Target Is doing a limited exclusive repress of the record store day version of the soundtrack. The first record is the same blueish clear color as the record store day version but the second record is clear without the blue tint. It is $25 dollars and I picked it up, It is coming in December.
I tweeted that out. Hopefully some people that missed out on previous releases can get their hands on that. Only downside is it's only available in the U.S.
@@PopcornandVinyl yeah, but earlier this year, The vinyl for Homework and Alive 1997 got rereleased for the rest of the world except for the North America. So it averaged out for me. But it’s still sad for the rest of the world.
@@PopcornandVinyl Yeah, by that point people should just get the original because with overseas shipping and tax It would probably cost as much as the original one.
Mondo just rereleased it today, I was lucky enough to get a copy before it sold out. There was a waiting room for checkout and it sold out within 10 minutes. Great review, I'm really excited to get it!
In Europe We had a delay of The Drop after timer run out. This way I lost up to 40seconds. After I could finally purchased it and go through payment it withrow album from my basket and shows as sold out. Mondo said it sold out in 100seconds, and there was 5k copies. Don't know how you could buy it for 10 minutes? Any way I bought Disney RSD press, brand new for 100$, locally.
@@ooGETSOMEoo Ya the 10 minutes was me going back to the product page after I bought it and seeing it was sold out. I knew it was within at least 10 minutes, I had no idea it was 100 seconds, wow. If I didn't want it so bad, I'd be one of those jerks that sell it on ebay for 10 times as much.
I'm not gonna lie, I got this in my recommended and clicked not even caring what the channel was or anything - and was pleasantly surprised to find some really high production value here. Then I looked at the sub/like count and was amazed. Great stuff, man! You certainly deserve more attention
Good luck. I’ve been ACTIVELY searching for one since DAY 1, but they have had an aftermarket on average of $300!! This last round of repressings had each version SELL OUT IN MINUTES on every site they were offered. Mondo sold out in 6 minutes, The RSD pressings all sold day one, likely within the first minutes of store’s opening, and even mainstream stores that listed copies online sold out in minutes despite them having an MSRP listing at $70! He is FAR too optimistic saying you’ll find one if you look hard enough, as 10 years is ridiculous. If you add up ALL copies made since 2010, all repressings included, you end up with a WORLDWIDE amount around 20,000! Under 10,000 for initial 2010 release, Mondo’s 1000 + 600 second run, 4,000 RSD 2020 repress, and 2015 had a repressing but HIGHLY doubtful it was close to or over 5,000 copies as the 10th anniversary was FAR more hyped than the 5th. After 10 years, I FINALLY caved to the scalpers and reluctantly forked over my money in defeat. I’m tired of attempting to catch the moment they go live, driving miles and miles to record stores with only a HOPE that a copy will be available when I arrive that won’t get snagged before me, and being let down year after year. I’ve already spent WELL over that $300 HUNTING for ten years. I found one for $150 and figure it’s what I would have spent trying to get one thru 2030 but I’ll be able to ENJOY it now and not risk yet more disappointment
Well, was a moron and missed the restock because I didn’t realize it was for Central time, not Pacific where I live, so it was gone by noon my time. At least this restock brought scalp prices under $300.. got a eBay listing for a still WAY OVER-INFLATED $120... Jerks...
@@GreatBowlsAfire unfortunately nope... mondo... 10+ years of frustration and missing this last chance just put me over the edge. Tempted to seek out someone capable of blood magik to curse the scalpers responsible...
