The reason I went for Triss alot in the past was because, yes, she manipulated him in regards to his memory, but Yen rarely seemed to respect Geralt alot of the times. Treated him like a child, didn't care for his opinion. It was either her way or no way at all. The relationship felt like he was getting walked all over.
Pros of Zoltan being the best: -Booze. You know he can get you barrels of the stuff quickly, no questions asked -He's always up for a fight, if someone gives you trouble, they'll see the business end of his axe -He's loyal to a fault. You're in touble? Captured and locked up by the witch hunters or the flipping Wild Hunt is after you? No probs, he's going to help the best he can -You lost your memory and don't remember him? He's still your old buddy Zoltan, and will treat you exactly the same. Ride or die!
About Shani, I love her. She's the only female character who isn't trying to manipulate Geralt with beauty and magic. And she is also very normal and away from politics. She is caring, and kind. And well, beautiful and cute af. I wish there was an ending, where she would come to Corvo Bianco somehow.
Just played her quest line again and oh how I wish Geralt would end up with her. Geralt could do his Witcher thing and she can patch him up when he returns from work. Team Shani all the way. *I did take a picture of Tamira or whatever the girls name is in the red pants in the beginning. Photo shop is crazy good in this game.*
A terrible character or a terrible person? I don't think there's any doubt he's a good character, as a person it's arguable. But Triss really is horrible. Most book readers do hate her for good reason.

Makes me appreciate Keira. At least she's honest and tells us that she only romanced us because of a lack of decent options. And she only gets with Lambert after that
False, in the books Yennefer is tortured for weeks by Vilgefortz, and yet she doesn’t exposes anything about Ciri or Geralt, and in the end she sacrificed herself to heal Geralt to the point she dies. While Triss, when Yennefer asks her help to tell the truth (that she isn’t a traitor from Nilfgaard) to Ciri and Geralt, she simply refuses and don’t give a shit to them.
When my husband played tw3 and choose to have NO woman at all, I laughed and ask if he thinks I would be jealous. But he just said, both, Triss and Yen are just toxic b*itches and a man like Geralt deserves a peaceful life 🤣
True, in my case I tried them both because of some misinterpration mistakes, but in the end I am glad he got rejected by Triss and Yen so Geralt could have some rest a Corvo Bianco.
Truth bomb: All women are flawed and do desperate things for love because that is how human beings are. But as far as qualities go, Triss is miles ahead of Yen, who is SELFISH, cruel, unethical, and unpleasant to be around. She does horrible things, not only when she needs to (in which case she uses such reasons to justify her evil deeds), but oftentimes just so she can expedite some goal.
I always thought it weird that all these mages couldn't open a portal and leave Novigrad... It would be a thing if they had already been captured and in a prison or something, but no, they're just hiding and can't portal away because reasons *facepalm*
Where would they portal to? There's every possibity they could portal into a situation worse than they are currently in, plus portalling into the middle of nowhere isn't exactly going to be an improvement. Then there is the fact that something as big as a portal can probably be tracked with magic sensitive equipment so their location would be revealed, and as Geralt knows, portals do not stay stable very well, so someone would have to remain behind to keep it open... Also it is likely that making a portal requires more magic than most magic users can do alone, sure we've seen certain ones do it, but they are generally portrayed as the most powerful of their kind. We see magic users constantly travelling in a non-magical way, if portals were so easy why would ANY magic user ever travel in a mundane way? (I've not read the books so maybe the required power etc is explained there, I wouldn't know)
Triss couldn’t teleport any of them out of Novigrad because the city has powerful anti-teleportation fields and each entrance has a sensor that detects magic so you can’t just walk out. Most large cities, like Gors Velen, have them. It’s in the books
I think the whole mage scenario is that they live for so long, that even the shyest of mage becomes promiscuous after some point in time. That also attributes to their vindictive and shrewd nature. I think that is why Shani was a fresh breath of air. In the books, Geralt met her when she was still studying in Oxenfurt. She was young and not bored of living. So she never developed a toxic behaviour, like we have witnessed in many mages in books and games.
