Glad to see that you ditched the ladder. When my husband was 64 he was on the back side of our farm on a 12 ft ladder cutting a limb(by himself). He fell off of that ladder with a chain saw in his hand. He broke 8 ribs punctured both lungs. His brother just happened to come in the back entrance and saw him fall, had he not been there my husband would have been dead by the time I got home. He spent 3 weeks in a trauma hospital, 2 different ICU units.. He will never be the same but I still have him. God was not finished with him and I thank Him for sparring his life.
@OutontheRanchwithDrLee-xb4lo
Yeah, at 70, it is time for me to stay off the ladders.... It's just such a habit and a way of life for so many years, that it's hard to not think, "well I'll just cut this one tree, fix that one shingle, etc ...."

My husband and I live in western Pennsylvania and we just discovered a new set of triplets in our back yard about two weeks ago. They come out and graze and chase each other just about every night. It’s been so much fun watching them play everyday. We’ve always seen twins but I think this is our first set of triplets.

Dr. Lee... I literally just sent a comment to you with an update about mom's health, then you popped in with another video. Yay! True story? Mom was on the 10th floor of the hospital, and I was on the 3rd floor of the same hospital. Go figure. There's a hole in the ball of my right foot that goes to the bone. I have sepsis, spent the past week on three IV antibiotics on a Q4, and now get to go to the hospital for daily Vanco in my PICC line - until August 24th. I appreciate you, sweetheart. Thanks for the upload, and always remember... We love you, too. ⚘️🙏♥️🙏⚘️

❤I got to witness the beauty of triplet fawns in North Georgia. Twins were normal by triplets, what a treat! I had to clean my glasses to make sure I was seeing what I was seeing! A few years before that, I had a frequent mama bring her fawns through - she was missing half of her hind leg. That she survived several years was amazing. I never fed them, just let them relax in my yard. The neighbors had a rotten habit of illegal night hunting. Frustrating. Ultimately, the massive invasion of investors drove me out of there, not the r-dnecks.

The heat is big this summer I’m in NW Arizona we’ve hit 122F several times in the last 2 weeks, looks to heading back down to the lower triplet digits. Dr. Lee I’m out on acreage, and our Coyote are down extensively too. Can’t explain it. I’ve seen 3 Javelinas in last 6 months absolutely something I never see in daylight. They don’t like people. Thanks for sharing the triplets, absolutely stunning. ❤❤

I am so sorry about your friend who died, I am glad you have changed the way you do things. I keep trying to get my 76-year-old dad to stop climbing up on the roof to work on it, but as of now I am unsuccessful. My daughter says when she sees him across the street she moves upstairs to work on her laptop up there until he is done. When I see him I go over and stand there and watch him. I know that at 56-years-old I sure as heck wouldn't get up there and work up there in the heat by myself.

Dr. Lee, you take such good care of the deer on your property. I'm glad you aren't climbing ladders to do it anymore, though. I worry about my husband climbing on a ladder without a spotter. We've also had really hot days here with no rain in sight so we can relate to conditions on your ranch. I understand why you would be in your shop rather than out on the ranch to do your video, too. I don't care to go outside in this heat either. We will pray that God will send some rain your way to help those little fawns survive.

Dr. Lee, it's good to hear that you're of the adage that 'with age comes wisdom'. Ladders are for the more elastic younger men. I just turned 50 and I have been having the younger fellas do most of the ladder work and alot of the pain in the rear tasks. And then when they gripe about it I just say "I'm old, get to getting! "😉 BTW I live and work mostly outdoors in Phoenix Arizona and it has been in the 100-teens for over 2 weeks, we just broke a previous record (and just about broke myself and several other co-workers due to dehydration and heat exhaustion and early stages of heat stroke). Fortunately nobody has died.....yet. God Bless!

I love the new feeders! 2 years ago hubby was painting the house and somehow knocked the cable line down. He grabbed the trusty old extension ladder and got the cable reattached and yes you can guess what happened next. He missed a step halfway down and when he came to he could not move his leg. He was scheduled to have hip surgery and back fusion surgery shortly before this accident which completely snapped head of the femur off. I was taking a nap and he drug himself across the big backyard using a wrought iron side table. I jumped up hearing him scream. About the time I was going to call 911 our niece called and her husband who’s an anesthesiologist was just down the street and he got here in what felt like a heartbeat. Did his evaluation and got him loaded in my car and he took off flying to get the ER ready and called a dear friend who we went all through school with and has been voted Best Orthopedic Surgeon in Texas twice to meet us there. Thank goodness for family and friends! When we got there our nephew came out and picked Johnny up and carried him in and hit him right away with pain meds. The poor ER doctor didn’t have any freaking idea what was going on as our nephew just flew in and got everything ready and took over. He is a partner in this hospital. I was crying. The ER doctor finally ask how we knew our nephew. Before I could answer the entire family was there. The ER Dr said we couldn’t all be there when our nephew who’s 6’5” tall shot him a look that backed him off. I heard a nurse tell him that was his family and the surgeon was a very close friend. Within an hour he was in surgery for a full hip. He did great but had to heal before the other hip could be done and then heal again before the back fusion. I have all the ladders bolted to a metal fence post cause I don’t trust him!!! I am sooooo glad you got rid of that tall feeder!!! Sorry for the long story.
@OutontheRanchwithDrLee-xb4lo
WOW! What a crazy story! Reading all these makes me much more likely to "stick to my no-ladder pledge." Thanks for the support!

