@eXcommunicate1979 Agreed.... except for "Popcorn in Bed". She left interesting parts of the movie in, including the ending. I recommend her channel, she's so sweet, innocent, and very empathic. Makes for an entertaining reaction to watch, especially scary and/or violent movies. Another channels is "Badd Medicine"

So some insight to Tristan cutting the brothers heart. Some native american tribes believe that when a warrior dies, cutting out his heart will release his warrior spirit. Being that Tristan was taught the native way by One Stab, this is what he knows.

The mother's affluent family was from Boston, and Samuel lived with her while attending Harvard. Susanna's family had all died, leaving her an orphan, and Sam's mother played a part in arranging for them to get together. And given the time period, she would definitely have felt like she had no options when Samuel died. She turned out to be the opposite of their mother, because when she was brought to Montana, she took to ranch life immediately.. She was naturally an ideal match for Tristsn, but he had his ptsd / guilt to deal with, and abandoned her at his father's house.

You can see how broken she was when Colonial Ludlow turned on her, saying _"..and to hell with you too"_ in the midst of him arguing with Alfred, right after she had gotten Tristan's letter.

Great reaction. As always, Hannah understands the subtleties of the film while Ash goes on about sex 😂. But that’s what makes it so entertaining. I love it. Glad you guys did this one as it was one of my favorite films.

Gotta admit Ash is right about the base nature of it all. Just one woman and everyone chasing her causing a fight among brothers. Lost her on the first day too when one failed to steal her away and the other succeeded without even trying.

A classic. Jim Harrison was a great writer and the story is based on the journals of his wife’s great-grandfather. He was quoted as saying that he wrote the book all at once in only 10 days after thinking about it for 5 years. Would be great to see a review of Last of the Mohicans!

I still remember watching this movie in the movie theater in 1994 with my late wife...Many memories attached to this movie for me...wish I could rewind that time and get it back.

Many of the Native tribes believed in funerary rituals involving the hearts of their loved ones. In this movie, the intent was to free Samuel's spirit, so he could move on in the afterlife. The same is true of several ancient European cultures, including Scandinavian and Germanic peoples. Native hunters also did the same thing with the hearts of animals they killed hunting. They saw it as a way to show respect for the animal's life and to thank it for its sacrifice so that the people could live.

This is in my top 5. Saw it when i was like 12. Never left me. Actually taught me things. Im glad you guys appreciated it, cheers 🍸. People have, im sure, disregarded this film for so long because of the poster, i swear, and the fact that it looked like.. well he described it.. like a chick flick starring brad. But Brad Pitt chose good screenplays since day one.

I think that like Ash, Susannah also blamed herself for this family’s destruction. She desired Tristan, and was punished with Samuel’s death. Then she betrayed Samuel with Tristan, and also didn’t wait for Tristan, married the other brother and is now punished with infertility. Then after she is jealous of Isabelle and their family, Isabelle gets killed. And, because of her, Tristan’s and the other brother’s relationship was irreparably damaged. I think she cut her hair out of shame, cutting this symbol of sex and beauty. She just wanted a family, but she feels like she imploded theirs. Such a tragic character.

I first saw this movie when I was 14. I cried damn near all the way through the movie. I then bought the beautiful soundtrack and cried even more. I'm still not sure how was I able to see this movie at that age. There was so much to comprehend for such a young person.

Those pointy german helmets are called Pickelhaube, after the war the US got a shit load of them & gave them away to anyone who bought war bonds. Today they are worth about $2500 to collectors. Another awesome f'ing reaction & the insight, comments were spot on, love this movie.

Bart the Bear was a male Kodiak bear born in Baltimore MD in 1977 & died in 2000 age 23 in Park City UT. Well known in Hollywood movies. Bart stood 9'7" and weighted over 1700lbs

When I was a teenager there was a movie theater in town that would play movies for a dollar after they had had the run-in regular movie theater and as long as I was patient I can watch almost any movie that came out at this theater for a dollar. I was kind of an early fan of Brad Pitt this movie came out I knew it was considered a chick flick but I decided to go see it anyways at the dollar theater. I'm glad I went alone because I cried like a baby. I have friends and cousins that I tried to convince to watch this movie and they refused because they thought it was a stupid chick flick but once I got them to watch it every single person male or female absolutely loved it. This is a movie for both sides

Legends of the Fall was primarily filmed on location in Alberta and British Columbia, Canada. Principal photography began in mid-July 1993. The World War I battlefield scenes took two weeks to film and were shot near Morley, Alberta, with hundreds of locals and a few Canadian Forces soldiers recruited as extras.

What if while the dad went to war he had an affair with a native woman that resulted in Tristan and his dad decided to keep him there with him and that's why his wife left. And that's why Tristan is all wild and stuff. And maybe his dad hates war cause that's how the native woman died. And that's why he was friends with the natives.

Tristan cut Samuel’s heart out and sent it home because back then you couldn’t send the whole body home because there were just too many bodies. And you didn’t watch the very end!!!! You cut it off too soon. FYI Tristan asks his brother to watch his children because he has to leave..

I agree that she should have left after Samuel died. Although I understand why they did not focus on Tristan, Samuel, and Alfred’s mother… I feel like if she had been involved she would have told her to leave the family in peace. That’s what she did after all. It’s that boredom, that stillness that is death to someone who is restless. Her boredom was evident from the moment she arrived; she would have only been happy there if she could have built a life with Tristan. Unfortunately Tristan wasn’t ready when she was ready. She should have left town.

Sir Anthony Hopkins was on a “sit down Laurence, I’ll show you something” kind of level. Wow. Post stroke he delivered his lines without saying a word.. He used his body and his face - ALL WHILE *NOT USING* HALF HIS FACE bc his character had had a stroke. I mean…. I mean…. HOW IS THAT PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE!! He is INTENTIONALLY keeping one half of his face PARALYZED AND DROOPING…. WHILE USING THE OTHER SIDE of his face to convey dialogue and emotion.
