The Chippewa Flowage is the most historic musky lake in Wisconsin and possibly the planet. It is a lake that has truly been left behind by modern fishing techniques and ideology. Got a day with you in late September out of Treelands. Been fishing the Chip since 92 but have been struggling the last 10. Looking forward to some new tactics!

Kansas Angling Experience Hayward is a dying fishing destination. We have some of the greatest inland multispecies fishing in the Midwest. Uncut does a great job of giving their viewers something new, somethi g to get excited about. We hope to do the same, adding excitement to an age old fishing town.

I spent a day on the Chippewa Flowage in early August of this summer with my guide, Pete Rich, and I caught a 43.5 inch musky on a huge crank bait. I also had another big musky hooked on the same crank bait that threw the hook on me earlier that same day. The Big Chip is still a good spot if you know how to fish the appropriate lures at the right times.

I've been fishing the Chip for 25+ years and it's dead. Started fishing lakes over by Boulder Junction and caught my PB Musky that was 54" Sorry Hayward you may have the best fudge but better fish are caught elsewhere.

What makes Hayward WI a special destination is the variety of water. If you think the Chip or Hayward is dead I question logic as an angler. You can catch bigger fish in many locations around the Midwest. But the resources within 10 minutes of my front door are unmatched.

If it works for you guys more power to you. I have been coming up to that area since I was a child. My parents own a cabin on Lake Namakagon. I am up in WI at least 6-8 months of the year every year just for fishing. I have caught more than my fair share of Musky in that area but the time involved to do it proves the area isn't what it was. 5 years ago was my first year in Boulder Junction and caught 6 Musky the first day! My 15 year old daughter has caught more Musky in 5 years than I did fishing the Hayward area for 25 years. I'm not saying Hayward doesn't have a diversity of waters to fish but they don't produce fish like they did when I was younger. If you really thing I am wrong I am more than happy to share some lakes and spots I fish in the Boulder area. Spend a week fishing them and then come back here and tell me the Chip isn't dead by comparison. In fact I will be back up there in two weeks I am happy to host and take you out to some of my spots. you can bring your camera and see for yourself.

I thought the flowage was a class "A" musky lake with no trolling allowed?

Gary Bowers trolling has been legal on the flowage since July of 2015. 1 line per angler with a max of 2 per boat.

Shouldn't you want to not promote this area, and try to keep this hidden gem a secret for as long as you can? I get you want people to know about this awesome place, but promoting an area can really cause damage to it.

It can. Nobody could come to this area to fish, resort, bike, camp, vacation. And that would be detrimental to the area.