Bingo. The sorceresses are ugly both inside and out. Being near-immortal would suck, as over a long enough time-frame everyone would go insane, or at least turn to perversion to satisfy insatiable appetites. Witcher 1 Shani was a bitch, but in Witcher 3 they really turned her into a pleasant and desirable companion full of youthful vigor.
They are 2 reason I always go for Yen : 1- Although very manipulative at first, she gets better over time and learns to loosen the leash. 2- The fucking unicorn
@@Eugine1888 actually, "not as much as she thought she would need to ". Because witchers are magic resistent, so .. magic kinda does not work on them. But THAT witcher was in search of a quick one to forget about some bitch who broke his heart.

In the first printed book which is the last wish yennifer puts a spell on geralt when they first meet he goes through a rampage in the city attacking everybody who ever insulted her. Even the witches during the conclave talk about enchanting him, like they said they don't need it to last long to get what they want.
@@Kibatsume1 well.. it is exactly true. Yes. Witchers are NOT IMMUNE to magic, just magic RESISTENT. As it is kind of hard to charm them, and very hard to keep that spell over them But you missed the point - Triss expected to be hard , and it wasnt. It should have been hard , as Triss is young and not that good of a sorceress, and witchers are hard to charm, but IT WASN"T. And the next phrase explains WHY it wasn"t hard - Geralt wanted to forget about Yen, so HE WANTED to bed Triss.... It was not Triss's magic, it was what Geralt wanted ...
@@speedy7040 Actually, there is plenty information in the books that go against this afirmation that he "wanted" to go to bed with Triss. She used potions, her sassiness and took provide to the fact that he was hurt because of the violent separation that he got with Yen. Almost as if he got drunk, hurt and she got him to her place and sitted on his lap... How do you call that? It is pretty clear in the books that Geralt doesn't even like to think about that. Let's not forget that Geralt and Yen were apart on the third book, so if all he wanted was some sex, he could have Triss, especially because she was desperate to. But he didn't. It's clear that he always saw her as a friend, a little sister almost, and that is probably the main reason why he never guilts her completely. She even confirms that by saying that she envys Yen because of the way that he looks to her and desires her... something that Triss could only have with the help of potions, or CD Projekt Red by turning her into a "perfect character".
The problems is that there is no other romance options other than yennefer or triss. If CDPR did something like what Mass Effect did in their romance options. i would absolutely go for shani or other romance options for geralt.
Man good april fools mate, interestingly enough you made good points as to why she genuinely is terrible at times though. You forgot that unlike Yen, Triss was supporting the Lodge and their despicable shemes surrounding ciri, Yen stayed loyal to her & Geralt, I'll give her that....
you need to read the ending again ...Yen is selling Ciri to the Lodge , while Triss is standing up for her in the Lodge. And loyal to Geralt ?! ... what do you think "loyal" means !? ... ...sleeping with Istrid , while lieing about it ? ...Not letting you see your daughter before sending her to Aretuza ? ...not involing you in her search for YOUR daughter , who is chased by a maniac because Yen wanted to show her off at Thanned ? ...giving up information about you and your party ? ...not telling you about the Lodge and their plans and just handle Ciri to them ?
you are literally in every comment attacking yennefer. stop this. you know yennefer and geralt were never in a relationship, just like she wasn't faithful to him (sleeping with istredd) he wasn't faithful to her (when that time he slept with shanni) come on, at the end of it all, it will always be geralt, yennefer and ciri.
@@FELIX081270 sorry, Yen and Gerald were TOGHETHER when she sleeps with Istrid. READ THE BOOKS. Gerald sleeps with others ONLY when Yen blows him off. Ciri has her own life. Just because you want a fairy tale , does not make it true. Go to the Land of a Thousand Fables to see what really happens with fairytales ...
I think this might actually create an excellent character arch for her when you reject her in the third game. Notice how often the camera focused on her being sad after being rejected by Geralt? Could be an unintentional way of her realizing she doesn't deserve him when she remembers she pretty much manipulated him
I personally love and adore Triss. She is golden hearted, she is selfless and would have died for you to just have an idea of where Ciri went. She would die for the other mages. I love her
Though it was a joke you actually pointed out something pretty true : Triss in the books was written as an actual nymphomaniac, not as in "I'm a strong woman and do what i like and explore sex because i want to" but as in the real psychiatric disorder, and it's so on point that i wonder if the author actually knew/know someone in his personal entourage with that issue Loved the April fool's man !
