@@poit444 Thanks for your quick reply… I have tried twice the Speed recently and should ride the Streetfighter next week and think of buying one of the 2 for the little curved roads back here in Britany France. Happy owner of a Triumph Rocket 3R, I would like to complete my fleet with a more joyfull bike dedicated to the little curves. And I already know it is going to be hard to decide of the 2. The way Torque and Power get delivered in 2nd and 3rd gears, mid range 5000 rpm, the capacity to easily take the angle and also the engine sound involvement in that mid-range… So many questions but so little reviews of people having the luxury to have tried the 2 bikes as you did. Any comments much appreciated ;-)
@@maverickthepilotbiker2848 This is interesting because I had the Speed Triple 1200RS for 4 days. I posted the very first ride. On the 3rd day, I took it to Glendora Mountain Rd in CA..it gets very tight and twisty. It turned out to be no good: the turns were just too short, my 1050s would be better..I needed a bit tighter wheelbase to chuck it side to side. Wondering how the Trident or Speed Twin would do. I'm still saying Ducati, but both are just so damn fast for the short turns. It wasn't fun. They thrive at 120mph not 30. I may post that footage and I'll let you know.
@@poit444 Thank’s for your reply, i entirely get what you mean. I even thought that a Street Triple 765 (while you talki about the Trident) could be a better choice for the little twisties where you need to work the engine more. But I tried both, on the same day, the Speed and the Street, coming out from my Rocket 3R, and felt the need for that engine kick and power… But in deed with time a smaller engine like the Trident or the Street Triple might be more joyful for the little twisties. However, the torque that the Speed delivers is always nice to have in your pocket as long as it does not « overhang » the bike frame. And finally I still love the design of the Ducati and cannot wait to try it, but i know this could be too much of a bike for the twisties.
That’s true. And not that I’m fast or very good, but that bike belongs on a track. I barely woke the engine up in 4 days (btw, that was the first day and first ride).
I realize that you had no control over them, but this bike is wasted on those roads at legal speeds; they are too straight. Enjoyable video nonetheless thank you.
Long story behind me having to trailer this bike from Orange County to Pismo Beach are where there was a serious wind advisory, got a ticket with this bike on the trailer, that’s absurd but 55 speed limit got me, but this was my very first ride of 4 days. Never been here but the Cycle Gear guys told me there wouldn’t be wind and it was really nice, but first time. Camera tilt and other things screwed up the other days. In short, you are spot on. This bike needs a track and a way more skilled rider. Still buckets of quality and fun. Thanks for the comment!
More specifically, I took it to GMR and it wasn’t great on the twisties either because it’s jittery at 25-40mph and really too fast for that area. For me at least. Road was all screwed up too and had debris too. Still a phenomenal bike and mainly the engine.
Chris is a GOOD dude. I've bought 3 bikes from him. Just got a Streetfighter V4s from him a few weeks ago. For the record I'm a MAJOR Triumph guy...have a Speed Twin in the garage, too, and have had 2 Speed Triple 1050's.
Patrick Dirks; Curious, was your new bike purchase for a 2021 or 2022?? My dealer is receiving new stock as 2022s. All the reviews I’ve watched reference 2021. Weird
@@mikesterloc here’s Chris’s answer: The easiest answer is the ones they sold in Europe were 2021 models and the ones coming to the States are counted as 2022 models.
@@poit444 thanks. I ride an R6 right now, so I’m sure the speed will feel like a sofa for me 😁. Thinking about either for my next bike. Speed is my first option cos it’s a lot cheaper to buy and to own.
SO I have been trying to decide between this RS, the Streetfighter and the Tuono Factory. Nobody has any of these bikes in stock to try in TN. I like the Triumph in terms of looks etc. but have not been able to ride any. I noticed you said you like the Triumph better than the Streetfighter, can you please expound on why? Also, have you ridden the Tuono? I like how the Triumph is more classy in design vs bright colors etc. but for me I am looking for the bike that is most refined, fun factor on the ride etc. They are all fast enough so speed makes no difference to me, I just want the finest of the machines. Thank you!
Stereetfighter is the better bike imo and it's really better by the price difference which I believe is in the fully adjustable electronic suspension. I am Triumph guy, so I'd likely try to make it work at $16,999 for the demo bike that I rode, but the Streetfighter is more refined and smoother, and more rideable, and more comfortable,...etc.
@@poit444 ok good to know, just shocked that the street fighter has no gas gauge. I am not sure if the SF has cruise control or not but I appreciate the input!
What I hear is that the electronics management system Ohlins Smart EC 2.0 on the Aprilla Tuono V4 makes the difference. Loving this Triumph Engine though.
