Wow must be nice to ride on a highway like that with no cops around!. I've ridden my modified 2010 Triumph STR on back roads with 1000cc sport-bikes and my STR acquits itself quite well. The Street Triple pulls hard in top gear from low revs and most 1000cc sport bikes are geared tall so they are not that much faster in top gear roll-ons up to 200 kmph. I'm also using a SuperSprox 520 conversion with 2T larger rear sprocket and Arrow 3-1 exhaust, and a light Shorai 18Ah lithium battery that barely weighs 2 lbs. Total weight of the bike is close to 400 lbs gassed up and the handling is effortless at any speed. Also using an Ohlin's TR805 shock and KyleUsa linear racing linkage. Top speed on level highway is a speedo-corrected 223 kmph which is plenty jail-worthy for me and not bad for a naked bike with no fairing. Unfortunately all the damn cop ghost cars around here (eastern Canada) makes high speeds on the highway a paranoid experience considering the bike license and car license are one and the same! I can imagine the car and truck drivers in the vid saying 'crazy f**king bikers!' lol. Wonderful video and the GPS speed readout is a nice touch. Probably the best sport-bike video on public roads that I have ever seen.
wow +gwwayner you have a well equipped STR there. mine is still standard, though im planning for bmc air filter and arrow slip-on with decat exhaust. we have a competant triumph mechanic here highly skilled in tuning the ecu. planning to increase hp and torque across the rev range to suit more for road riding, instead of crazy high hp for track use. will share thr outcome once the project is done. over here, police only do roadblocks like once in a blue moon. thry dont hide behind bushes/junction and chase you íf caught speeding like in the movies, lol. and normally we would know ahead of time if they'll be police roadblocks. some of these bikers are cops.
