I enjoyed it as well. I thought the stylization, acting, and plot all fit well with the Tron universe. The original Tron from 1982 is still my favorite Tron movie, show, or game, however.

I Too Loved Uprising and wish it had been released on BluRay. There was a DVD set that used to exist of the series. . .

That was a brutal reality check for me... Disney owns Tron. I hope they make something decent of it too.

I've got a feeling they will kind of brush those characters off and make it where Quorra & Sam just slipped away into obscurity living their life off the grid (pun intended) in our real world. And they'll make it where this "Ares" program picked up on their like finger-prints of the exact way they left the grid and he followed in curiosity a while later. that's exactly the kind of typical thing i can see Disney doing. Also one controversial thing i just want to point out here, don't know if you've noticed by Disney seem to be moving away from Male & Female romance couples in their movies now. So i really can't seem them focusing much on Sam and Quorra at all in this tron 3.

The fact that various minority communities who used to have little or no representation in media are now being included more does not mean that the majority no longer gets represented. When Starbucks adds new items to their menu, does that mean you can't buy regular coffee there anymore? No. Please don't see inclusion and diversity as a threat. It's not.

@@hyloguy6847 Dude my focus here is on DISNEY! I'm Black mixed race and I can tell you the ONLY time Disney hVe ever been GENUINE about "Diversity & Inclusion" was 2018's *Black Panther* film. In that you had BLACK PEOPLE portrayed in a very positive light, a fictional state in Africa depicted as highly technologically advanced more so that the rest of the world. A Black Male main character who is Noble, a Leader, he's not some "homie" from the ghetto. And yet that movie actually even managed to make a nice social commentary on the whole thing between Black African people and Black American people. And it was Written, Directed AND Produced by BLACK PEOPLE!! Who would have believed that!? Oh and the movie wasn't even woke, not an ounce of wokeness in it, and it never even alienated white audiences, EVERYONE went to see the first Black Panther film which was why it became a Cultural Phenomenon for Black people like myself. Sadly that movie seems to have been a absolute fluke for Disney because they did not to the same thing for their Mulan live action. A Chinese Mythic tale, that Disney decided let's cast majority Chinese actors, but we'll get some of our OWN people writing, directing and producing so we can keep that movie 'Disneyfied'. Disney just can't help themselves when it comes to their own IP. Disney knows they never intended or even expected the first Black Panther movie to become as huge as it was. I use the Black Panther movie as a pure example here cause its the only one out of Disney, that's how you do Representation right! Just be frickin genuine about it! STOP trying to balance out ex-amount of Black/Ethnic, Women, etc etc in your movies!

My focus here is not that I absolutely need them to do that in this movie, I was just pointing out that Disney have completely shyed away from that in ALL their recent movies over the past few years. So let's focus on your issue that you bring up, how do we specifically 'balance' out "Representing" GAY/TRANS Couples on film and still show Straight/hetro couples? First off I'll just say "BROS" movie is soo NOT how you do it lol, like heavy-handed and when the director is acting quite desperate telling EVERYONE to go see the movie, and even behaving in such a way, making people feel that IF you don't go see this movie at cinemas, you're NOT an "Ally" if the cause and really you might even me a 'phobe'. He didn't say that! But he was certainly making people feel that way in all his tweets he kept putting out. This was the something for the Black Panther 2 Sequel, but on the part of many woke Black folks out there; going on extra and doing videos embrassing themselves, calling for white folks to literally not go see that movie on opening day and support the BLM movement by allowing ALL BLACK PEOPLE to go watch it first LOL. Like what kind of stupid woke nonesense is that!? And it only led to basically alienating the general audience, that and it didn't help they built the story arnd the main "T'Challa" character being killed OFF SCREEN and not being around at all, which jusf left a bad taste in most peoples mouths. But anyway the 'balancing' of LGBTQ representation in our movies. I can see few examples where it's handled subtly. *Alien Covenant* had a Gay couple, and director Ridley Scott handled those 2 characters really well. There was also a straight Male & Female Interracial couple who it is shown in the movie actually have a love scene, or atleast kissing in the shower before both get brutally killed. I think just show gay couples in movies more that way, where there's nothing on your face, no scenes literally spelling it out to the audience like - "hey over here! See us 2 in the corner? Yeh were GAY! see us." LOL Disney subtly and very quickly showed a Gay lesbian couple in their starwars "The Rise of Skywalker" movie, 2 women pilots kissing and hugging right at the end as everyone is celebrating and this was cool. Nothing in your face all nice and subtle and just natural blended in with everyone else in thay clip. But where Disney screwed up is that shot they took out for Chinese Audiences lol, which really kind of shows their hypocrisy. They say they RESPECT CHINA in this regard not showing "LGBTQ Representation", yet in other areas Disney can't even allow FULL CHINESE PRODUCERS, WRITERS and DIRECTORS entrusted to tell THEIR OWN MYTHOLOGY STORY OF MULAN! A purely *Chinese Tale* that is part of solely Chinese Culture. And in the eyes of the LGBTQ+ community they want their Representstion and Inclusion to be accepted around the world don't they? So Disney are big, fag HYPOCRITES here who want their cake and eat it. Bon Iger is fiercely Representative of the LGBTQ in Disney movies now, but no when it comes to the great CCP, he's willing to bow down to EVERY rule of their's because him want that CCP $$$$$$$$! Where there has to be ex-amount of Black, Ethnic characters in every cast for every movie now. This is wrong think and its stupid. Same with all these "Race Swapped" Gender Bending roles. Instead of making a 'female version' or "Black Ariel little mermaid". Disney SHOULD be actuslly making faithful Adaptations on BLACK MYTHOLOGY stories. So e.g. instead they should have made a live action movie of - "Sukey The Mermaid". Which is a African folktale about a Black Mermaid. Don't keep changing these original characters like Ariel. Just leave then as is, and actuslly bring in "Sukey the Black Mermaid" from Africa. Then you could do a cross over, and have a movie about Ariel "The little Mermaid" meeting "Sukey the mermaid" (a original black fictional mermaid character) and have the two go on a adventure together. That's how you do REAL GENUINE DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION, REPRESENTATION !!!!

