@@ProFLAMENCO Thank you Mateo. I've grasped the understanding of the technique thanks to your teaching & explanation & attention to the detail. That being to take things slowly & practice. It's always practice. I'm self taught so I've developed my own styles of playing classical guitar along with bad habits! Flamenco & development of the right hand (strumming )is something new to me so it's like learning all over again. A new path for me & looking forward to more of your tutorials. Many thanks. Gavin🎸

amazingly helpful!! thank you so much so this wonderful lesson!! I have a question! would you please let me know about what is the difference between those two patterns please? I mean, between 1) thumb, middle, thumb pattern and 2) thumb, ring, index pattern. it will be really helpful if I understand about the difference between those two! thank you so much again for your wonderful lesson. this is so helpful!!!
@ProFLAMENCO
@ProFLAMENCO 2 года назад
Hello! Thank you for your comment and question! I am really happy that you enjoy my lesson! Actually, the difference in these two patterns is the sound and the tone of these rasgueados. As far as the rhythm is concerned - these two patterns are the same. But if you listen carefully to each pattern - there is the difference in the tone production and sound. Pattern number 1 (thumb, middle, thumb) is very traditional and it is always good to know it. Pattern number 2 (thumb, ring, index) is more "modern". What I mean is that many modern flamenco guitarist use this pattern more often and with a bigger willingness. If you ask me what I prefer personally, then I can tell you, that with pattern number 2, I feel a little bit more control and I am more secure with this pattern in many different musical situations. I use also sometimes Pattern number 1... To sum up, it all depends on the musical situation, style, speed, or number of these repeated rasgueados. You can treat individually, experiment and decide which pattern works best for you! I hope I could help! Best regards! Mateo

Hi! Great tutorial, is Rasgueado Abanico and Tresillos the same technique? I've been playing the second way you showed this technique for some time. Maybe I was mistaken with calling it Tresillos all the time :D
@ProFLAMENCO
@ProFLAMENCO 3 года назад
Hi! Thanks for your comment and question! Yes, actually Rasgueado Abanico, Tresillo Rasgueado or Triplet Rasgueado are all the same techniques. Flamenco guitarists tend to name them in many different ways. Abanico for example means literally “fan” (something that is used to move the air around) because the right hand is making very fast movements imitating a fan. You can play this technique with many different fingerings. In this lesson I show 2 of them. They differ mainly in the sound they produce. I hope I could resolve your doubts! Greetings!

How long should I practice this everyday?
@ProFLAMENCO
@ProFLAMENCO 2 года назад
Hi! Thanks for the question! If you really want to practice this Everyday - then 10 minutes! (15 minutes maximum). Being regular is the key to succeed in a fast tempo! Greetings!

@@jlbopa I am so happy to hear that! Thank you! To learn and catch the movement of the fingers is generally easy. But the key to success is the methodology and proper practice and repetition. I always do my best to show during the lessons also how to practice. Thank you once again! Greetings!

Hi, thank you for this great tutorial. Would you mind answering a question on the first pattern? I'd like to practice both patterns, but it feels really uncomfortable for the last thumb downstroke even with a short thumb nail. I think my problem is the angle of the attack of the thumb to strings, too large. What it should be ideally? Something around 10 degrees? Thanks
@ProFLAMENCO
@ProFLAMENCO 2 года назад
Hi Vlad! Thank you for your question! Actually, it is not so easy to explain theoretically but I will do my best to try.. First of all, make sure that the movement in the last thumb downstroke comes from your wrist. So you make the stroke with your thumb but the movement is achieved by the rotation of the wrist. In my opinion the length of the thumb doesn’t play a big role here. Rather the shape and the care of the nail is more important (lack of splinters, irregularities etc.). As far as the angle of the attack is concerned, it may vary because every one of us has different anatomy of the hands and the body.. My angle personally is about 30-35 degrees. I assume that 10 degrees may be really to low. The technique on flamenco guitar is not so obvious and sometimes without a supervision from another guitarist and proper movement, it is impossible to achieve the proper sound unfortunately. I hope I could help with this answer! If you would like to work on some flamenco guitar technique more with details and proper guidance, we can always meet online for individual lesson. In such case, just send me an email on: info@proflamenco.com Thank you for watching and presence on my channel! And good luck! I hope I could help a little bit. Greetings! Take care!

@@ProFLAMENCO Thanks for the explanation, I actually understood it, one flamencista showed me this "propeller" movement some few years ago and I didn't get it at that time 'cause I don't speak Spanish. I will defiantly consider your lessons proposal when I finish my current half-year commitment for the classical guitar.If it is not too rude to ask, I get it that you are polish, what city do you live in? I am asking because I live in Prague, CZ.

Hi there, Thanks for sharing this. I cannot gain speed ☹️. I can play at low tempo but once I try to gain speed gradually, I can't play correctly. How can I improve that? Thanks in advance.
@ProFLAMENCO
@ProFLAMENCO 2 года назад
Hi! Thanks for your comment and question! Let me think.. so did you analyze my whole lesson together with practice methods? These practice lessons that I present here in the lesson are really really helpful. First of all you have to play each stroke really really slow but also very powerful! Every stroke every one second or even every two seconds! Later on try the second method that I presented here. Play few times really really slow and later double the tempo! After that try to increase the speed by 5 bpm each time. But please remember. This doesn’t last for one day or two but it can take up to 3-4 weeks to gain a real speed! I hope I could help! I tried to give my best to respond as clear as I could. I invite you also to take individual lesson with me to have a supervision on what you are doing. In case you would like to, just leave me an email on: info@proflamenco.com Greetings!
