Quite crispy and precise ride review and this was much needed especially when you're going for the bigger engines and short test rides provided by the showrooms doesn't justify that! I did a lot of long rides on Lucknow-Agra Expressway, Yamuna Expressway and Purvanchal Expressway and I observed that you can't maintain triple digit speeds for a longer duration due to the windblasts coming a lot as a result of them being broader as compared to the typical national or state highways! I love to ride more on highways than the expressways due to that reason otherwise expressways are better when you're travelling by car or bus! Broader the roads, more and more the windblasts! Keep up the good work as always! 🙏🙌❤️
Hey brother, would it be worthwhile if i installed an aftermarket air filter just so that i can clean it more frequently or will i need some tuning? Great video btw as always ;) disappointed on the speedo error:(
Hello Shiraz! If you ever get the chance to ride the Himalayan 450 again please consider making a video testing the vibrations on it like you did in this video; how thorough you are, like in this video, is always appreciated.
Shiraz bhai, I did it back in November, rode the speed 400 constantly for 130-140kmph on Lucknow Exp. Way for almost an hour and covered almost 120kms in an Hour. For me those vibrations were not annoying.
@@E.after.D.I.am.T.H the new 390 definitely has less vibes. The Speed's can be annoying for some. But, all said and done, they never get to a point where you'll regret buying it 😃 Moreover, roadrunner here is a chhora bhai who has reported the vibes going down upon using better quality engine oil 😃
@@NewsXAuto yeah had seen that video for the speed😅. Thanks for the reply! I'm just stuck choosing between the speed and 390 and the Svartpilen 401 falling in between.
Speed 400 vs Himalayan 450 for city rides and ocassional touring? Im very eager on buying any one of them. I enjoyed Himalayan 450 more than speed 400.
@@NewsXAuto Not yet but will watch it. I saw the triumph review video. I'm very confused about the vibes which many of my friends and people on social media are claiming that they are very annoying post 80kmph. Is it true?
After test riding Himalayan, HD X440, Speed 400, triumph has the best engine performance but the RPMs sit higher at 100 kmh. Himalayan had way too many noticeable vibes on the handle bar. 6k rpm at 100. 👀 That's way too much. Long stroke zindabad🗿 HD x440 was smooth as butter
The Triumph and RE, both have fantastic motors! But I don't agree with the Himalayan having strong vibration in the handlebar. It has absolutely ZERO vibrations in the handlebar at almost any speed! Something terribly wrong with the unit you rode!
@@NewsXAuto the test bike I rode maybe ill maintained and those who are going for test rides are also reporting the same vibes and lack on refinement in Himalayan
Completely agree being the owner..... Maintenance plays a crucial role..... My H450 have literally zero vibration....... It gets smoother as the revs climb
hello shiraz what do you mean by the bike can hold 130 kmph for 5-6 mins (07:17) what happens if you keep it at 130 or high for a longer period please explain
@@NewsXAutoThank you. I am worried that the fan will turn on all the time in high-traffic sections, and that heat will be annoying for the pilot. How do you feel about that?
Will the Meteor suffice if your priority is getting a comfortable motorcycle that can cruise at 90-100 kmh? Yes. Is it a better motorcycle than the Speed 400? No.
ppl were going gaga over the big numbers that the s400 showed on the speedo which i often said isn't the true speed as the more powerful and lighter 390 doesn't do as easily but excited newbies kept arguing . but heres the proof. a large %age of speedo error . ppl seeing 140 on the speedo and being smug about their highspeed but actually doing a bit over 120. lol
What the actual fck... Bro, that's like almost 20+ km/hr speedo error...? I knew it since day 1, there was something fishy going on. But, this is Outrageous on Triumphs part throwing such cheap gimmicks.
Nothing outrageous or fishy, and there's certainly no cheap gimmick thrown by Bajaj/Triumph. It would have been had they claimed it to the quickest or fastest bike in the segment. They aren't doing that at all 😃The speedo error isn't 20 kmh; that's not how you measure it. It has an above 10 per cent speedo error, and this is not the first bike to have that kind of speedo error. That said, yes, they should have tried to contain it under 5 per cent like they have with the KTMs. Heck, the analogue RE 350s' (Hunter, Classic, Meteor, and Bullet) have nearly zero per cent error up to about 80 kmh and less than 5 per cent above that! 😃 But that doesn't change the fact that it's still a very enjoyable motorcycle 😃
I rode it the other day, yes its fun. I also understand that no motorcycle speedo is perfect but, 10% bruh... Nah... When kids are paying their hard earned cash they should not be settling for less. My suggestion is to bump their budget and buy a KTM 390. @@NewsXAuto
@@666Kudos Disagree 😃 Speedo error is absolutely no reason to discard ANY vehicle, a fun-to-ride motorcycle, more so! People would be disappointed for sure, but this would not change their buying decision even one bit. 😊
The fuck... have not stated anywhere to discard the 400, I have even mentioned I enjoyed it. Okay bro let me take your route of being an asshole. If there are 100 people, and they have 2 bikes of exact or more performance specs with one bike manufacturer openly state they have 10+ % speedo error. Disagree how much ever the fuck you want. They will chose the bike with no speedo error period. That's my whole point. Change your channel name to "youdontknowshitXAuto" @@NewsXAuto
imagine giving up on a good motorcycle because of speedo error. A lot of great bikes have speedo errors but that doesnt make them less than what they are. Blud must me a kid to cry about this or he doesnt know anything about bikes.@@666Kudos
No no, the lack of second service caused absolutely no harm to the bearings yet. Had conveyed to Triumph that the bike needs to be serviced immediately! And thanks for the kind words, mate! 😃❤️
Is there any difference in vibrations between speed 400 and scrambler 400x? As they both have the same engine, I can find some reviews suggesting s400 feels smooth as compared to scrambler...I am planning to get scrambler and have test ride both the bikes but didn't seem to notice much difference as I was not able to get it above 60 due to heavy traffic in city...