I really really wanted to like Tron when I finally got to see it a couple of years after it released. The year it came out, I was in fourth grade. If you asked the guys in the class what the movie was about, they'd describe these neon fever dreams, no two of which was anywhere close to alike. To be fair, fourth grade boys speeding on Skittles and caffiene probably aren't the best theater journalists. Add in the video games that followed (Tron, Discs of Tron, and two lesser known Intellivision home system games that I had)...they looked awesome and certainly drew from things in the movie, but can't really be said to have a great deal to do with what actually happened the movie. All that to say...my expectations were probably a bit too high, and there was probably a difference between what I'd find entertaining as a fourth grader and what I'd like as someone approaching junior high. Tron Legacy is absolutely the superior film, though still very much more flash than substance. I like it a great deal better.

Very valid points. Some observation though. It's easier in some ways to be the superior film with modern tech, film making culture and of course standing on the shoulders of the original IP. I get where you are coming from about expectations though. I'm guessing you saw it on a small crt TV? A cinema experience might have left a better impression on you. And, I didn't really expect anything going in so I was a blank slate. In fact I have an 'expectation story' for a movie experience prior to and after Tron. Growing up in the UK, by the time I went to see Star Wars on release, the expectations were super sky high for me. I had grown up watching Dr Who and a bunch of other scifi tv shows as well as reading 2000ad and I was mad about robots. When I saw Star Wars with such high expectations I was quite let down. I thought it mid at best. I especially thought R2D2 and C3PO looked embarrassingly cheap as robots. I still do. Then a few years after Tron, I saw a straight to video super cheesy robot movie called 'Eliminator'. It was a guy who was half cyborg from the waist up with a Super Metroid like gun arm and mini tank tracks for legs. It was fun but so lame. Then the same year, Robocop came out. The poster for it looked a lot like the Eliminator one so I expected it to be utter garbage. It was around the time the ED209 had pumped its 109th 50 cal round into the exec in the board room and all the gummy sours sugar was coursing through my veins making me hyper that I realised I was watching one of the greatest scifi movies ever made :) Made all the better by my super low expectations. I saw the movie alone and remember walking out of the downtown Cinema 57 in Boston like a robot ha ha. @@valecrassus7835

@@NR-rv8rz I did see it on a relatively small CRT...I can't remember exactly, but given it was at my grandmother's house, it was probably an early 80s 19 inch tv. I think that same television is still there to this day (though no one lives there anymore). I'm not sure I would have ever found Star Wars droids cheesier than K-9 or the Cybermen on Dr. Who, even with the build up. :D

The problem is that once the cancer has been positively identified, Disney chooses to fight cancer with cancer. They double down on past mistakes at incredulous rates. The rehiring of Iger was no fluke, and the refusal to not only fire Kennedy after she destroys the most profitable franchise in the history of cinema, and allow her to venture further down the pathway of failure (with her next planned trilogy) is without rationale and explanation. I suppose one could attempt to rationalize their repeated failures by saying that maintaining influence through pop culture outweighs putting out a successful product. 🤔 I have zero hope in the next Tron movie......and as someone who has numerous merchandise from both films, I take no pleasure in saying that.

I'm sure we can also expect any males to be regularly berated and belittled, whilst also being bumbling idiots. With the girls being in some form of sexual relationship and regularly stating their lesbianness and how it's far better than being a breeder.

Indeed, that's my expectation. Today's crop of film makers can't stand being "held back" by all that pesky lore, continuity, and worldbuilding that made the franchise popular, and their film, possible. Everything made by people before them needs to be fixed by their brilliant vision and more enlightened principles of "seeing themselves" in everything and destroying the legacy of those evil people we used to call heroes.
