Just a suggestion, I use a large syringe, available from a chemist or vet, to extract the old brake fluid from the reservoir. This saves sucking it through the system unnecessarily.

Great informative video Stuart thanks. I have just had my 2 year old t120 in to Triumph for its annual service. I mentioned to the service chap that Triumph say that this should be changed after 2years and I was told no don't worry it's just Triumph covering themselves. He then said that I should think of the money I'm saving!!!!! The service cost me £199 for what is in reality an oil change.... having your cash for little in return seems to be a main dealers priority these days....

Yes ask three different triumph dealers the same question and you will get three very different answers!

Stuart, I finally got around to bleeding my brakes. Your video is very informative and I can say this is an easy job, so much so that I will bleed them every year from now on. I'm really happy you described about the bubbles passing by the threads and that is not a concern (I was concerned at first). Top notch video, you saved me money too!

I just completed the first brake fluid replacement on my 2017 T120. I bought it in Spring of 2018, so it was due if not overdue. The process was simple and fairly quick to do. Thanks for the video!

Triumph Bonneville T120, 2 Years old? Time for a change! The title of the video had me worried that the bike was to be changed...!!! Phew...This is not the case...Just a usefull video of practical value once again. Dear Stuart, please do not worry moi like this again!.....Thumbs up to you as always.

Great video, I change my own brake fluid myself as it is not that difficult and the money saved doing it myself pays for doing it annually. I use a similar kit I purchased from Sears. Thanks for the video!

Nicely done, well explained. This is quite simple compared to the 'whizzy' ABS system on my R1100S, which was a nightmare to bleed.

A vacuum kit works well with hydraulic clutch services also. Handy tool.

Think I will invest in one of them vacuum pumps, makes it a one man job as cracking the nipple open and closed, and operating the lever in the normal way can sometimes be messy if you happen to nudge the handlebar. Oh and a good source of various sizes of tubing is your nearest Tropical Fish Shop.

Started my T120 up to ride it in for winter storage and it was making a "clack clack clack" sound in the top end. New back in May, 5000km on it. You should do a video on how to handle your first warranty claim :p

Excellent vid, the pump tool makes things much easier - will get one for the car as well as the bike! Just one thing Stuart, have you done anything on the Triumph ABS modulator fluid change /bleeding? Apologies if I've missed it, can't see anything new on that at the moment.

Hi Stuart, Great video again. Just one concern that this does not bleed the ABS modulator. To do this you need the diagnostic tool to open the modulator valves (dealer visit). I know that if the fluid is not changed in the modulators then this can lead to failures. This is outlined in the Triumph service manual and mentioned in the Haynes. Keep up the great work - Love the videos.

Hi Paul, this video was intended as a general brake fluid change video. bleeding the modulator seems to be a vague subject at the moment, what the manual says and what triumph dealerships say seem to be at odds. I will deal with this in a separate video in due course, and there is no need to visit a dealership.

Hi Stuart... I believe the bag of fittings in the box contain various adapters to fit different diameter nipples on the brake calipers. (Along with a spare valve) Not sure if that is the case with your purchase it's just that I've seen these tools being used before and it may be worth a look at them if they do fit..... Other than that I'm sure a small jubilee clip or indeed the cable tie as you demonstrated works quite well. Another superb vid and I will certainly have a look at these kits.

I wonder if maybe they fit car brake calipers instead then... even so the procedure you used worked a dream so I will definitely be looking at one of these kits (Both for the car and my bike). Thanks for demonstrating and your speedy reply.

Hi Stuart another great video I’ve just copied you and just finished the front brakes but have to say think you’ve cheated by having some after market exhausts on have you tried doing it with the standard exhausts on , by the looks of it cause it’s so tight in there I think the left side needs to come off unless you’ve got some other great ideas , but anyway well done bud keep the Triumph videos coming

What a cracking video Stu. Perfect timing as my T120 feels ready for a fluid change. It's not yet two years old but you know the mileage I do. I plan to change my front and rear pads at the same time (especially as the squeal on that front disc has returned). Any recommendations for new pads sir? Thankyou for a super-informative video.

sorry Paul, must have missed your comment. yes mine returned too, and I am looking in to it, some suggest that EBC sintered pads make a difference but I have no experience myself as yet!

How are you keeping your header pipes from turning blue? Just about every modern Bonneville I see has blueing on the pipes. Yours like brand new.

Is there an advantage to using a vacuum tool over just using the brake itself to pump the liquid through? Also, what about the fluid in the ABS solenoid?

I saw in one of your old post that you owned a bmw 1200 gsa. I got my search narrowed down to either a new 2017 T120 like yours or a pre-owned bmw 1200 gsa. My question is quality and maintenance cost. I’ve heard horror stories about the bmw. But I think it might be a good commuter and weekend bike for my wife and I. Can I trouble you for your thoughts?

Hi, i noticed scratches on rear caliper on my T100 2019 the same like on your's rear caliper. Do you have any idea from where they come from?

@@stuartfillingham Even in Haynes manual, check pictures in brakes chapter, they have the same scratches as yours. In my opinion something is going on during riding with them. For the moment on my t100 the are small. Mysterious scratches.
