This song makes me choke up, because the way life has been for me with my cerebral palsy, and not being accepted by women. I keep saying this song in my head everyday and love is hard to have in life with someone who might accept you as you are. 💔...I love this song the message is so very clear and Rik is an awesome singer Thank you Triumph ...We all need this song.
Its okay Peter. IN Heavan. You will always be accepted by everyone. Cause we all love each other. This song is beautiful...your right peter. This song is awesome. Dont worry about women. God will give us someone in Heavan. We live in a messed up world
@@groovykaps677 Heaven isn't about hooking up with a partner in heaven-it's about finally being fully complete in the Lord and worshipping him forever. Any romantic relationship will pale in comparison to this.
@@aliceadragna6674 Triumph is in both the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame & the Canadian Music Hall of Fame & both Rik Emmett & Gil Moore have a spot on the Music Walk of Fame... but there isnt a "Canadian R&R Hall of Fame" 😉
I remember when this first hit the radio waves back in the 80s. I am so blessed to have grown up during the greatest time for rock music. Today's music doesn't come close to what we had. 🤟
@@russlupky3505 Seriously? Do you REALLY believe that recording artists should be put on "Plateau" levels and KNOCKED by not being "As Popular" or "As Talented"? TRIUMPH has some INCREDIBLE Songs and surely Deserve RESPECT: Just listen to tracks like: "Fight The Good Fight" "Hold On" "Magic Power" "Never Surrender" "Somebody's Out There" [ to list a few] Can't we just #ENJOY quality Music without #DISSING ANOTHER??? Do you think RUSH or other TOP Artists would value THIS Comparative KNOCKING? CURIOUS... WHY do This?
Ummm...different style, different depth. Love Triumph like I love Survivor. Top of their game at what they do for sure. Rush, however, is on another level. They are in the conversation with Floyd, Led Zep, AC/DC and other true rock icons.
I agree with the ones who say that RUSH is just a whole other level. That's true. But to say that Triumph is the same as SURVIVOR. LOL!!!!!!! Triumph may not be quite as stellar as Rush (I think Rush is unique) but Triumph are LIGHT YEARS ahead of Survivor. Come on now.@@sak1237
Triumph is so underrated as far as a rock band goes. Far as I'm concerned they don't get the respect they deserve I saw them in 81 and again in 84 probably the best live performance I ever saw and I seen a lot of concerts in my day Rik Emmett is probably one of the best lead singers and lead guitarist there ever was his voice and guitar playing is second to none and some of the greatest rock music from the 70s and 80s came from our great neighbors to the north Canada you rock🇨🇦🤘🎸
Ron Ditchen I could not agree more. I was just a kid growing up in the 70's and 80's here in Canada, and although I was never lucky enough to see them in concert, I recall hearing how awesome they were live. I agree that they were very underrated as many Canadian bands were back in the day. The main reason I wanted to respond to you is that you recognize that you have great neighbours up here. I say now because I have been on LinkedIn for the last 18 months and made many great contacts, however, this impeachment trial has brought out the absolute WORST in some Trump ( I prefer Chump or even Chimp voters ) voters. I rarely take the first shot at people, however, God help me if I take a dig at Chimp only to watch the venom and hatred these "people" have bottled up inside them. Anyhow, thanks for the shout out and I hope to God our great American neighbours get rid of that crackpot on November 3rd once and for all. #triumphrules #rikgilmike
They opened those tours at the Saginaw Civic Center in Michigan in the 80's, I remember them playing a couple songs twice because Rik wanted it to be perfect. I used to sing these songs in bands, we would do a Triumph medley. I can still pull off FTGF but, since I am a human, I cannot hit the high notes at the end of this song. Shit is crazy. I learned how to sing from Rik, Bruce, Ronnie James, Geoff, Geddy and Jon.
@William Wells you're delusional. Fact check all that crap you just stated. Half truths and who cares he meets NK dicktator. Trade deals that hurt American farmers. Troops are still in war zones. Who cares he moved the embassy, doesn't affect any of us Americans.I forgot, you trumpers don't like facts or know how to read.
Canada has produced a huge amount of great music that has largely gone unnoticed outside of Canada. I first heard this song when I was a kid and it immediately had an impact on me. I then heard more of Triumph over the years and consider them a really underrated band especially Rik Emmet. He's a great singer, writer, and guitar player. I wish he had had better luck with his solo career, but above all I wish for the impossible- a Triumph reunion and new material. He'll never do it.