vibes are not at all an issue. trust me. :) i will tell you what the major problems are I found. Bar end mirrors are not good. Foot pegs are crap when pushing around corners. Its difficult to position yourself due to shaky footpegs. fuel indicators are not good. braking is not progressive like all other Bajaj bikes. Except these its really good bike for the amount we pay. VFM
Nothing fake or shitty there. All GPS devices work on broadcast radio waves or "signal" in common parlance. Sometimes the signal is weak and/or there is a lag. It's similar to your phone network which too works on broadcast radio waves. If your phone is not receiving a proper signal, that doesn't mean your phone is "fake or shitty" 😃
Considering the same price tag, what would you suggest between Duke 250 and Speed 400 ? I would ride a few kms everyday within the city and go for weekend rides and maybe a long tour once a month or so.
Hello Sir, I was eagerly waiting for your video sir on speed 400. Actually I am about your height. I am planning for a bike for the touring purpose, I am very much confused between Duke 390 and speed 400. People are saying that Duke 390, has very much heating issues, vibration etc. Moreover, in my area test ride vehicle is not available. I took the test of Triumph Speed 400, I like the grip of bike on road. Only issue I faced with this bike was turning on sharp corner, it feels top heavy on lower speed like 10kmph. I am very much confused sir. Please help me on which bike should I go for. I am totally dependent on your decision. This will be only one bike for all purpose.
I am shorter guy, I like Duke 390 but I am afraid that on long Highway rides if my hand will pain then it will not be easy ride for me. Triumph I like but it is feeling too short, the bike is good but I don't know despite of every thing, my heart is not convincing me for buying it, but my brain definitely thinks that it would be great decision. Previously I was riding FZs and Avenger 2020. I am having an biking experience of about 20 years. Actually, mujhe thoda thoda sab kuch chaiye. I took a test ride of supermeteor 650 as well, I liked that bike more than the bikes two mentioned above. But I am afraid that on lower speed, u-turn or sharp turn or on ghat roads, and pulling back the bike from parking may cause some issue.. I want an good upgrade, and honestly speaking this would be my last bike and after that I don't think that I would buy a new bike. So that is why I am very much confused. I just sold my Avenger 220 a couple of days back. One thing more sir I know you ride up all these bike and having a good experience on all of these bikes.. I watched your all of the videos of all three bikes. That is why I am totally dependent on an advise of expert like you.
So if I get right. The real speed is about 100 on the gauge showing 110, yes? So at cruiser speed (real) about 80/90 getting vibration, yes? Im asking, cause I saw test ride some guy, probably UK gentleman, and he said... Ou... I feel vibration at right foot peg, it was at speed 70, and higher. At other aspects he said that bike is quite good as for 400cc and 40hp. Anyway thank you for that review and journey. Big traffic 😁Drive safe Mate. Greetings from Poland🙂👍🏻
Hey thank you so much! See, up to a real 100 km/h the vibrations aren't much. And even later on when they increase, they don't really reach a point where it becomes unbearable. Overall, it's a terrific city bike and also a decent tourer 😃
@@NewsXAuto Do you rode Kawasaki Z650RS too? This bike is nice too. But I heard front suspension is like a rubber. To soft for that bike wich is a bit heavy🙂Classsic like a Triumph Speed and Scrambler. 900cc is to big and fast for me. Same Honda cb650r. Nice but its predator on the road. 3.5 secs to 100 kilometers. Evil 😁
Lol, no. ALL Speed 400s have vibrations. Your bike has them as well. All single cylinder motorcycles do. Some have less, some have more. The Speed 400 is in the middle. You are choosing to ignore it because you are in love with your bike. I cannot do that because as a reviewer I cannot be partial to any vehicle irrespective of how much I might love it. 😃
You had made a video attacking the motorinc folks for claiming that the bike was a missed opportunity mainly due to the same vibration issue thry had faced in their test unit. How would you justify it now? It is now widely accepted that the speed 400 has all its composure focused towards the mid rpms, and becomes harsh thereafter. Would you say they were right in suggesting that triumph should have made either a slower revving roadster bike with even better lower end and with a shorter rpm limit or explored tuning closer to that of the ktms? Apart from suspension comfort and more lower end torque, doesnt the duke 250 have the same array of ability as a 400cc speed while arguably having better 120kmph cruising ability and efficiency?
