Is anyone else riding the Trident 660 as their first bike?

@@sammajor7546 I have a local canyon road that is about 50mph average speed. I rode that canyon loop over and over and also every day to the gym. I got the first 300 miles in the first week or so lol. It goes by quick. The best part is the bike just keeps getting smoother and smoother.

I'd agree around 300 miles It felt a lot smoother, also maybe i got use to it better. I'm at 650 miles I have an appointment June 17th and they told me not to go over 1k miles. This is also my first bike, I'm never in rain mode, it feels bad. I ordered the quick shifter for the hell of it, however the dealer doesn't have any and they said it would be a couple months.

Do you have the chain maintenance video? Is there a noticeable difference in power? Did they do an update or a tune? Does the tach blink on and off at a different rpm ? Mine blinks at 5000 rpm ish !! Thanks

i disagree. i had the Tuono 660 with quick shifters. i never liked it, but it doesn't have the option to turn it off. so i had to live with it and i regretted buying it.

Sounds typical main dealership BS first service should no way take 2 hours it’s really just a oil and filter change, telling you your tyre depth and brake ware is just rubbish the bike as only covered 600 mile why would you need brakes and tyres. It’s about justifying the cost. The technician will have checked the chain tension and torque on a few main bolts. You also said they checked the charge system again BS if the bike had a charging problem you probably wouldn’t have made it to the dealer. I have a BMW and a Trident and have to suffer this every year just because I don’t have the computer to reset the service indicator on the dash, I am in the uk and the last service at 2000 miles cost around £200.

Not so shure about that. There is a issue i have heard that a service light comes on and only a dealer can turn it off. It shouldent be this way, but just the way there making alot of new bikes cars these days. I have also experienced this ridiculous problem on my car. TPMS (tire pressure) warning, cleared only at dealers

Had my first Service at Blade Cheltenham for my Triumph Trident at 730 miles and it cost me £82 British Pounds. Which I think is very reasonable.

No dealer can deny a warranty claim if you don’t have your bike serviced at the dealership. $300 for and oil change is garbage. Probably took 30 minutes to do everything. Though they probably made you sit there for hours. The Trident is absolutely a beginner’s bike. That Tech is a tool. Don’t get the impression I’m slagging your video. This was an informative post. It sure as hell doesn’t show Triumph in a positive light though.

My first bike is Hyperstrada 821, that bike have a lot of power for beginner like me, but after riding it for 5 weeks now, i'm feel super comfortable with power and handling the bike. I was think get Trident 660 when i shopping around, but i saw Hyperstrada, love it!

I think the biggest cost is the air filter. It must take 40 mins to change air filter.Other than that seems a good bike.

I'm picking mine up on Friday (27th May) and (I think) the first service also remaps the throttle, which may include the change in feeling. In the UK the deal is that the dealership absorbs the labour charge first service so I should expect a parts bill of around £90; I'll subscribe & report back. Have fun...
@halohalohikers3571

@@halohalohikers3571 Hi, I now have my bike & I've completed the first 600 miles; the service included an oil and filter change plus a full check over, and they charged me £55 which I was more than happy with. I was told to expect about £190 for the first annual service, which doesn't seem outrageous. It does feel smoother and no longer nags me at 5000rpm, which is a bonus. It also feels more responsive but that may be me being more willing to push it now that the rev counter doesn't flash at the earliest opportunity. And I did fit the ShiftAssist, which gives a whole new feel to the bike - you can still use the clutch if you want to, you know :-)

I love triple cylinder engines more than the rest.. first because of the linear power and 2nd the distinct sound… wanna ask because we are of the same height 5’10” so, how can you describe the ride feel? Is it a bit small or just the right size? Because i worry about open roads wherein you can really put that power into good use and if im gonna be speeding all of that wind will surely blow me off and i have not seen a decent looking windscreen for this bike yet. I plan to only have one bike for city riding, daily commute and weekend getaway (dont worry i wont put a saddle bag on this 😉) the back seat is enough to tie a bag on it.. Keep uploading them videos bro.. like the bike your edits are very fine tuned as well.. just enough info and the mix of personal ride experience gives it a definite feel of the bike for us.. Ride safe!

Hey brotha I appreciate the support! I do use it as a daily commuter and it works perfectly for that. My favorite part of the day, is commuting on it. If I have to go any distance on the freeway over an hour or if it’s a windy day then I prefer to just drive, like you said it’s a light bike and no wind screen.

First service is at 600 miles. Afterwards it depends on how many miles you drive annually. Its either once a year from your 600 mile service or every 10k miles, whichever comes first.

i agree with your take on the quickshifter. i've had the Tuono 660 and now the Street Triple with quick shifters. i never liked it on the Tuono 660, but it doesn't have the option to turn it off, so i had to live with it and i regretted buying it as an option. now that i have the Street Triple with the option to turn it off, i leave it off. if a bike had the option to turn off upshift, but keep downshift on, i would do that, but if not, i would rather have none. upshifting is already clutchless anyway, when you need it to be. at slower speeds, when manual upshifting without a clutch would be a bad idea and just feel clunky, it's not a big deal at all to have to use a clutch. but with more spirited riding, as i said, you already don't need to use the clutch to upshift. and i like being able to pre-load the shift lever when i'm getting ready to shift. you can't do that with a quickshifter. on the Tuono 660, i would often accidentally touch the shift lever, and it would make the engine blip for a second. very annoying. you definitely learn how to use it over time, as i was forced to do on the Tuono, and it probably makes shifting a tiny bit faster once you get used to it, but i just don't like it and don't see the point.