I dare say that I'm not really a Beatles fan, so outside of the Rolling Stones I think Canada has produced some of the best music that has been imported to the U.S.-Bachman Turner Overdrive, The Guess Who, Bryan Adams, and who can forget Bob and Doug McKenzie you hosers!
TRIUMPH songs have helped me feel so darn GOOD, and hold on, and got me out of depression, so I could "Triumph" myself, in my own life, and I eventually overcame adversity, and now my life is wonderful and incredible! Thanks Rik Emmet!! Love you guys!
Am 54 and still love this song and the many others these 3 guys could make. Classy / Classic band. Thanks for so many years of fantastic music. Proud to be Canadian ...
The waning weeks of "86 I was navigating through a new and stressful demanding job. I was blindsided by my gf of 2 yrs. I thought was the love of my life. I was monkeybranched and disposed of. I suffered, my profession suffered...I was thoroughly devastated... I couldn't shake it. Then I heard the intro to this song for the first time...it was uplifting and inspirational compared to my friends and family's schadenfreude. This song became my anthem. With God's mercy I worked through my darkness...and found my real "somebody." Thank you TRIUMPH.
I remember walking to my high school in Hamilton Ontario and seeing a bunch of vans with lighting and cameras at Ivor Wynne Stadium. I asked some guys what they were doing and they said they were producing a Triumph music video and said I could watch if I wanted. Needless to say I watched them film a bunch of people walking around the stadium. I waited and waited forever for the video to come out and turned out the only thing they had in it from that day was the lady in the stands and buddy walking with the food tray lol. The guy said they were filming all over Hamilton over the course of the week.... I could see in the video all the landmarks and locations throughout Hamilton. I grew up listening to Triumph in the 80s... it just never gets old...I love playing it in my car, you'd be surprised to see peoples faces watching them relive their teenaged years even of only for a few minutes at a time.
A great song Rik Emmett has a powerful beautiful voice that touches everyone's heart around the world great song writer one of the greatest guitar player in hard rock music. Triumph is one of the greatest Canadian bands of the 80s n early 90s. Rik Emmett still rocking hard I love you Rik Emmett 😎🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸🌹🌹❤️❤️🏋️🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🎸🎸🌹
54 years old and typing this through tears. Been at least 20 years since I last heard this song. When I heard it in my late teens I thought it was telling the story of my life. Thank you Triumph for this song. It makes me feel alive. ❤
OMG, it was early 80s Tony Jasper's HM show on BFBS British Forces Radio in Germany who got me hooked on 'Allied Forces' way back when... Rush, Saga, Triumph, Queensrÿche, all of the good stuff. Went to the record store next day after school and raided them for any new release Tony played the night before. Those were the days and still are... 🤘😎🤘
I saw Triumph in concert in the early 90's. Way past their prime. It was at a park in El Paso, TX. Had never heard of them. But this song really stuck with me when they played it. Still remember it to this day...
Lyrics: Is it fate or random chance How can I decide Are we victims of circumstance When destinies collide. All the odds are against you But somehow you make it through You can rationalize it away But it all comes down to you Half our lives we spend waiting For the knock upon the door When it comes will it be the one That I've been waiting for Somebody's out there somewhere Waiting for someone to come their way Somebody's out there somewhere I will somehow be somebody's someone Someday. Standing in the shadows Hiding from the light Reach out in the darkness And hold on for your life All the fear of the future All the loneliness inside When the moment of truth arrives hey You can run but you can hide. Somebody's out there somewhere Waiting for someone to come their way Somebody's out there somewhere I will somehow be somebody's someone Someday. I can feel it inside me I've been holding on so long Something's tellin' me something's got to give 'Cause the feeling's way too strong, too strong
They were pretty big from 1981 - 1986. They headlined arena size venues in the States and their songs got a lot of radio play on AOR / Mainstream Rock format. I can tell you growing up I heard this song, Fight The Good Fight, Lay It On The Line and Hold On many times on the radio
OMG! Being 16 years old and hearing them do Magic power live in Halifax! Awesome! I thought I could do anything after listening to them! Please do that one live! You won’t regret it! Just sooo underrated! Unreal how much power from a three piece band!
Great song. Amazing video. Triumph lyrics and music are one of a kind. The message is very inspirational. And this video is proof sometimes simplicity works better in music videos. Long live the 80s.
Been with a wonderful gal for 33.5 years now - married 30 years now. This song came out in 86, when I had just started out in my job post college. No long-term gal, but girlfriend of the month program back in 86 till late 80s. Amazingly met my gal at local restaurant. This song gave me inspiration of what COULD BE - IF - I could only meet right gal. It happened to me so have faith it can happen to you too.