I’m happy to hear that you’re not climbing anymore. I’m so sorry for your friends. If I could get this through my husbands head. I know, our minds believe that we can still do what we did in our 40’ & 50’s +, but the body says nope. 😊 This past JUNE is the most hottest June I can remember. We’re in Texas also. We need some of Gods perfect water. 🙏🏼 Our pastures are dying also. I’m pretty sure that I like winter better, since we don’t have 4 seasons. I sure hope that the dog doesn’t try to get ahold of that porcupine. 🥺 I’ve seen to many watching Dr. Pol. We have 3 feeders. We had a momma and her fawn come through about 4-5 weeks ago. I’m afraid she took it behind the pond where it’s not really safe and extremely hot back there. We haven’t seen the fawn since. We haven’t seen many fawns yet. I’ve got to get my cameras back up and running. Yes sir, the hogs need to go 🤚🏼🤚🏼. I’ve never seen triplets, they’re so darn cute. Thank you so much for sharing, your kindness and all the beauty around y’all. Try to stay cool. Have a great week. 🇺🇸

You won't regret that MB Ranch King feeder. I've used one for 4 years and it is amazing. Chances are, we shop at the same feed store close to your old clinic.

They were out that day so we had to go to their Spring Branch store.... Awesome, friendly people!

My 52 year old son-in-law fell off a ladder putting a wall up in his barn. Broke his tibia. Don’t blame age, blame those stinking ladders. Thanks for the vids Dr Lee!

23 yrs. ago my😢 40 yr. Old son couldn't understand why his 70 yr. Old father was taking his time getting up on the roof of our tool shed. Loved the visit and watching the wildlife. Things are not quite as bad in central Louisiana, but I'm getting tired of the 100° + weather.

Dr Lee as I may have said a time or 2 Thank You, Thank you for uploading amazing content of those amazing creatures, Thank you for taking care of those amazing creatures, Thank you for loving them as much as you do, Thank you for just being you!! And always remember WE LOVE YOU!! ❤❤ I 🙏 that these babies will get thru the hard weather! Maybe get some kiddy pools and put them out on the farm partially under some shade or sporadic shade trees filled with water. A dip in water might help to cool them off

Hi there, Dr. Lee, Everything looks good on the ranch, but I think we all know that it's all going lop-sided as time goes by. When the time comes, I am sure going to miss these wildlife videos and your stories of life on the ranch. It's sad, isn't it - the encroachment of civilisation into the boonies -- it's not a good thing for us and it's not a good thing for the animals. Well, the very HOT summer is driving me batty. I wish it would go away. We're never happy, are we? But you won't hear me complaining like this in the winter. I much prefer the cold winters to the sweltering summers. I really enjoyed your video and I really hope to see many more of them in the future. Warm hugs and much love to you, my dear friend. Liz. xoxo 🌹🌷🌻
@OutontheRanchwithDrLee-xb4lo
Thanks, Liz... I'll keep making the vids, if for nothing more than keeping this wonderful community in touch with each other...Plus, I've got access to several ranches if this one becomes "part of the city!" Love you!

Excellent video Dr Lee. We're heavily populated with does and their fawns. My daughter and her family came down over the 4th of July. I bought a block of grain about the same size as a mineral or salt block. I want to make sure the grandkids could see the deer. Wow, I think every deer in the area were here on the 3rd of July. About 20 or so, including 3 very elusive bucks in full velvet, and lots of fawns. Now when visitors are coming I'll get those again.
@OutontheRanchwithDrLee-xb4lo
Yep, those blocks are like "crack" to the deer, Barry! The bagged "range cubes" are favorites too!

@@OutontheRanchwithDrLee-xb4lo Dr Lee, I had an appointment at the VA in San Antonio this morning , and I stopped in at Strutties Feed Store in Spring Branch and picked up a bag of range cubes. I'll try them out in the morning! They will probably start getting up on their hind legs and flailing with their front hooves...

*DOC!* If I'm catching you right, the proportion of hogs to coyotes is an inverse one, yes? Lots of hogs means not many coyotes - and vice-versa? We have large packs of coyotes here in the foothills, but I never see hogs - so that might explain it? Stay cool and see you next time - and again, RIP my little girlie-girl Sasha... - Ed on the Rdge
