That Trumpet Bobber is such a break away from what you would expect from the classic Triumph. Triumph motorcycles are the other brand of motorcycles that have always caught my eye. Great video motorman.

Hello Jerry: I just ordered the new DVD. I am so anxious to receive it. I was able to talk with your wife on the phone. She took my order for the DVD. She is such a nice, friendly person. I have owned a many bikes. I currently have a Bonny Black 120. It has the same engine as your Bobber. Although it's not a bike that I would want to take on a long trip it is by far the most fun motorcycle for around town that I have ever owned. I have found that Triumph Motorcycles are very light and quick. I wish to thank you and your wife for being on RU-vid. I look forward to every video that you post. Please do more motorcycle reviews if you can as I have found your thoughts and opinions regarding motorcycles to be of the highest quality.

We have that test here in Canada also. Just to get a full motorcycle license. So we use the smallest we can get or even better, take the course and they test for the cone track there on their little bikes. Then we just have the road test to do at the DOT.

Hey Jerry. I'm from Europe and we aren't stupid. :-) we definitely prefer taking or test on smaller bikes. That's because the motorcycle training industry in Europe is just that, an industry. I live in Australia now and it's exactly the same. Once you receive your licence. the world is your oysters. For long-range touring the Triumph, Speedmaster is the best way to go, especially the 2021 - 2022 model. Love your videos, keep posting and educating. God Bless

Jerry, wish we could take this test on a Harley over here in Europe, but we can't. There are dedidated bikes for this purpose, Yamaha MT07 in the case of my country. You can't just borrow any bike and take the test. Still, It's a hell of a challenge, though. Not only because the test is sort of difficult, which it is, but largely due to the fact that it is extremely easy to flunk it. Prior to taking the test you're required to complete a least a month long course, which is not so bad in itself. As far, as 125cc bikes are concerned, you can ride them on a regular car license, provided you're over 18 and you've been licensed for over 2 years. I'm saying this a s a HD Road KIng rider myself, who had to go through the licencing process twice, over in the US and again when I moved here as they wouldn't let me ride on the American licence. Long story short, once you've completed the cource over here in the EU, you can do the same tricks on a Harley hands down. True, you need to adjust yourself to the differences of a larger bike, but the skills are already there. It wouldn't work the other way around, though. I mean I wasn't able to do one excersise right with only my former US training and 5 yr riding experience over there. The point is, no matter where you are, never stop practising, even if you think you are a hell of a rider. It may save your life one day. And Jerry's films are a must if you want to hone your skills.

In Germany, driving schools use lighterweight motorcycles for the lessons and the test, not 125ccm's, but for example the Triumph Bonneville, or the Kawasaki ER6n (which was my test bike for the class A). The driving schools are obliged to use motorcycles and vehicles that represent the average of the cars/mc's that is driven by the most people. So, you are correct when you say that you won't see anybody using a heavyweight mc, same is true for 1000cc bikes. For class A license in Germany, the course consists of so called "Grundfahrübungen" (basic riding tasks) which is: 1. Stop & Go with alternating left & right foot 2. 25m riding straight at walking speed using the friction zone 3. narrow slalom at 5km/h (3.1 mph) with 6 cones 3.5m (11.4 foot) apart 4. wider slalom at 30km/h (18.6 mph) with 5 cones 7m (22.9 foot) apart 5. long slalom at 30km/h (18.6 mph) with 5 cones 9m (29.5 foot) apart, altogether 80m 6. Dodge an obstacle (1.3m width) at 50km/h (31 mph) at a 9m distance 7. Dodge an obstacle after breaking (1.3m width) at 50km/h at a 7m distance 8. Panic break from 50 km/h (31 mph) 9. Riding in a circle with a radius of 4.5m (14.7 foot) 10. Starting on a slope 10%.. You are allowed to make 2 mistakes! For me these tasks were pretty demanding, and I added some extra hours with my instructor just to practice them. The failure ratefor motorcycle is pretty high here, but on the other hand, one who makes it, has an adequate handling of the mc to take part in traffic here. The last thing which will probably blow your mind is that a MC driving license class A in Germany costs around 1300 EUR ($1588), at least that's what I payed a few years ago.

In the Netherlands, you are not allowed to use any bike you like for a test. When you're 18, you start on a 125cc, That is the smallest category motorcycles. We also have 50cc, but that's moped. After the 125 licence you can go up to a second category and after that we have the full licence where you're allowed to ride something like a Harley touring bike. That is when you're 21 or 23. Youngsters pay 3 training courses of several hours and 3 exams. There is no ridingschool with Harley's as far as I know. And you are not allowed to try and test riding a motorcycle in any public place or road. No insurance and very heavy punishments if you do.

@christiaanschoenmakers1290
@christiaanschoenmakers1290 3 года назад
@@motorman857 Haha, I wish it was like that. The bike that you have to use is not your own. It is a true 125cc bike of the driving school. There are folks that mount a 125 or more in a 50cc chassis. That means that they ride a motorcycle of 1st or 2nd category with a moped license. No need to explain that this is highly illegal and when you have an accident, you might end up in a lot of trouble.