@@sumavargas3147 it's not how nymphomania (nor satyriasis for the male version of it [which work the same way btw] people usually don't know it exists or the word for it so might as well put it here for people interested in the subject, or just like words with an actual logics / though put in it [since now that you know that if you didn't before you can see how it came from nymph and satyre from the ancient Greek mythology]) works no, though it can result in people you think would never have a shot with her getting an actual shot basically yes (And yeah i know i have a tendencies to talk a lot/too much for explaining little things)

Today I discovered something interesting while playing the mission involving killing the Crones. Before I got the key I went to the gate and near it there was a hole placed above the cave where you fight the Crones. I could jump in there (with "No fall damage" mod) with Geralt and They were there behaving like normal NPCs and "cooking". @empty maybe, but as I played it for the first time (Witcher 3) after choosing Triss, she had little to no impact in the story or characters and wished I could go back and romance Yennefer instead. It really is a story about the family of Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri.
@@sahilsahoo6478 Nah, she is a 'pick me" girl...she is obcessed with Geralt and jumps into his arms whenever she wishes to...Yennefer is a true one because she is honest, independent (has a personality to beggin with and a part from being pretty) and is as rough as he is.
@@lbentosoares4 I just never liked Yen because she seemed like an insufferable bitch, or at least that's the personality they gave her for the games. That character didn't seem to make sense with Yen's character, not how she was portrayed anyway.
I'm a sucker for redheads, and Triss had two whole games to get me hooked, Yen wasn't even in the first two games. I just barely started reading The Last Wish, it'll take me a while to read them all She didn't kill Menge, he attacked Geralt after the Witcher asked The Witch Hunter about the treasure and Dandelion lol 😝
Yeah, I've not read the books but the whole asking the genie to basically force Yennifer to be his soulmate is really rather icky on Geralt's side, and makes any feelings they then develop suspect to me. I think when Geralt loses his memory and tells Triss that he has no memory of her but he knows that she means a very great deal to him in the first game is an indication of his real feelings towards her and what he feels for Yennifer is a direct result of the wish not something that is natural. Anyway that is how I justify to myself that MY Geralt is really in love with Triss and not Yennifer, because in the first game I had a hard time picking between the hot redheads and chose Triss over Shani...

I am a triss-geralt fan, absolutely. And i know WHY: my first experience with the Witcher is The Witcher 2, and my 'love of' triss and geralt as an item stems from that game. And it just carried over. I have never done Geralt romance with anyone else -- though I AM guilty of the first time i played the same pairing geralt up with both Triss and Yen. And as you all know, doing so doesnt end well at all! Damnit! And I must say that Triss in the game, to me at least, is MUCH different character than in books and Netflix show. I am NOT a fan of Triss like that all -- and I am still not a Yen fan regardless... Just wanted the old man to find a woman to settle down with at winery, you know... a bit of cheese, a bit of wine, maybe some nicely roasted wild boar, Gwent, and enjoying the marvellous sunset.
Yes I believe W2 influenced a lot of fans. It was also why I realised Zoltan is Geralt's true bro: he opens doors for you with the dwarves and fights with you through thick and thin in W2. (Also a great friend in the books.)
@@DagOnFire07 Exactly. Also, the whole quest to rescue triss... the bad-ass entrance into the Nilfgardian Camp at Loc Muine, the whole thing with Shila, etc. It just gets to you -- it sure did me back then. And still does. Roses of Remembrance!
