Replacement of the plastic base of the trolling motor head. (Update from 5/21/20) I cracked it AGAIN by hitting a tree and this video was a life saver for me!
Your video was particularly useful in showing me how the cable wheel/guide went back together on top of the shaft, however here’s a Pro Tip: you can release tension on the cable by backing off the screw on the front of the foot pedal, making it easy to put the pulley on the geared shaft, something that you’ll probably have to do a few times to get the pedal and direction indicator synced to the motor direction. Repair cost me $54 vice ~$750 for a new motor.

Not sure on this model, but most Minn Kotas have a steering cable tension screw in the pedal. If this motor has that, it's better to loosen the wire when replacing the grommet rather than forcing it over the top. You then tighten the tension screw back up once it's on there.
I just messed with mine, and we going to comment, but you are correct. Back that adjustment screw out on the front of the pedal and there are no issues putting the collar back on. Just readjust and you're good to go.
If you are here you know that you can't look at the plastic head without it breaking. The pin on mine was sticking so i tried to take some pressure off by grabbing the bottom housing, bad move. You would have thought I banged it with a 4lb sledge. Thanks for the video, wish I had seen the tip about adjusting the tension beforehand.
I found out that this is a known problem with the Minn Kota trolling motors. I had to replace the same pieces on my Edge 55. The only thing that gave me a little bit of a problem was getting the timing with my foot pedal correct.
@tropifiori 7 minutes ago Mine broke in a similar fashion. RU-vid has several videos on this subject. I bought a replacement on Amazon. It said,”50 sold so far this month”. It was the 15th. Does anyone else think it is a design problem.? Frank
does the steering grommet go on only one way?Is it keyed?I'm sure if you have it a tooth off it could cause issues with the pedal?I want to shorten the shaft on mine.Is there an easy way?

+BassSmacker R - I believe it was a little sun dried, but not that bad. That said, it broke when it hit my trailer guides putting the boat on the trailer. Completely my fault and not Minn Kota's. I actually hit it many times and it finally broke.
