This Trombone Shorty concert marked the official album release of For True. This was an outstanding live performance with numerous special guests, including Cyril and Ivan Neville and Ben Ellman of Galactic.

patric t. murphy Check out the rest of his extended family - all the Glen Andrews's (there are a bunch of cousins all named Glen Andrews in various bands around New Orleans). Glen David Andrews is the best known. James Andrews is Shorty's older brother, a wonderful trumpet player. Shorty worked a long time getting this group polished to where he wanted it, and it shows. In New Orleans it seems that there is never one musician in a family so check out the Batiste family, especially Jon Batiste and Stay Human. I love this music!
patric t. murphy Right? I discovered him on the Foo Fighters Sonic Highway series - I had the same reaction. I saw him in Denver and it blew my mind. Fantastic.
These guys are BAD ASS! A little bit of Funk, a little bit of Jazz, a little bit of Rock, a little bit of Soul, a little bit of Rap, a little bit of Blues, and even a little bit of Reggae! They got it ALL! THEY ROCK!
You got that right. I'm an old school diehard rock/blues/metal guy, and when I saw them on Austin City Limits they blew me away. This is good music right here. Tight structure, great back beat, with some excellent guitar work peppered in on occasion. This has it all. Extremely hard to find in this day and age of auto-tuned weak-lunged 'artists' the mainstream music moguls keep trying to shove down our throats.
If you haven't seen them live you have got to go. Trombone Shorty and Orleans Ave are the GOAT. To this day, and into the future this concert is still groovin'.
Aside from putting on an amazing show- Trombone Shorty had the most amazing impromptu recovery I've ever seen. Red Rocks, CO, a storm threatens the front range on a perfect summer night, warm with a bit of a breeze and lighting behind the stage. Suddenly lighting strikes in Morrison and the power goes out, as the light dies, Shorty comes in with a raw, powerful trombone solo. The crowd is silent, everyone in awe of this man belting out so powerfully and incredibly for minutes on end- after about 9 minutes, the lights come back on, the band comes back end and the crowd roars. So good... those are the moments we live for... and he wasn't even the headliner. Thank you Trombone Shorty.
I know this is 2 years old but holy cow!!! and at Red Rocks! I have only visited but have never seen a show there. I have seen many great shows through the years but can only imaging seeing some of my favorites at such a magical venue. Your Trombone Shorty concert had to be epic. Thanks for sharing that story!!!
I wonder how often he blows the headliners out of the water. The man is a legend. The show is impossible to dislike. Musicianship and showmanship beyond any reasonable fairness in one person, let alone the whole band.
Saw them tonight opening for Gov’t Mule. I am a huge Warren Haynes fan but I have to say the number they did with TBS was undoubtedly their best of the night, even better than his slide work during the opener. He should be a much bigger star than he is given his talent and showmanship. The chemistry of the current lineup is as good as any band I’ve ever seen in 40 years of watching live music
Had no idea who Trombone Shorty was but we were in Denver and I wanted my daughter to see Red Rocks - so we went to this concert, maybe the best show I've ever see - top 5 for sure - amazing!
I was thinking about that too. It's a huge amount of strength from a lifetime of playing. Your face muscles just give out after a while and you cannot hit a single note but not his. He just keeps playing and playing and playing. He took some breaks to sing but still.
OMG We are f**king blown away. Our kids saw you in St. Paul last night, turned us on to the performance you gave. We just checked you out. Again...minds f**king blown! It is now our DUTY to share your music with our Grandkids. You and your band are truly blessed. ❤❤ Grandma Kiki & Grandpa Swede Kannabis
+BluBello Does Clash He's been playing with New Orleans marching bands since he was 4, started his own marching band when he was 6, and has been playing ever since. Fucking amazing.
Bro, I told my wife the same damn thing. I have got to go see these guys live. I play the trombone as well so watching him play is literally music to my ears.
@@daniegurl415 I'm so jealous. I want to see them live so bad. I'm really looking forward to when we're able to go to concerts again. This group will be the first one I buy tickets for.
And anyone that doesn't like Shorty just ain't listening and doesn't appreciate good music. Track List: 1. Slippery Lips 0:01:28 2. Suburbia 0:05:45 3. Buckjump 0:11:54 4. On Your Way Down 0:16:24 5. Trombone shorty is an iconic New Orleans musician that really embodies the spirit of new Orleans jazz and will be around for as long as there is a city to call it home!!!
Excellent performance. I especially liked the song that featured the Neville Brothers and his big brother on trumpet (approx. @ 1:25:30), which that groove is truly the epitome of New Orleans funk.
I LOVE seeing a whole new young crop of jazz fusion musicians. Glad that there are super talented musicians taking the mantel of genuine music instead of the dreck being mass media produced by no talents that need intensive electronics and studio mixing, and are nothing but repetitive words and soulless beats. Cream always rises to the top. Trombone Shorty is the crème de la crème.