I don' tthink book triss is so different from games triss . Maybe in W1, where the developers were tryng to imitate Yen a little ... but 2 and even more in 3 , Triss is exactly how I'ved imagined her reading the books. Only, in the books, Triss is YOUNG. Very young, very silent , just gathering information, observing , choosing mentors ..... very carrefull what she says , what she does ...not always sure of herself, not always in the right ...not very powerfull , sometimes really scared ... But the end of the books is very telling about her - she GROWS UP , she matures . She knows who she is , and what she wants, and how to play her cards now, she is going to be SOMEONE on the world stage. yen and geralt die, Ciri dissapears.... Triss is the only one left. The only HOPE. So the games picks up from there ... and in the end Triss is the real leader of her ppl .
Lets be honest. We all have to accept growth as a person. Which both Yen and triss did. Everyone have a bad past. Yen and triss included, good and bad in a relationship. only shani was pure angel. The mage trapped underground? As far as i know they can only bring 1 or 2 more person max through the portal. And not just triss, everyone couldt open a portal. Yen only cares solely for herself and eventually she came to care about those around her, geralt ciri and their families Yall should remember how bad she treated geralt and how many times she fooled him. Triss was different from Yen. She cared about the overall safety of her kind and put herself in danger to ensured they all escaped safely. Thats a very good and selfless deed. She did let her emotion and feelings get better of her and use advantage of gerald memory loss to get intimate with him. She didnt help geralt when hes about to hang because shes with lodge of sorceresses in some way so whatever she do will affect the whole of her kind. So sum it up. Yen will die for geralt and ciri but doesmt care about random/anyone else or how bsd the world turns into. She doesmt care as much of how and what other mages of her kind faces. Triss will die for ciri and geralt if it only involves her own life but of overall picture comes like the safety lets say all the other mages safety vs saving geralt. She will weight it. Triss involved herself with court again because escaping is only half the work. Shes needs to ensured thr court up north see values of having mage as advisor around them and they could be trusted again.
I know it's a joke, but honestly.... everything you said is true and exactly why I personally hate her. Forgot to mention her severe lack of loyalty to her 'lil sis' in that she actually was in on the Lodge's vile plans towards Ciri (trying to forcibly marry her off for political power, etc). She never tried defending or protecting Ciri then, only Yen did, who suffered the consequences and also had no support from Triss. What a loyal friend. >.> I get why people like her more from a game standpoint. But with book knowledge on top of the game, I just can't. 😅

"defending" ?......LOLOLOL... Yen uses Ciri as a pawn in the mage's war at Thanned . Without Yen, Vilgefots would not be after Ciri . 3" no supoport from Triss ' ... are you joking ? But still, Triss spoke FOR Ciri in the Lodge , and vouched for her return . Ciri did not returned ...you think Triss didn't know this can happen ? She still vouched for Ciri. And in the end, Yen gives up .It is Triss who SUPPORTS her and Ciri , keeps going , and saves the day with her merigold spell. I was stone cold throughout the whole video until the mention of Tomira, which quickly got a genuine laugh out of me. A fine one. Oh, and I guess the joke was okay too.
I was about to like it before realizing it's April's fool. But as a book reader, I just can't think of another romance choice other than Yennefer. It simply doesn't make sense lore wise. I know she cheated on him, but after the events of Time of Contempt, I just can't think of another choice other than her. I mean, after all they've been through, it just doesn't make sense to change Geralt's love interest. She was literally willing to kill herself to be with him
Shani. Literally the only non-toxic relationship Geralt has at any point in any Witcher-media. Yennefer is toxic as all hell and possibly worse than Triss. Plus, she's arrogant beyond reason.
The Triss casting is so tragic.. don't dislike the actress, but she's not nearly as attractive as Triss and how in the HELL do you not cast a red-head for that role... Sheer stupidity.
For next year you need to do a character model swap with Lambert and Yen/Triss and do the romance scenes and claim you can romance him instead then try and prove he is the best choice.
Yeah, I fully agree with your video. Every new playthrough I plan to romance Triss, just to see the new cut scenes and dialogue options etc., but every time I still end up choosing Yennefer.
The worst part about Witcher 3 Triss is that she has no character flaws, which can be argued to be bad writing. Book Triss had enough flaws for side character and she overcomes them by the end, Witcher 1 kind of replayed the same flaws, Witcher 2 replayed the same flaws again so I guess they decided they cannot give her same flaws again after all she went through, but seemingly she got no character flaws instead.
