As a quick follow on from my previous comment, after being out on my bike for several hours during that hideous weather yesterday, I can fully attest that the new Motone Viper seat is infinitely more comfortable than either the Street Twin or stock Triumph bench seat, both of which I’ve owned. Very pleased.

Thanks for the advice on locking mechanism maintenance. I rarely take off my seats and have never done any maintenance on mine. Just never thought about it. But as you said, it is just common sense. I guess I lost mine! But you restored it for me and I will do my maintenance tomorrow!
I would say your local area would be all over your on an island basically... LOL and if you're on a motorcycle you're definitely self distancing and I usually wear masks anyway when I ride to keep the road dust out of my lungs. 😊 plus being retired police officer I really don't think you're going to have any trouble and you have a amusing personality they'll let you go so go for a nice long ride. 😊

You should reduce the number of journeys you make overall. The list of reasons you can leave your home and local area include, but are not limited to: • shop for basic necessities, for you or a vulnerable person • go to work, or provide voluntary or charitable services, if you cannot reasonably do so from home • exercise, or for outdoor recreation in a public outdoor space - this can be on your own, with your household (or support bubble,) or with one other person (in which case you should stay 2m apart). You should minimise the amount of time spent outside your home, and you should not travel outside your local area • meet your support bubble or childcare bubble where necessary, but only if you are legally permitted to form one • seek medical assistance or avoid injury, illness or risk of harm (including domestic abuse) • attend education or school or further education • attend university or other higher education - for those eligible • attend, or take a child to, childcare - for those eligible If you need to travel, walk or cycle where possible, plan ahead and if you are able to do so avoid busy times and routes on public transport. The “what is local” is down to interpretation but here in Kent, looking at the local Police website, local for exercise is 4 miles. However one is permitted to ride a bike further if it is to go shopping or for other essentials or if it is in connection with your work. This I believe allows you to ride a bike for work related reasons. If questioned your response could be “this is what I do for a job”. The following is taken from the NPCC’s (National Police Chiefs Council) website. Engage, explain, encourage enforce. And remember, enforce is the last resort. I haven’t ridden my bike(s) since lockdown but I have bought lots of Motone farcles using your discount code. Thank you. 👍 Roll on the 29th March when the stay local rule comes to an end!!!
Very nice looking parts for those Triumphs Stu - I like the seats. I agree that the upward bend at the shock mount is most unfortunate because it makes seat manufacture difficult, but also because it is a maxim of tasteful motorcycle design that the bottom of the fuel tank should be aligned with the bottom of the seat and both of those lines should be parallel with the road. That lack of a flowing horizontal line from the tank through the seat is one of the reasons why “cruiser” bikes and many of the modern sport bikes simply do not look “right” (besides that they look as though their backs are broken and many of the headlights are just SO fugly). I just wish Motone had a Canadian distributor - the shipping rates from the UK are killer high for me.
In Welsh Wales they have defined local as 5 miles. Unless you live in a rural area. So clear as mud here as apart from Cardiff, Newport and Swansea nearly all of Wales is rural. Glad I have to go to work as I get to ride every day.

Here's a suggestion, Stu, for navigation the Covid restrictions - whether it is 5 miles, 10 miles or what. I have dealing with 5 kilometres myself here in Ireland and I used to put out videos of historical locations and visiting them on the bike - but that came to an end when the first restrictions came into play - but I have been researching points of interest around my home town and found quite a few places that had some history behind them - enough for a 5 to 10 minute waffle about them and slap on some footage going there. I'd be interested to see what you find close to home. It just seems that I see a lot of videos of people (including myself) moving the big distances, but completely ignoring what is around the corner down the road.

Local area up in Scotland basically means in your own local authority area...I take that to mean Aberdeenshire where I am. Not Moray, Highland or even Abereeen City but there are enough nice runs to exploit around here 🙂 Hope Motone consider a seat for the Interceptor.

Seating on motorcycles (by the manufacturer) seem almost an afterthought, or perhaps they must accommodate different style bums, thats why there are many aftermarket choices I suppose. Personally of the two you have shown I would go for the 'Rattler' rather than the 'Krait' . if you have no intention of riding with a pillion. I think the raised back just looks more aesthetically pleasing to the eye in keeping with the flow of the fuel tank. Greeting from sunny España.
I've watched many of your videos riding through the English countryside. (I used to love the Yorkshire Moors) sometimes on what seems perpetually wet or damp roads. ..'Pedrera in Reverse' is near where I live....sorry about wind noise.
UK has defined local as with in your town or village limits or your part of a city. Don't know what it is for those that live outside those areas. For UK it is stay at home and return home as soon as possible for next few weeks.
So when you go with the Motone seats, you get the new snap down lock, vs the two screws at the rear of the seat? Also, I have a fairing cowl on my 2005 air cooled, i guess obviously thats a bye,bye with the replacement seats from Motone? I haven't seen too many replacement seats with the built in threads for the cowls. I love the deep stitching with some of the replacement seats, the definitely look more durable, but there's generally no strap, and no cowl threaded studs for the cowl. U certainly have a bike corral my friend. You said you were a policeman once upon a time? Did you ride then too? Thanks Stuart.

I've been watching your channel off and on for quite a while now and I had thought you soured on the T-120 and was surprised your still riding and modifying it. Any thoughts on the new 2021 T-120 as how it relates to the old transmission issues: fixed or not?
I remember, or not, that the government decided that 7 miles was local. Just found it ... a 'local area' is defined as 'the village, town or part of the city where you live'. Not sure if that helps?

I’ll try to answer your question regarding what distance is classed as local. You just need to look at the amount of traffic on the roads !!! It would seem that people have answered that question in their own way and it would seem the answer is that no one gives a toss anymore. The populous has adopted the notion that they can now do exactly what they want !! Lockdown. What lockdown !!! So. Join the crowd and just go for a ride 😳

In France, during the second lockdown we had in November and December 2020, the equivalent of a "local area" was, first, 1km (0.6 miles) around your house (and one hour outside), and then it was loosened to 20 km (12 miles) around your house (and three hours outside); maybe it can help
I believe that the Mayor of the County is the one who can determine the local area limit, in accordance with the number of pandemic cases that is affecting the city and not the Police. 5 miles is nothing to make a more differentiated purchase in any neighborhood. 16 miles is still needy. This seems to me to be a punishment imposed by the World Health Organization headed by a person who has no medical training or even in the health field. Bad taste joke. To lubricate seat latches I prefer dry graphite type for automobile glass channels. Once they are lubricated with grease, they accumulate dust and when we open them, we sometimes dirty quality clothes irreversibly.
How about in flashing lights or towed behind a light aircraft, on the side of buses, or I know, keep it simple, block capitals in the description! No, scrap that they'll never see it. Go for flashing lights and some dancing girls. 😃
Can someone explain to me why riding a motorcycle spreads a virus? You ride alone. If you get gas, you pump the gas alone. What am I missing? Are you not allowed to go for a jog? Ride a bicycle? What am I missing?