Lucky!! I was able to get in 12 viewings of the 3D theatrical run. 3 during its last week in empty theatres all to myself... Easily my absolute FAVORITE 3D movie and theatre experience I’ve had. In fact, this movie is why I plan to save to eventually buy a 4K 3D television
Hey man! Great video. I have an original that I love the sound of. I got the Mondo and just haven’t popped it open yet. TBH I was concerned about the possibility of surface noise too. I’ll probably pop for the RSD version too sometime down the line. See you on the grid. 😎
Was the lighting in the background on purpose to match the Tron colors? If so, great choice! I missed out on both of these, but I’m glad the Mondo one is coming in 2021. There’s something about the simplicity of the RSD that gets me. It’s a tough one. But they’re both great! Thanks for the vid 👍
Yes the lighting was intentional, i'm so glad someone noticed haha. I usually try and match the lights to the subject matter. Some jungle green for Donkey Kong, blue for Jaws etc. Although it ended up messing with my camera so you may notice some odd colour shifting on my face throughout the video. I do love both releases. The longer I have them the more "even" it is as to which I like better. It's starting to become a coin toss. I'm curious what they'll do for the repress. I'm sure they'll sell out in no time. Thanks for watching!
I just bought the mondo version on Amazon today. Got the last one available. Now I have to buy a record player. Yeah. That's how much I love this movie and the score. I want to hear it on vinyl.
If you were interested I picked up a second copy of the RSD version for someone who no longer wants it. If you were willing to pay the shipping and just buy it at cost I’d be happy to send it to you.
@@PopcornandVinyl I really appreciate you offering, but I'm not sure if I'm buying it yet. Thank you anyway and keep doing your thing, very comprehensive video and Good content.
I’m VERY jealous that you even ran across multiple copies when you went to whatever store it was you went to. I’ve been actively searching, both attempting to buy on websites and at various stores, to get a copy at non-inflated secondary market price (which is still on average around $300..). The blue transparent RSD copy had 4,000 copies pressed, and the Mondo had 1,000 PLUS another 650 for a second run because the first sold out in 7 minutes. The second run was acquired almost exclusively by scalpers and only a few very lucky individuals that stumbled on it by accident (because it was accidentally listed early, not at the time originally advertised, so most going off the scheduled date/time were left VERY disappointed). However, overall, with both the Mondo and RSD versions most copies were purchased by scalpers, not anyone planning on actually PLAYING the record as intended, but sought it out exclusively to profit by denying the supply from reaching fans. The scalpers already had them listed up on eBay soon as they confirmed their orders. Knowing that only 5,650 total LP copies combined were made for the 10th anniversary WORLDWIDE, I think you are VERY MUCH overestimating realistic chances of actually finding one, as I’ve been actively seeking out a copy since the movie debuted in 2010. I’ve finally, after failing to get either an RSD copy or Mondo copy, from this tenth anniversary repress, and previously failing with the initial 9500 copy pressing, and later the 5th anniversary repress (which doubtful was even half of the 10th anniversary production), I’ve decided that I don’t want to wait for a POTENTIAL 15th or 20th anniversary re-pressing for another chance, so I simply have no choice if I’m serious about getting a copy. Once I can work again, and have some disposable income, I will admit defeat to those pieces of human garbage and reluctantly surrender. Hopefully whatever they buy with my money has an EXTREMELY negative effect on them in some way. Or better, causes a change of heart to not seek to exploit others by participating in mass manipulation of the supply of anything to become FAR more scarce than it realistically is and demanding a price of insane proportions (Unfortunately even corporations like GameStop participate in this scam as it is extremely effective)
Secondary market prices are extremely frustrating. It's a shame to see it in the hands of people who don't want to play it. Hopefully you haven't broke down and sold a kidney yet because Mondo is restocking this week - mondoshop.com/blogs/news/music-weekly-tron-legacy-restock-le-matos-ninja-eliminator
@@PopcornandVinyl AWWW CRUD!! I’m a MORON!! I read the announcement incorrectly!! I missed the part about the CST time!! I completely thought it was Pacific, so I just went on the site at “noon” and it’s already sold out!! I thought “ no way!” And re-read the news page and realized my mistake :( Three tiny letters might mean another 10 years... I do appreciate the link, I wouldn’t have been aware of it otherwise. I actually thought the “restock” already happened.