Triss is actually not as pure as she is in the 3rd game. Same goes for Yen. So… Team Shani!? You know what? Team Path. That’s the way. Seriously though thinking about the whole lore, there are reasons to dislike every single character. And i love that. It’s not “Good vs. Evil” Everybody has their morally questionable moments.
God the show took such a massive, steaming dump on Witcher characters. And I say that with love as I enjoyed watching both seasons... despite... everything. What a goddamn mess. I say that because you made me choke on my water at least twice referencing it
@@woodysimoh well Geralt is as close to game Geralt as the show can be so that's a plus. Ciri though, the actress who plays her is doing a good job but they did the character dirty with the whole using her blood to make her a witcher script... I like Cahir more than her, despite the armor and the fact that he is totally different from the books I think he makes a somewhat convincing villain in the first season. Could care less for the "epic escape" in season 2 but the sewer scenes were actually good imo.
For the game's Triss, I feel the same vibe between her and Mary (Arthur's ex) who constantly playing the guy like a fiddle by acting all sad & everything so the guy feels sorry for her & decides to help her out.
Triss may have done a lot of shit but compared to yennefer she is an angel besides the theory that lambert slept with triss is completely baseless and has been disproven numerous times
Triss is one of my favorites characters and I think she is so awful and mean because she is willing to do anything for love and affection no matter what and she is selfish and act blind to her actions I like her because she shows how far a person will go for love and her funko pop is awesome /hairstyles and triss in the books is really annoying in some chapters ! But Happy April fools day!
While I also dont like Yenn, I heavily agree with this. Triss is manipulative, deceitful, and conniving. She is also a coward. When she is prepared to lie about Yennefer so that the lodge can have control of Ciri in the book, I was sooooo pissed
A coward. Man, that reminded me of how my opinion of her was on a constant downward spiral. Like, when Yen pleaded the lodge to save Geralt (even with a bargaining chip) but to no avail, Triss stood there like a stump and could only say "Forgive me, Yen." I felt as betrayed as Yen probably did with her replying "Oh no, Triss. Never." Right then and there my opinion of Triss went from "oh she has a heart, just misguided" to "okay I don't think I'd ever trust her." Yen is no saint. But what she went through and what she was willing to do for Ciri... I can't help but love her for it.
I've tried to convince myself to romance Triss every single time I've replayed the game, and every single time I end up with Yennifer. Just can't help myself I guess
@xLetalis the reason why Triss didn't mention anything about his past in the TW1 is because developers did this on purpose. They wanted to make their "alternative story" and didn't want to bring the central characters to not anger the fans about ruining the canon. The first game wasn't intended as the direct continuation of the books initially, so they avoided mentioning of Geralt's past as much as possible. Plus, it gives the player the freedom to build their own Geralt. Even Ciri's reference is easily missable and told as just a folk story without mentioning any names. Only in the TW2 devs decided to make it direct sequels of the books and closed gaps in Geralt's amnesia.
Waiting whole april 1st for your vid, just to realise that even in 2022 there are characters worse than roach… We want the „Roach is the worst character“ vid 🤣

These videos are always a great bit of laughter but someone's always there in the comments(and they're already here in this comment section too but I'm not gonna point fingers or name names) who actually agrees with what is clearly satire and ruins the fun
My girlfriend got me into the Witcher, I've played Witcher 3 and watched the tv show. And the entire time I played she went on about how bad Triss was. Basing my opinion solely on the game, I enjoyed the connection with triss more than I did Yen, although that might come down to my hatred of skellige damn sirens always ruining my fun. I think Yen is a bit of a twat and doesn't treat geralt well, however Triss seems to be more "in love" with him.
