicker. but i still think how impressive it is to be able to hit 60 fps with pathtracing regardless on a 1st gen RTX card.
So looks like I'm the only one here but my game stutters more and there is a weird bubble effect around my character when he moves... but it says on average I have 10 more FPS (on the right side of the fraction)... I don't see a big improvement at all... I don't know what to do with this... EDIT: OMG got it to work!! Put the scaling to LSG1 and Windowed mode, now I have 90 lololol Merry chistmas everyone!!!!
I have the program, I like it but I wish there was a .5 frame gen just every third frame to increase smoothness while reducing input latency. As someone who uses high refresh rate monitors I've come to notice the difference, but it's more of a feel than anything. While frame gen can increase the smoothness of the video it doesn't make it feel different, it still feels like native fps. Just because you generate extra frames doesn't make the input less you still need to wait for the next native frame to generate before the software can add a new interpolated frame. I don't like playing at 70fps to bump it up to 140fps I don't want to use 45fps to triple it to 140fps that feels horrible. We have all played a game or two at very high frame rate only for the experience to feel bad, you get very high input latency, where the time it takes to register a movement in game takes longer to update the video than low fps. Middle Earth Shadow of War comes to mind, 140fps easy yet it feels horrible, than going threw several forms I find out the game engine has horrible input latency. Something like 17-18ms at 140fps which is horrible generally the input latency should be around 4ms. I've tried to just leave the frame rate uncapped but it feels horrible, just microstuttering in some of the games I play. I would much prefer to just lock my frame rate to something like 90 and gen it to 120fps. That way the input latency is still low, so the response feels good.
That's not how this works and it won't magically make your games better. You want a baseline of 60fps as this isn't real fps, it adds frames in-between the real ones and is recommended to have a baseline of 60 due to input lag and issues that can arise. It's not something that's going to magically allow you to play games at 4k. Even with the upscaling part ( as it's not 4k then )
@@quemsereu2009 yup, it will feel worse technically as it adds input lag. You would need reflex or AMDs anti lag to bring it back down. If lossless has one those then yeah it will feel more like whatever your base frame rate it. So 24 fps would still feel like 24fps, just look like 48 ( but with a ton of artifacts)
Was really excited about it but for some reason as soon as I click scale my pc just crashes, I had my friend try it on her PC and it didn't crash for her but her mouse icon wouldn't move so she had to alt and use task manager to get out, is there something missing? :( I followed your vid to a T too and I have a 4070, thanks for sharing this though!
too bad does not work for me im using gtx 1050m 16gb ddr4 ram and i5 8300h it turns out this lossless scaling needs at least medium level system or gpu to work properly 😒
It's great when emulating older games which have physics tied to the framerate. Been playing Parasite Eve 1 at 60fps, PE2 at 120fps and 3rd Birthday at 90fps. That way you won't introduce any bugs with physics and game feel much more smooth to play as long as you will be using the gamepad. I have never played Okami since i hated 30fps cap now i may finally play it.
Hello friends, I have a GTX 960 2GB and I am using lossless scaling but instead of tripling my fps they are reduced considerably, any idea what I am doing wrong?
great video!! helped me a lot! but i got a little problem. I donwloaded this on top of nolvus, now my game is very bright i and i dont know how to change that. any suggestions?
Could someone please help me ? I am using nolvus on an RTX 3070, whenever I activate the scaling, my game just freezes. sounds and everything is fine but I can't tell why it's doing that.
Didn’t work for me. Maybe it works for some people? But just made my game even more laggy unfortunately.. Blokes right about the steam Refund policy, worth a try even if it doesn’t work👍.
Thank you! Hooked on Nolvus as well - This totally increased my FPS. Now using PureDark's mod and lossless scaling I'm pushing an unbelievable 120 FPS (which is max on my Oled) on the regular - Playing 4K Nolvus V5 ultra on a 4080. Thanks for sharing! "Buttery smooth" Yeah, there's just a teeny bit of lag, but this is Skyrim, it doesn't interfere with gameplay from my POV. Eagerly awaiting V6!
Ummm.. Dude, i dont think it's working for you. Not only did i not notice any visual difference whatsoever, the fact that you used "draw fps" and nothing showed up at the top left corner, all indicate that it is not working
Draw FPS didn't get captured by the screen recorder. But I jumped up to 120 fps and it was noticeably smoother. Nobody is forcing you to buy it. I'm not affiliated with Lossless, it just worked for me and I made a video to let people know about it.
