Hi!
I take out the new Tiger 900 Rally Pro on a 200 km ride to find out how it compares to its predecessor, the XC800 that I owned for 5 years and rode for 40,000 kms. I expected a familiarity when I sat on this new 900. And to my surprise, nothing felt familiar.
This motorcycle is lighter, faster and more exciting. It handles pretty well off-road and on tarmac.
I share in this video the top speed details, mileage, handling, electronics, price, overall specifications and competition information.
Hope you enjoy watching this video and hope that it helps you if you are looking out for an adventure motorcycle.
And you can follow me on Instagram / artofunwinding
Cheers!

The way you present in your videos is unlike any other vlogs I've seen. Just the elements that is required by any rider looking for reviews (review from ride perspective more than the rest of those). Appreciate it!

Like most comments have said ..a breath of fresh air... Very Practical and to the point talks... No fancy loud music or walk around.... 1st question I had ... Was given to understand that the 800 was very Tractable and can be ridden at 40kmph in 5/6 gear...no frequent gear changes. Has this characteristic been maintained in the 900.. especially if I go for Rally, which I think does not get the Quickshifter. Also 2nd Qus- can the Xrx be retrofitted with a Quickshifter. I need it as there is Nerve tingling in left hand on long rides of few days 😅. Thanks

Thanks. The all new 900 is here and it's retained the triple character with added oomph thanks to the new firing order and crank. Take a test ride to know more.

Thank you. There are no vibrations that bothered me even the least bit. A slight buzz which indicates that the engine is running and that feedback necessary. Best wishes.

how would you say the reach to the ground is from that seat for a 5'6" rider? I'm considering adding an ADV to the garage, the Tiger 900 Rally range seems to be built for taller riders. Triumph may have the Tiger 900 GT range for shorter folks, but the suspension black magic of the Rally range is a USP which one doesn't get with the GT range. Also the Tiger 900 GT is set up pretty stiff suspension wise which is not something one would prefer on our roads. Planning to take a test ride soon, do share your thoughts in the meantime if possible. Thanks and keep the great content coming! Appreciate the effort you are investing in it.

Hi! You may not be able to flat foot both feet. However, the bike feels balanced even at slow speeds that it gives confidence to keep our feet up on the pegs. Besides that is the better technique. There may be a low seat option which you can check with the dealership. Irrespective, sit on one, take a test ride and then take a call. That’s the best way. Best wishes. Cheers!

I am 5’9” and am very comfortable so you can too. When possible I suggest that you invest in a rider training class at any reputed place. Will be worth every rupee. Cheers!

The sound of the old 800 was something else though. With an arrow slip on it really sounds like a Daytona when you pin it. Mind you, street dogs aren't fans of it 🥲
@bigbearbangalore
@bigbearbangalore 3 года назад
Yes! I had the Arrow on my xc800 and the triple whine was thrilling especially above 6000 rpm. And the dogs near my house perhaps have different taste cos they did not like Harleys and did not mind the Tiger!

Thanks for the review. Did you experience heating: I've heard riders on this version complain about hot air hitting their legs, even at moderate temperatures. Thank you!

Yes, heat from cooling system is part of motorcycles of this size. Get used to it and enjoy the ride.

Bosky… once in a while, it would be good to go a review of the gear that you wear. I am asking because I struggle with gear all the time. Most times I get so frustrated that I do 500 km rides in my shorts and t shirt on my V.
@bigbearbangalore
@bigbearbangalore 3 года назад
Hi! Sure can do and will see if I can weave it into a the next video. Sorry to hear your gear struggles. Investing in good riding gear and in rider training is worth every rupee paid. Cheers!

@@bigbearbangalore Thanks for your prompt response. Looking at the following options for an upgrade from my KTM Duke 390 (in a souped up off-road Supermoto Build). 4 years and 80K Touring kms: way too many niggles and reliability issues! 1. Transalp XL 750 (Rally Avatar): Light, Peppy, Nimble. Cool Engine. Reliable and Cheap Maintainance. Although Suspension Upgrades, Seats and Bash plate etc will take the cost up to around 16L! 2. Used Tiger 900 RP (2021): All Round Winner + Bid Dirt Bike + Value Accessories! Cons: Heating in Mumbai Traffic So, will have to keep the Duke for daily rides. Higher Maintainance Costs! 3. Used CRF1000L AT (2019): Loaded with Performance Upgrades and Accessories = Dakar Build! Cooler Engine the 🐯; Cons: Top Heavy! Please Advice! P.S. Riding Style: Hooligan | 6 ft (Prefer to Sit On Top of, Not in the Bike!

300 to 400 KM weekend couple of rides in month which is prefer for Reliability & durability Tiger rally pro or Africa twin As per your opinion
@bigbearbangalore
@bigbearbangalore 3 года назад
Hi! The Tiger 900 feels lighter and easier to ride. The Africa Twin is a full size adv and needs more skill and strength to ride in comparison. I would put the Africa Twin and the GS1250 in the same segment and put the 900 in a lighter and smaller segment. Insights that you ride both for about 50 kms to better know how they feel. Cheers!

Kindly tell about maintenance cost of triumph Tiger
@bigbearbangalore
@bigbearbangalore 3 года назад
Hi! My Tiger 800XC annual service used to cost about Rs.12,000 and on one occasion about Rs. 24,000 because I had to change chain & sprockets. Tyres I changed once and those were about 18,000/- I would day that for the 40,000 kms I used my Tiger I roughly spent about Rs.80,000/- which makes it about Rs.2/- per km.
@ashoksubburaman
@ashoksubburaman 3 года назад
If it’s Honda Africa twin means the maintenance cost is 50% cheaper may I correct Rs 1 per kms
@bigbearbangalore
@bigbearbangalore 3 года назад
I am not aware of exact cost for the AT. However it’s likely to be more or less around the same. We need to remember that until the tyre changes or chain & sprocket change the maintenance costs would appear to be far less so until a vehicle runs for about say 40,000 kms, it’s hard to be accurate on the costs.