The MotorInc chaps were WRONG on all counts. That is why after my video exposing the real reason behind their negativity they were all praises about the Scrambler that has the same engine and gearbox! You apparently conveniently missed Shumi's statement that he "glanced at the Speedo while gunning it over a rough patch and he was doing 140 kmh without even realising" . Where the hell did those vibrations disappear now if it really did vibrate a lot after 100? I categorically mentioned that my first unit did NOT have those vibrations. This one had, that too because it wasn't serviced before it was given to me. On this video itself there is a gent (Roadrunner) who has done an extensive road trip and he faced no issues with "vibrations" and was able to hold 130-140 kmh for long durations. It has been proven that the Speed 400 is a near-perfect motorcycle that does full justice to what its intended to do: be a fantastic city bike, and a good tourer. Period.
@@NewsXAuto oh did he? I don't remember that part. But I do remember him having the same complaint of it being harsh above 6k rpm and it feeling completely different bike above and below 6k rpm due to the contrast in refinement. Maybe there's a manufacturing protocol lapse that's causing a variation in the behaviour of different bikes or maybe it's just the personal perspective. When I personally test rode, I felt the speeds refinement till 110 was similar to the d250 and became a little harsh thereafter. But then based on your videos, there's a significant difference between the true speeds of both these bikes and motorinc claim of it being a good 110kmph cruiser checks out. Just wondering as I'm a prospective buyer of a speed 400, d250 or a used gen 2 390.
@@kp6425v what MotorInc said, nothing of it checks out. And you need to watch their Scrambler X video again. "I didn't realise I was doing 130-140" and "the vibrations above 100 don't allow you to take the bike there" are highly contradictory statements. There's no manufacturing or quality lapse. Otherwise you would have heard from a lot of owners that they can't tour on this bike. The vast majority has no such complaints. Regarding your dilemma,.just get the one YOU like the most. The one that FEELS the most right to you.
Hey guys, stop fighting, listen to this. I've been following this bike and its videos from the start and have seen both motorinc and this guy's video on them. Initially when I test rode this in Bangalore, yes there were vibes for sure and starting around 6k rpm and when I pushed in 5th, I felt vibes as early as 80kmpl. I tried the scrambler too but I was more focused on the ride dynamics than vibes, so can't comment. Later on I took 2 more tests of the speed 400 and found vibes at exactly the same revs. I dropped the bike from my list. However, I test rode this again after I got interested in the Maverick. It was a new bike and surprisingly I felt no vibes till 7000 rpm in 3rd 4th and 5th gears. Felt surprisingly smooth even at 7. I was in city limits on good Friday, less traffic but I still couldn't push beyond 7k. So looks like triumph has done something about the vibrations part. But I'm still leaning towards the Maverick for its calmer engine although speed offers more for the money
@@srinathtg4623 well, while MotorInc just rode the bike for 50 km and made a 50 min video, "this guy" rode the bike for over 400 km and THEN made this video. THAT'S the difference.
My Highness CB350 does 110 kmph all day without a buzz. Better to buy the Honda or X440 if you want a vibe-free cruising experience than the so-called big bikes (Triumph 400 and RE 450) which sacrifice refinement for the sake of power figures.
So according to you the Speed 400 and Himalayan 450 are.big bikes and the CB350 and H-D 440 are small bikes? Great! Anyway, please be advised that the latter are lovely bikes, but they stand nowhere in comparison in outright performance stakes when compared to the former two. Relaxed cruising is one just one part of the equation. Buyers getting the Triumph and Himalayan expect more performance than what the CBs and H-D have to offer.
@@NewsXAuto thanks for taking time to read and respond to my comment. Really appreciate reviewers like you who do important tests like these on the road which matter to prospective buyers rather than some doods just talking random s**t these days in a white room.
@@ononmonko4835 there's no rocket science behind it. You switch on your GPS device, the GPS in my GoPro in this case, and it shows the real speed. You can even do it with Google Maps. That said, the higher than average speedo error doesn't take away the fact that it is an entertaining motorcycle!
The recommended engine oil is a stupid Hindustan Petroleum Prolube!!.. Reason for vibes.. I have replaced it with Motul 7100 & it runs smooth till 130kmph which is 7000rpm..
The duke 250 seems to cruise better at 110-130, doesnt it? Plus it's speedo is closer to the actual speed as well, so an cruise of 120 is around 115 vs 105 of speed
@@NewsXAuto i was trying to compare the rpms with your Duke 250 highway video. Little difficult to read the speed 400 techo, but I guess there's a 500-800 rpm difference between corresponding true speeds rights?
