For me, personally, this song is the best trivium song they have released EVER! I have been a fan since ascendancy too, so that says a lot. Matt’s vocals are at his peak here and you can just hear the pain and anger in his voice. Musically, it’s just top tier too...
The raw emotion in Matt's voice and the lyrics are what gets me in this song, especially after learning he wrote it about losing his dog. Though pretty much everything in this song is brilliant.
Wayne Dolan I didn’t even know that just gives the song more meaning but scattering the ashes is about Corey scattering his grandparents ashes love how these songs have so much more meaning to them
Yeah listening to the lyrics kinda reminded me of Matt losing his dog and I could hear that raw emotion in his voice especially during “A part of me is fucking dead” bit. This song is easily one of my favorites off this album
This song and the defiant are such a blend of all trivium albums (especially ascendancy, shogun and the crusade), I LOVE IT! I started watching you from your The Sin and the Sentence reactions so it's cool to realise it's been 3 years now :)
The breakdown on this song will rip open a pit big enough to make an arena explode. Bloody fucking amazing. Perhaps their most versatile song of this album. It's so unforgiving and relentless. It just keeps giving. There's absolutely nothing on this song that doesn't deserve a shout-out.
Fun fact: I don’t know if this is true but apparently this song is about Matt’s dog that passed away. This album is pure artistry eargasm. Trivium is on another level in my opinion. Their craftsmanship is unmatched by current standards. Don’t get me wrong there are other amazing bands (Jinjer) but Trivium is on fire!
it's like Kirisute Gomen + Beauty In The Sorrow + Sever The Hand = Sickness Unto You (Plus some of Gojira's vibe) .. in this record, they do a lot of Gojira's things especially the sweep picking now that's a thing. another thing that in Binding The Arc To Fear middle section, the breakdown really is like Gojira always do and yeah that song has the He Who Spawned The Fury vibe .. you will definitely hear that if you listen to it ..
Definitely one of my favorites on the album. Alex and Corey are insane in this song. Such a great song. Has one of my favorite middle sections on the album. I bought the lenticular poster and signed CD. Can’t wait to get it.

Chris Smith I know, I can see where you’re coming from with your reply, it’s more that it has a calm vocal intro (BITS) and when Matt sings the song title he stretches the last word (EN) it’s indeed more Sever the Hand than the other 2, completely agree with that. I’m just a diehard TSATS fanboy that’s trying to find a blend of every song of TSATS in this album as well, tbh.
This album in a nutshell: Amazing gritty vocals mixed with some(Genuinely good) singing, Amazing bass leads, amazing and long Guitar solos, and fucking amazing and fast drumming. All together a fucking amazing album.
Can't wait for them to drop the next album in a few years and for me to come looking for you first cause I know you'll be sitting there refreshing like a crazy person.

That pause moment during the breakdown/middle section. really reminded me of "watch the world burn" and that pause that they did made that section really feel more brutal. alex's drumming is better then any i've heard. the man is nuts
Yeah safe to say I loved every bit but some stuff that I REALLY loved would be the way Matt would sing the “you” in “my sickness unto you” towards the end. He would hold the “you” and hit different notes on the one word, so damn emotive. Also those heavy middle sections and perhaps my favorite part was the groovy riff towards the end with Alex on the ride
What Alex was playing in that part I think was a little bit of "Songo"... You really don't expect to heart that in this kind of music but there you go... It's Alex.
People should just compare trivium to trivium, they are an almost overflowing fountain of talent. They keep cannibalising and inventing new styles from their own art style, it’s not been inspired by anything since crusade
