I've used these when I worked at a metal shop a couple years ago, these things are really bad ass. I've bent 1/4 inch steel pipe with these clamps. Super powerful and easy to use.

Great video .here in the U.S. that triton is sold as a Rockwell jaw horse . I have put a 4x8 sheet of plywood standing up in mine and couldn't believe how stable it was .even used it to clamp timber to be sawn in half with a chainsaw.
@garyp.7501

less the side supports. And the Rockwell metal holding teeth are light weight AL, The log jaws are also lighter, but they do have a chainsaw grabbing mechanism.

I bought one and have no reservations about recommending it without reservations. Mine is the heavier duty model and it has proved to be a tough and reliable work companion. Stability and clamping force is amazing! I have a board with a small hand vice and pillar drill bolted to it. Clamped in my Stand it makes the perfect mobile work bench. After several years of tough use it is still in original condition with no wear or rattles and other than a quick blow down and squirt of oil it has never needed any attention. Can't wait to get my hands on the new Triton workbench,if it up to the high standards already set then it going to be a winner!

Re the one arm business.I used to demonstrate Triton products and was told when they were being introduced to us prior to release that a guy with one arm invented the thing. Truly a great product, used it heaps of times over the years for all sorts of things. And proud to say I have an original Australian made version, which will stay with me till I'm either dead or incapacitated (bit of national pride there). I also have a non Aussie version which I can't fault at all, but is slightly easier to use when locking it in.

Gary Mayo It does lock. I make comment that the moving jaw does not ratchet along the track, it is only a movement of 20mm in one pedal depress. If the jaw meets resistance such as an item you place in there to hold onto, the jaw will lock at the desired pressure. When you want to release, simply slide the lock "button" up and depress the pedal a little more. This relaxes the grip. Great tool, use it often.

OK I have had one of these for well over 23 years at least as far as I can remember. I know for a fact setting it up is nothing like your model as it has a front to back linkage as well. Looks like today’s projects gonna be get it out and look at these other options if they are there. Don’t remember getting other jaw fittings or being told the top is reversible. In fact such ignorance on my part has seen it sit in my workshop acting as a home for countless generations of spiders. Thanks for the insight
@DavidStanton

@stadleroux

The older model had a linkage between the legs, yes, but that made it more complicated to set up. This one is really very simple to set up. I've had one for a number of years and have just recently bought another one 2nd hand at a ridiculous bargain price, but with hardly a scratch on it. Just have to make myself a table top with some thick supports that can be clamped in the extended mode, then I'll have a massively sturdy, but collapsible work table for much less than one of those spider table supports from Bora!

How come your Superjaw slides so easily? I just got mine and it took me a lot of force just to slide the back leg out and all the joints are very tight. Do I need to shave off some of the rubber on the tip of the leg and add oil or joint grease to make it easier to set up? I already got bruises and ripped skin just to set it up.

Hi Dave Great video! Do you have to hold the foot pedal down to maintain pressure on the thing you are clamping or is there a way of locking the jaws in place? I could see situations where I may want to hacksaw something and then use a grinder on the cut edges which requires me to go and set the grinder up. It would be rather boring if I had to set the whole job up a second time.

@DavidStanton 9 лет назад
Hi George, thanks. Yes. There is a lock / unlock switch at the front of the machine. I think I added some text to the video to cover that. I will be using the super jaws in another video soon, so I will make sure I show the lock in action.

One question guys, if you have a bench in your workshop, does it have a vice on it? Would you even think of having a bench without a vice? Take the vice with you onto your jobsite! I have had my trusty old Triton for years. Dave did it half justice but didn't show how stable it is, 3 legs means it never rocks, regardless of uneven ground, you can even add to the stability by holding you foot on the pedal. It is also built like a Land Cruiser.

OK David I ordered another to give it a try again and sure enough the locking mechanism is time consuming to get to unlock. Not like you show or described in the book. in fact when pushing down on the foot lever to unlock I have to push the pedal to the left at the same time. So what is up with this??? Am I the only one buying these things. The reason I tried again is because of my first one. I am a fulltime rver and tow a 25 ft trailer with my tools. Wherever I end up I set up a welding shop outside and the superjaws was my MOST important tool. Now I am trying to do a production run of pieces, all 1/4 rod stock and can hardly hold it without worrying weather i am gonna get it released. I didn't bother buying a Rockwell doesn't look rugged but now I wonder. Had great faith in the Aussie stuff. I have now invested in 2 of these units and am very frustrated. Help if you can.

Hi Bradford. Sorry to hear about your continuing problems with the super jaws. All I can say is that mine perform very well. Take yours back and ask for a refund. I guess its okay for metalwork or log cutting. But he mentions how much he like melimine so he probably prefers mdf to real wood. This is not a product for fine woodworking more for people who take shortcuts and can afford to buy all kinds of extra useless junk to show off to their friends.

If your technical use of a term is in error then it sets the stage for your use of other terms to be in error. You do understand what I am saying right? I also feel that a device that doesn't allow it to hold sheets of various materials such as plywood or sheetrock is a severe drawback.
