I agree man, The Crusade was a fantastic record that really set the stage for the masterpiece that is Shogun (they really cut their teeth on the 7-strings on The Crusade before perfecting their usage on Shogun). I think my only criticism of that album is the same reason that a lot of people didn't like it so much and that is the lack of screams. But for me that's just a minor complaint. Oh yeah, Sever the Hand is fucking brutal! In fact, The Sin and the Sentence is just an incredible record (possibly my third favorite Trivium album ever, behind Shogun and Ascendancy) and over one year later I am still jamming out to it every single day!
Love this song, kinda an unconventional structure, amazing chorus and killer instrumental that really takes you places. Good album. Just fricking good.

Chainsaw, I'm on the wagon where it concerns The Crusade. I do love that record. All the songs, not nitpicking any of what they did there. And you'll love this. Last time I saw Trivium live a couple years, they actually played Tread The Floods.
Great song, great everything on it, I fucking loved that mini thrash section there, everyone knows these guys are fully capable of employing sections like that, I really wish they'd pull that out more, but after listening to the album a few times, it's good enough without it honestly, enjoyed this track a lot
Please read the whole comment!!! I can't be the only one hearing the similarities between the fast riff at 2:58 in this video and the lead/riff from My Apocalypse by Metallica just after the solo. I'm talking about the one where the lyrics go "What makes me drift a little bit closer, Dead man takes the steering wheel". I'm not saying they ripped them straight away from Metallica, however they are very similar, but used in a new and different way. I see it as a sign of respect to the King of Riffs, Mr. Hetfield himself. With that being said, I never really listen to Trivium until this point, but this album really got me hooked. I'm going to give their earlier work another try right away! As for Chainsaw, keep up the good work mate!!!
panos nikolidakis That's Matt, not Corey. Corey usually doesn't do vocals on the albums. I think he did the screaming on the Pillars of Serpents re-recording though.
