Correct installation of the nylon bushings and associated parts on the trunnion of the Triumph TR4A and TR6. The trunnion is the front suspension part that connects the vertical link and the lower control arms. There is some confusion about how these parts go together, possibly aggravated by the sale of poorly manufactured parts.

That steel sleeve wants packing with grease - preferably white silicone - here in blighty the weather will get into the joint and corrode the arm and the inner sleeve. This will cause it to bind tightly, you won't believe how much, and lock the suspension out as well as making the whole assembly difficult to remove. Sorry, but this is my experience on a GT6 Mk2 back in the day, and we struggled.... White grease (silicone based) will not affect the nylon bushings.

thanks so much for the video. in my restoration i am just beginning to put the ft suspension back together. im new to triumphs and trying to figure out what is the "bolt n collar" spacer that is screwed into the trunion do? it just seems to plug a threaded hole and has no use.

Your description sounds like the steering lock stop. This part sets the limit of the steering so that the front wheels do not rub against the frame or suspension when the steering is turned all the way. You might enjoy the Triumph Experience forums: www.triumphexp.com/forum/