Triss seems to be more infatuated and obsessed with Geralt taking the books into account. I felt the exact same way about Triss seeming as the better option when I had only played Witcher 3 but geez after reading the books I completely changed my perspective on her character can't stand her now
Lets be honest. We all have to accept growth as a person. Which both Yen and triss did. Everyone have a bad past. Yen and triss included, good and bad in a relationship. only shani was pure angel. I just could never romance her. Hypnotized Geralt into getting with her, used his memory loss to her advantage to get with him in the games. And even though multiple people were responsible for this, I never forgave anyone for not telling him about Ciri. The others who didn’t tell him might’ve done it for his own good, and who knows, maybe Triss did, too. But in the end, I can’t help but wonder if she did it so he could gain his memory on her own or so she could have him all to herself. Probably the former, considering she adores Ciri. But still. Triss always struck me the wrong way. She’s just so manipulative.
Jokes aside, considering the main two romances of the game are Triss and Yen, i'd say Triss is the better choice by far. Personally, i think in TW3, they wanted to do a "clean slate" sort of thing. They presented both sorceresses broadly, their characters as women, and you could tell how each one is, even without having the baggage of knowledge from the books or previous games. Triss is childish, playful, feminine, respectful and seductive. Yennefer is bossy, pushy, jealous, possessive, disrespectful and always quarrelsome, even in pleasant moments, she still makes it feel tense. Judging by that alone, i would say the obvious pick is Triss. Especially after you take Geralt's character into account, who's a strong man, with a strong character, i'd say Yennefer is the least appropriate match for him. I always though those dialogue scenes in TW3 with Yennefer, where she's constantly confrontational, disrespectful, dogs him around and for whatever reason, Geralt takes all that shit. Never really got it and it feels out of place. He never takes shit from anyone else, almost ever. Keira Metz gets killed for stepping out of line (in my playthrough at least XD ) , but somehow, he takes all that from Yennefer?? why? why would he? She doesnt display affection and when she does it's constraint and cringy. On the other hand Triss is always cheerful, playful, seductive and more submissive (in a seductive womanly way, it's not bad to be submissive), which fits better with Geralt's strong manly character. Plus, he always seems more relaxed around Tris and their dialogues get really romantic as you get closer.
“More submissive which fits with Geralt’s manly character” “Keira Metz gets killed for stepping out of line” “Yennefer is disrespectful” I cannot emphasize strongly enough how terrified I would be to leave my drink alone in your presence at the club. I can just smell the threatening and misogynistic vibes through the pixels. Please reevaluate the way you perceive women and then get back to us with a new and improved take, thanks.
@@sarahlandrum9730 dont worry sweetheart, i wouldn't even look your way in a club, you give yourself too much credit. This whole "drugging people" is a mindset that belongs to you alone and you're projecting. But since we're on the subject, i've a feeling you're one of those "independent" women that drink until they can't walk straight, piss and shit themselves on the street and then call rape when guys refuse their vomit-mouth drunken advances. My perception of women doesn't have to please you, it has to depict reality. Back on the subject, Keira wants to kill Geralt and potentially create a bio-weapon and you think...it's out of line to kill her - i think those drugs you project on other people wasted your common sense. The fact that you think Yen's continuous aggressive, disrespectful and quite frankly, abusive behaviour towards Geralt is just fine according to you, makes me feel sorry for your boyfriend. You should re-evaluate yourself. Drugs, alcohol and far-left feminism have crippled your mind.
Great video! On a real note though, on my first playthrough I was immediately drawn to Triss over Yen. Going and reading the books since has made me think way less of the Triss we get in the games. The way the books wrap up, and the way the Witcher 1 opens up makes Triss's actions seem pretty reprehensible. Taking advantage of a dude with amnesia so you can ride the bone train as many times as possible before he regains his memory and remembers that you were never his go-to... yikes
Not all the people have read the books, watched the Netflix abomination, played other Witcher games except the third or care about those. In the Witcher 3, she is sweet, and Yennifer is the absolute satan.
Man if someone's virtue really played a part in developing feelings for them, would be a different world lol But honestly I don't get people who picked Triss cause they played witcher 2, the thing that struck me the most when I played TW2 was that Geralt's first decision after regaining his memory at the end of the game was to look for Yennefer. So I went with her when Wild Hunt came out and, what do you know, their chemistry is a hundred times better. Yeah Triss was cute and all but they were just a fling, kept around as an option only for the devoted fans of the romance. Yen is the soulmate
