The two screws on the front and back are to make the scales fast swappable. You don’t have to take the whole knife apart to swap the scale. Just pop the two screws on the front and back and you’re good to go. Love the channel!
@@metal_complexHe's right, plus its only 3 internal screws for the standoffs, not 6. the scale swappability is the major bonus and selling point with only having to take off the 4 screws plus clip. Scales can be swapped without having to mess with your pivot and only takes about 30 seconds. Not for everyone but a cool thing for those who want that flexibility.
@@GBall_Vision Neutron 2 comes with the deep carry clip shown in the video. They sell the original Neutron clip on their website which is not deep carry and you can swap that on to the knife if thats more your style
I have this knife, and it came PERFECTLY centered. It also came OMG sharp, like scary sharp. One of my absolute favorites! Love the channel and wonderful review!
I would imagine having three barrel spacers helps to stiffen up the thin and flexible scale and liner materials and keep them squared up, especially considering the small screws. Three looks nice, too. Still on the fence about a TRM though.
Aye! Dropping by to say it's my 21st birthday tomorrow and it's because of your videos that I decied to get myself a Benchmade Super Freek as my first Benchmade. Because like you I also wear an Xl glove, smaller knives like my S35vn QSP Penguin and ZT 0450 are a bit on the small side for some tasks and I like full purchase of my knife when I'm working. I'm phasing out my Spyderco Tenacious which I've carried for the past 5 years (I had better knives like my Civivi Baklash but never wanted to ruin them) and was my first real knife, as a kid I used to buy a ton of the $1 mini spyderco fakes from our local feed store. I've always loved knives even back in elementary when I offered to cut peoples string cheese for them behind the redwood trees during recess (I got caught a few times but that never stopped me). It's channels like yours and Nick Shabazz that really brought out the hobbyist collector in me, a new passion to pursue. I don't have hardly any money so my collection will remain small for a while, but I have some knives to look forward to in the mean time. Best of wishes to you are your family and have a great day! I love this community! :D
Have an Atom coming tomorrow after being on the waitlist for 9 months. Looking forward to checking it out more thoroughly after having a knee-jerk reaction to sell my last one after only one day. I didn't give that first one a fair shake, so I intend to do that with this next one!
I absolutely love mine! The thin profile and light weight combined with the lightsaber like blade make it a great EDC. Just for an added size reference, blade and handle wise it's essentially the exact same length as a small Sebenza. Scale swaps are a breeze but yeah those 3 backspacers are NOT captured so actually taking it apart is a pain.
@@calebcrockett1085 I'm a bit on love with my small Seb lol. Just fits me perfectly. Only downside is the price and that the only option on a 31 is drop point right now.
I’d love to get one of each of their models and put crazy scales on them. I swapped knives with my friend for a weekend once and he hooked me up with his Atom with Mexican blanket scales. Super Slicey blade and the scales looked so cool. (He got my pro-tech operator TR3) We do this pretty often and we always end up wanting to keep each other’s knives by Monday. But of course.. we aren’t willing to give up the one we traded 😂
MC, you are one lucky sob regarding omega springs. Both springs on my 940-2 broke within 2 months of use 😬 i am currently waiting for my knife to come back from bm
One difference between the atom and neutron 2 is that the atom uses two screws for the pocket clip that hold the scales on. While the neutron has an extra scale screw to allow you to run it clipless.
Your comment on Phosphor Bronze washers "honestly"? I much prefer PB washer over bearings, all positive reasons, PB is heartier than bearings, and when done correctly just as smooth as bearings. I know everyone seem to like bearing knives but I've never been a fan, especially when carrying in pocket they require frequent cleaning oiling etc. Why, does Chris Reeve use PB washers? They're superior that's why.
Gotta say I’ve had multiples of Neutron and Atom. They just don’t do it for me. Ergos around the choil aren’t great . Just about too thin in the handle and they flex near the pivot Just not confidence inspiring There definitely is massive hype involved but it’s a good fit for some people just not me .
Love your channel so don’t take this wrong…. Sometimes It feels like you’re not doing your homework before making a review. For example you obviously didn’t know about the quick change scales, a really cool innovation and the reason for the amount of hardware. I didn’t know what G11 was either, found out with a quick google search….
Been on the fence about this knife for about 5 months now and just can't decide whether or not I should buy??? Oh yeah I can't.... well that solves the dilemma.
@@basedboyz13 It's a machine-made product, not handmade art or rare antiques, lol. I should be able to just order one from an online retailer like I can 99% of all other pocket knives in the 150-250 price range.
@@matthuck378 apparently you don’t understand that small manufacturing operations like TRM can’t produce as much product as a much larger operation like say Benchmade. Even much larger companies can’t keep popular models in stock at all times. My original reply still stands though, if you actually want one of their knives they can be easily had you just have to put in a little effort.
Been waiting to hear your thoughts on this knife, I was recommended to get one without really knowing anything about the knife, I ended up getting in on the drop and only after I’d already bought one did I realize how hard they are to get 😅
Now that really does hit the spot in my tiny mind, personally for a thin bladed piece it’s just perfect and the quality is rather impressive for a American made number (NO OFFENCE INTENDED) before some of you lose your fucking minds lol I simply mean it has good quality control. Now if that hurts anyone then you haven’t bought enough knives yet, and it’s not just a American problem either it’s a world wide problem! Hell even M_C knows this himself take his last shirogorov just for a little example and at the money they are having a ( if I remember tidy a cocked up edge or whatever it was) is completely out of order but it happens even at that high of a price. But that’s just my own opinion which doesn’t count for anything than for me. Have a beautiful day you lot Stay safe and healthy as always M_C 😉👍
They just had some available tut other day. If you have a hard time getting in on the drops, you can always join the waitlist. I had to wait 9 months but my Atom finally arrives tomorrow. I think it'll be worth the wait!
@@ATAR1 thanks man. Which scales would be best ? I was thinking g10 contoured. I like the micarta and CF but I think the G10 will be a nice mix of strength and good texture
Their marketing, limited availability, and the way they do their drops really turned me off to TRM. I’ve never been able to get my hands on one, yet some people have almost every model they make like it’s no big deal. So many other USA made knives that are cheaper, just as good, and easier to get. Way too much hype IMO.
