Well even tho I don't own a triumph, never did own a triumph, probably never will own a triumph, don't even really know what a triumph is, I enjoy watching these kinds of videos 😁 Good job Pete
Mine come without instructions! I don't think it would have prevented me from fitting it but this vid helped me massively and saved me time. Nice one mate.
Mine came without instructions also. I agree, this video was a good reference for the install. Much is intuitive but some areas I needed this video to understand the procedure at hand, like the wiring using the included wiring harness for the license plate light. Thank you for the video, and thank you Evotech for a well designed, robust, and sleek replacement for the abomination that Triumph designed.
Aye, much tidier. The triple sound is quite intoxicating.... although I have an itch for a parallel twin next If I don't get the next incarnation of the 765's bigger brother Speed Triple :-)
I'm not usually one to change things from standard but I must say it makes a world of difference to the looks 🙂 I have about 10 acres of fairing and panniers keeping the crap off my backside! Great camera setup too, like the use of the selfie stick!
I think if I had a bike like yours then I'd also keep it pretty standard too as yours is a far more practical bike! :-) I wish the lighting was better, lessons learned in every vid! :-)
Tail tidies look great. I have thought about it for my bike, but the stock tail actually works well and isn't that ugly. We have small number plates as standard here in Australia so we are lucky. Take care.
@@HippoDrones But u helped me with ur video a lot! i installed the evt 2 and all the things u said about it is absolut right. Excuse my lousy english please
Cool :) looks way better! There's no requirement in UK C&U regs about the tyre being the rearmost point, but there is in EU - but we never exactly mirrored their regs anyway and had our own set of rules (despite certain circumstances making people believe otherwise!).... Aaaanyway, I now feel less guilty about the state of my workshop at the minute!
What a pain. Looks much better though and well worth. I remember when i did the mirror flip on my V Rod Muscle. That was much more work than I expected.
It really wasn't too much work to swap it over, sure some of the more flimsy tidys are a bit simpler to do, but they are very much down in strength and durability compared to the EvoTech :-) Haha, it is always the "small" jobs that catch us out! :D
I'm well pleased with it Kari, kinda wish I'd got it sooner as the standard rear is useless and ugly. Yours looks great too from the pics and vids you've shared! :-)
No no no you would never encourage anyone to get a smaller number plate 😉 I love the flashy flashy flashy 😂 a tail tidy always just neatens up every bike, it looks really nice 👍
I like the R&G crash protection, but I'll probs not buy another of their tail tidies, especially if EcoTech do one for that bike, best bit of kit I've seen in this market! :-)
I remember picking my bike up for the first time on a rainy day and being coated in mud half an hour later when I got home. I think those standard tails are there purely for legal reasons. The new one definitely looks better. I have wondered if putting the number plate closer would make there be less spray.
Aye, although I like the stubby look, I do wish they could design them to actually work as a mudguard. I've since maybe fitted a "slightly" smaller plate on it which I def don't think will do very much to improve things (oops) 😁
@@CalmBiker aye... but the longer tails on the bikes in the past still looked great and I never got roosted on my Gixer 750 either with the standard rear or tail tidied setup
That original tail made zero sense if it didnt protect you :D They def expected it to be removed! Nice install, looked fiddly!! New one looks way better....and might even protect you more as you said!!
@@TheGorillaBiker I am actually contemplating getting a legal one made up that is a little smaller than my stock plate but has legal lettering and spacing as I might draw attention with the 7x5
@@TheGorillaBiker On my V7 I have velcro holding the plate on, just swas out for the full sized plate in seconds. Can't do that on this one though sadly
Hi! Thanks for your installation video. It helped with the installation of my Evotech tail tidy. I have a question: There's a small gap between the tail tidy and the body panel. I was wondering if this is the case with your installation, and if so, does dirt/mud work its way to the interior of the storage compartment through the gap? I was thinking of fashioning a rubber gasket to seal that gap. Thanks!
Hi Vincent, that is awesome to hear it helped you with your installation. Unfortunately I don't have the bike anymore to be able to check for sure, but I don't recall any big gaps though.
@@HippoDrones Thanks for your reply. I kind of improvised a rubber gasket just in case it might help keep out dirt and mud. Why did you sell the Street Triple? I'm loving mine! What did you replace it with?
@@VincentTL ahh that is a good plan, sounds like it'll do the trick 🙂 I sold it as fancied something different, I got a Moto Guzzi V85TT which I loved, but I wa Ted a more dirt focused adventure bike so traded that in too and got an Aprilia Tuareg 660 which I'm having so much fun with 😁
There is no actual restriction over the size of the number plate, the legal stipulations cover the size, spacing and font of the numbers/letters - which usually dictate, to a degree, the size of the plate - and the colour(s) of the plate. Also, EU reg state that the rear tyre cannot be the rearmost part of the bike, hence the 'sticky out' light and plate hanger. I think this is something manufacturers have to do to comply with when the bikes are made (type approval?) but once the bike is sold you can do pretty much what you want, as you have done, as this isn't a UK MOT requirement. Yet ;)
Does look allot nicer but I suspect you will still get crud up your back on wet roads. Not sure you could handle the embarrassment of the mudguard attached to Carol's Street Triple 😉
Great video. It looks like it comes with a reflector bracket, do you know how to attach that bracket? You’ve got to attach it directly to the number plate (with some glue or screws) or you can attach it somehow to the tail tady itself?
Thanks for the vid, been looking at the EvoTech but the price makes me wince :-( It does look miles better quality than the R&G for sure. Did you have to cut and re-terminate the number plate light cable?
the tail tidy came with a new numberplate light and all the fittings to integrate it with the original Triumph loom. I think it is attention to detail like that that justifies the cost... and this is also a strong and solid design over a bent bit of metal from the other companies! :-)
I love it Gino, is so nice to be able to ride a sportsbike and still be able to flat foot it. The only time it has been a hindrance was on track where one corner had the footpeg ground out. I've since stiffened up the suspension, so am hoping that helps stop that from happening further! :-)
Dude...your garage is a mess...sign of a creative bloke! hahaha... My Versys 1000 has the same type fender, it's ugly, too long and about worthless in the rain. Evo-tech is very good at sizing the tail-tidy for a change out.
Hahahhaa... it is even worse now! 😀 lol I do wish bikes were either designed to be practical or pretty... I don't get this stupid plate on a stick thing that is going on currently???
It’s ridiculous that the regulation requires the rear mudguard to extend further back than the rear tyre, and there is no requirement for it to be an effective mudguard! I guess that Triumph just wanted it to look good rather than work. They might as well made something effective as a mudguard when they know many people will change it out anyway!