That has been the worst part of this whole Fiasco is that the music is gone. First time I saw this kid play he was 14 years old and I've never missed an opportunity to catch a show when they come close by and that's anywhere within the state of California or Nevada. Because I too am from New Orleans so when I see him for a few hours I feel like I'm at home. Everytime teens never fails to see me, out in that crowd. Because I am the only one with a black and gold Saints shirt on. Same every time he always points right at me and gives me a big fat who dat. Yeah you right😎
Never a Jazz fan and always into ROCK & ROLL got my initiation into the World of Jazz at the young age of 59 years at the "N.C.P.A International Jazz Festival" in Mumbai .Its was a 3 day festival that began on Friday(11/10/2019) and ended on Sunday(13/10/2019). Attended the last day on Sunday and was entertained to 5 hrs of Jazz music with 2 intervals in-between and complimentary free "White Owl Beer" being the water of the Jazz festival on this day.Life is about constant learning and have added a new genre of music to my hobby and attending Jazz festivals a future prospect of entertainment.
Where have I been!?! I just heard of this guy for the first time today on the Jazz station here in Nashville. GREAT MUSIC!!!..What a player!!! The band is TIGHT!!!

I have never seen nor heard a concert be so full of constant life and raw talent. Truly one of the most put together concerts Every single one of you is just incredible. The guitar work in particular is out of this worlllld
Excellent musicians 👌 just saw them on Jools Holland tonight on New Year’s eve - crap year 💩💩 great to hear this at end of 2020 RIP poor people who died because of Covid RIP❤️❤️
I did not know you played the trumpet. Trombone Shorty. You do a great job. I hope one day I meet you in person in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. It would had be great if you had a trumpeter while you played the trombone and along with the saxophonists.
If Trombone Shorty and this band on this set ever come to this area I am going to be sure to see him. He is so cool intelligent talented. I saw him in an interview on RU-vid and he spoke so well and intelligently. He is amazing! I want to see his concert!!!!
Saw Trombone Shorty and Orleans Ave, with Galactic and New Breed Brasa Band at South side on Lamar/Gilleys Dallas in Dallas TX Dec. 19, 2015...man, I was in my Boot State a/k/a Louisiana zone! man we had a blast! awesome show and the crowd was well diverse...everybody was feeling that Who DAT vibe! From one musician to another band of musicians...well done! Who DAT 4 Life!
I just caught TS at the Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl Last Sunday, he came on After India Ari, and before Sheila E. After an electrifying performance like that, they might as well have closed the doors... with all due respect to Sheila the headliner, you just cant follow that act with anything!!!! When I came home Sunday night, I found this video and it's the third time I'm watching it since Sunday! ( It's Tuesday Night!!!)
...6 years later I'll bet ya still hooked!!! I AM!! The first time I heard them I was like WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT??!! Blown AWAY!! 9 years later I'm addicted like it was sonic crack!!!
Looks like the drummer is inspired (Ginger Baker:-). Great concert. Like a big mix of influences. Shorty the next generation on the trombone. Thumbs up to wesley
I had to watch an online concert for a class due to the pandemic. Without the lockdown, I may not have found this band. I'm so glad I did, this was amazing
I saw this group on the Stephen Colbert Show tonight and was blown away. I loved it so much I had to look him up on RU-vid. Let me tell you, this young man and his group is dangerous. " Ain't no party like Lil shawty party cuz Lil shawty party don't stop " Amen!!
9:26 started the best duet i have ever seen to be completely honest. Not only is the bari just as good as Shorty, but they both complemented each other so well
This is one of the best live performers I have ever heard in my life. The entire group is a accomplished. Trombone Shorty is the best trumpet player I have heard in years. The baritone sax player is a trip.I heard them in Syracuse and they stole the show for the entire Jazz Fest.
For songs like Mrs. Orleans and Slippery Lips Dwayne "Big D" Williams could have had the cowbell attached to a pedal, therefore allowing him to play tambourine or congas at the same time 56:09 When you have a favorite note 44:00 Percussion Duet 59:54 After all that stank with the Trombone, Tenor Sax and Baritone Sax we get a jam jazzy session 1:00:18 They said Harmonica wasn't a jazz instrument. 40:22 Uh oh Dan wanna get funki ymmide8ly 57:54 Ben Ellman APPEARS!!! 1:01:47 Whatchu mad about this a certified bop 52:15 If you listen closely just before Mrs. Orleans you can hear Michael cueing Dwayne, Joseph and Peter 1:34:00 Something about B natural (C# for Bb instruments) is just stanky when growled 6:46, 7:26 I might sample this line and use it when I become a film composer so it can be used for an urgent, dangerous or nerve wrecking situation 9:25 Stankiest combo in jazz history 10:06 Spine-chilling vibrato 1:04:33 Why does Am sound bluesy with this guy and this isn't even in that scale 1:06:06 Sneakiest and Slyest Trio in jazz history 1:57:05 Mike "Bass" Ballard solo! 1:02:54 Timothy McFatter's solo intensified 1:16:10 I think this is the only concert Troy Andrews is seen playing Organ 1:53:52 5th Ward Weebie returns
Discovered him at the Paris Jazz Festival this afternoon. Loved the way he mixes rock, funk, jazz... an amazing performance ! Not only the entire line-up is madly talented, but they showed a very contagious joy of being there and playing a rich and generous sound. Bravo les mecs, revenez quand vous voulez !
This young man (Trombone Shorty) is so inspiring! Not since Louis Satterfield (EWF Phoenix Horns) have I been excited to hear a trombone solo. Bring the show to VA Beach.
Was seeing the Foo Fighters in Amsterdam a few months ago but I was early, and this guy was playing before the Foo's. Never heard of him before but I couldn't believe my ears when I heard them live, they are soooo good.
