Yeah, I've got a set of those braces but shipping from the US would be expensive. They also have a bit of heavy wire hooks which slip under two bent metal hooks on the firewall which are meant to keep the bonnet from slicing through the windshield in a front end collision.
Great installation...may consider now!! I did note your original bonnet prop was fitted the opposite way round to mine. Leaning on my prop has no effect. I pull mine towards the rear of car to release the bonnet.
The painted bezels were probably a response to US anti-glare requirements. Health and safety and all that. What are the arrows on the road for? Are they reminders to US tourists that they are supposed to be on that side of the road?😁
Went out and had a look at my MKIII, and the bonnet stay is mounted different to yours. If i want to close the bonnet i have to lift the stay and it collapses towards the rear of the car. I noted that yours collapsed towards the front. I think it was mounted wrongly at some time. Anyway i would like struts like the one you have bought.
Hi mate , glad I've found your channel .I've just bought a 1978 spitfire for restoration and was looking for someone I could bare to watch doing one and your the chap . The one I've bought is white ,ish and is solid ,I can't find any sign of welding yet . It's been off the road for a good 15 years and an old chap started restoring it but passed away , his son had no interest so sold it . although it's not run for years the engine turns freely so I'm hoping I can get it running . I will get some good tips looking at your downloads . What about a set off mini lites for the car ?
Thanks for that, i appreciate it. No welding? You're a lucky guy! Just make sure the frame is solid and you're off to a good start. Got some alloys now, just need to swap out the studs, thats the next vid :) thanks again