Mondo said they would be repressing in 2021. They did have a small release at the beginning of the year so i'm not sure if that was additional stock from the original run or if that's what they were referring to when they said they have more on the way. Hopefully another repress!
I lost the RSD 2020 vinyl I am a fan of the film since the early 80s, I have the black version of a few years ago ... really beautiful the two coloured version! I'm searching it in italy... really difficult at normal price
I really don't like pinwheel style multi-color vinyl designs, and I definitely prefer the cover design of the original and RSD releases with just the Tron logo. But I don't really think the translucent blue vinyl used on the 2020 RSD release is quite right either. I would have rather seen a milky cool white or crystal clear vinyl instead. I'm really glad I picked up the original black vinyl back when it was still readily available in stores.
I totally understand not digging that pinwheel style. The only reason I like it is because I don't have anything else like that in my collection. I do love the translucent blue on the RSD release. I thought it was a good choice. I wouldn't mind a crystal clear one either. That original black one was on my wish list for ages but it was so unaffordable on the resale market I was frankly happy to have any re-release I could get.
My copy of the mondo release has a ton of surface noise even after a thorough cleaning. Bad luck I guess. I reached out and hopefully I can get a replacement. Everything else is visually stunning.
love this soundtrack, but it is practically impossible to find. I am from EU and here it cost more like 200€ from resellers.. i dont understand why is this vinyl immediately sold out when it comes out. It just doesent makes sence for me. Any reissue in near future pls? Does anyone know? Thanks a lot. Oh yeah, and great video, you are lucky to have two copies of this masterpiece:)
Thanks for watching! These specific pressings selling out make sense as there has been a long build up of demand after being out of print for so long. It's incredibly frustrating when people buy them only to re-sell them at very marked up prices. Unfortunately that is just the reality of the market. The issue was probably compounded by Daft Punk breaking up leading to more demand and scarcity. Way back Mondo mentioned a re-press was coming and they did have one a few weeks ago. I suspect that could be the last one as I haven't seen them say more is on the way. This one could easily sell 10k copies and I don't think there is any benefit to Mondo to keep supply limited so I assume their license is limited to a certain amount of copies. I don't understand why Disney doesn't just crank out a constant supply of these. To me, I don't care about rarity. As a collector I would rather more people have a chance to own one and not have to resort to spending hundreds for a $35 record.
@@PopcornandVinyl Yeah, exactly! I don't understand why Disney just does not release plenty of them on market, like Empire Strikes Back or New Hope for 30 bucks recently.. Why they keeping this strictly limited to every price is just out of my mind. Thousands fans of the movie just dont have any chance to buy it. Of course i understand of rarity of the product, like The Shining ost or something old and rare without any reissue or something,.. but making ultra mega rarity from Tron Legacy and sell it for 300€ ist just ridiculous and frustrating at the same time. Anyways, thanks for reply, maybe one day i grab one copy of these for normal price.
this is the weirdest thing ever, i was at my local target and saw this soundtrack and it is the exact same as the records store day one but it does not glow. What a find almost cracked down and payed $100 for the Mando one resale!
I’ve seen two pressings pop up on the target website. I’m curious if they’ll keep pressing them. It’s a great option for anyone who missed out on previous versions.
There's a reason why the Tron soundtrack and the Oblivion soundtrack sound similar! They had the same collaborator and co-composer! Check it out: www.discogs.com/artist/2040113-Joseph-Trapanese?type=Credits&subtype=Writing-Arrangement&filter_anv=0 He also did orchestral arrangement and conducting for one of my favorite M83 albums, Hurry Up We're Dreaming! (I found your video through Discogs, and I'm a huge music nerd. :-P )
I never clued in that they had the same co-composer. Thanks for sharing that. I'm going to look through the rest of his credits to see what else he's done. Glad you found the video and thanks for watching!
Yeah - any feedback on the audio quality between these pressings? Didn't hear to much other than discussing the art work / packaging but would be curious to know more. Thanks!
