Because it is a particularly dangerous situation. A PDS Tornado Warning stands for "Particularly Dangerous Situation", and usually happens with a tornado producing over 100 mph winds.
I still haven't gotten used to it, probably because my Acurite 8550 used to go off at full volume for flood warnings in between 12:00AM and 3:00 AM, which I don't even need them on, but I actually might get used to it because I replaced it with a RadioShack 12-259.
@@LunaReviews I literally got it yesterday to replace my Acurite 8550 because it's speaker was dying... close called having an alert today, which means it hasn't gone off for anything yet...
Gage Jackson I thought my 12-262 was broken, so I replaced it with the 12-259, but my 12-262 started working again, so I use the 12-262 and keep the 12-259 for PDS emergencies most of the time.