Now that I'm 60, the somebodies out there waiting for someone have become few and rare indeed. And only disappointments & depression from departed lives who we loved & miss forever. To those who only want something from you. But there's always hope. Just not for me.
And another nerd uses the word underrated and somehow thinks that it's true. The most common word in the musical world is "underrated". Every time someone uses it their credibility goes down to about zero
ex girlfreind was a nurse who knew Mrs.Emmett. We were x mas shopping in the Toronto area in 92 when they spotted each other. After chatting for a few and being introduced i jokingly invited the Emmett clan over for x mas dinner. Mrs. E. smiled, winked and said i'll bring the ham!!!!
This is the third song I've heard from this utterly underrated (imo) band. The song has a mid-80's power pop feel, driven by some gorgeous guitar tones, sparkly keyboards and a powerful voice. Plus, those drums seal the deal. EDIT: That key change came out of nowhere and just bent me over! That was fantastic!
I remember When they first started out? Their first demo song was accidentally sent to a radio station in San Antonio and the audience went nuts over them. No one had ever heard of them before And this was the first time that they're demo was played in the united states. Their demo song was requested hundreds of times, then the dj called to find out if there were more songs. The promoter and the manager scrambled to get more of their music to the radio station in S.A. A month or two later, a concert was scheduled and sold out, so they scheduled another one, and now it's all history. Rik made several CD's after the band broke up. I bought every album or CD that Triumph ever made and most of Rik's. They are pricey but well worth it!
Just saw him perform this acoustically last night with Dave Dunlop. 64 yrs old, and Rik's still got the licks and pipes. Plus, he's a hilarious storyteller. www.rikemmett.com
I just told the guy that commented next to you that this band is still doing well on the Euro circuit and are mainstays of Wacken and Lowlands. In the 80s RUSH was THAT OTHER Canadian band. Its just how it was.Triumph, then Honeymoon Suite, Loverboy, & Bryan Adams.....OMG, Rush was the 5th best Canadian band in the 80s.
This truly is a great rock band.they really rocked and sounded incredible, just look at some of their us festival videos. Bring back so many memories!I wish they were still playing one of my favorites ❤
There is something about this song. I know it is far more synth pop than most of the Triumph greats and comes from an album that was sub par compared to the Allied Forces days but for some reason I have always loved this song. I just can't help but be happier every time I hear it. Such a positive message.
Oh gosh! Just love this song, it’s true their is always somebody somewhere is waiting 4 someone! Beautiful, I’ll just crank up the volume & just enjoy it, music does something really great 4 ur heart.
Rik has a fucking incredible voice. He was born to be a rock front man and guitarist. Rik at age 7 “I want to be a fire fighter.” God “No. Behold the electric guitar.”
I'm 60 and have never had a true love. Had kind of given up on that happening, but this song gets me thinking that it might not be too late to find a soulmate.
Heard them on late night rock radio in the U.K. Big upsurge in rock then on radio, and got Progressions of Power and was blown away Been a fan since then, got all the records 🤘 Sport of Kings is great and this is one of the highlights Goddamn going to put some Triumph on the stereo now ....
This song has a great sound and great message. It also gave me hope in finding the right woman. Now she's here and has been for 3+ years. Somebody's Out There for everyone. Rock on Triumph.
Why this band never got more attention I'll never know. One of the most underrated rock bands there ever was.theyre definitely in my top 10.This, Fight the good Fight, Magic power, I can survive. They had nothing but positive rockin' songs.
@@donschlonski2936 why are you insulting me over a compliment I paid a band over3 years ago? For you to put me down over a positive comment I made before anyone even knew of the term Covid , says a lot more about you than me. You owe me an apology.
@@dwightplock1162 it seems my hastily written reply to a comment was directed at the wrong person. I did go back and read your comment and it was a wonderful positive comment. It would make no sense why my comment would be addressed to you. So not only do I apologize, but I ask that you forgive my ignorance! Merry Christmas!
Hi I'm 58 and Financially Secure for my life unfortunately I never met that someone so I became a workaholic. Now I treat my friends and my 3 nieces to great vacations. But every Christmas that is my wish. Take care.🙏🙂

"Half our lives we spend waiting, for the knock upon our door. When it comes, will it be the one I've been waiting for." I guess not. I suspect I will always be alone.
We've got to find musicians who can actually pull this off, in this day. On second thought......knowing our luck some teeny bopper would just destroy the masterpieces we've come to love
